I only started ugly crying at the end of this video when I found out this movie was based on a true story. How had I never heard this story before? In school (I'm in my mid 30s now) I was only taught about the horrors of segregation and the Jim Crow Laws, but there were never any hopeful or positive stories about how people on the opposite sides of a conflict can come together just by going through normal human experiences together. I'm not saying that the past should be forgotten, I'm saying that we aren't living in the past anymore and that to repair race relations (because the US is NOT a "post-racial" society like everyone likes to think) we should start highlighting the ways in which people on ALL sides have helped each other in the past. I feel that today's kids (who are the future) would benefit more from being shown HOW it's possible for people on different sides of a conflict to be good to each other instead of only showing them the reasons why everyone hated each other in the past.

Peace, harmony and understanding are not profitable for the devils that rule the world. Much love from a Italian/Brazilian lady from Brazil. BTW Brazil is the best country in the world. No segregation here. Anywhere you’ll see the diversity of human beings together. I was really shocked when I went to church with my black friend in England. That was a very big packed church and I was the only white person there.

Everytime I hear stories like these it breaks my heart. I'm a 40 year old white man from London UK. I grew up with white, black, Asian, Jamaican, African all races of all walks. Many are my great friends for life! I have never ever seen them any different, never spoken to them any different. Racism is something that has been built into your brain by very ignorant and uneducated people. You are not born being racist! We are all as one. We are all soul's!
@weedermann
@weedermann 5 месяцев назад
Nice comments. What would cement them into reality is the day you find yourself in a social situation where a White man is not on top. Not on top and even maligned with no recourse. When you are targeted, all you can do is minimize it and endure when it happens. To speak of it is just to open the door to being jeered and labeled a "victim". Let enough Whites get targeted and trashed in this way, the emotional helplessness will finally open the eyes. Then someone like Trump won't be so able to use bigotry as his means to an end.

You forgot two of my favorite bits: (4:04) = Tony casually littering chicken bones and Doc following suit until he makes the driver pull over because Tony tossed a plastic cup. “Pick it up” / “Oh come on the squirrels are gonna eat anyways” can be heard as they slowly backed up to the cup Context: Doc wandered off to get a drink in local pub and was getting harassed by a trio. Tony Lip gets there and tries to talk them out of it. They keep on until Doc’s Driver says “Listen assholes, do yourselves a favor and let ‘em go… NOW!” ending with a startling yell. The biggest of the bunch tries to dominate him by pulling out a switchblade. Tony counters by seemingly holding a gun behind his back. There were in a standoff until the bartender who was a bystander in the situation pulls out a a sawed off shotgun who tells the guys to let him go. After that, Doc believed that Tony bluffed his way out. (10:25 - 11:00) = When the protagonists entered, Tony realizes there was a pair of guys staring the moment Doc took out his wallet to pay for the food. After the show, Doc and Tony were walking out of the building, ready to walk onto the parking lot. Next, Tony’s instincts kicked in by pulling out his gun and firing two shots in the air. It turned out that the pair of guys were handing behind the longer than usual car, presumably for easy cash. The best bit after that: Tony - “Don’t ever flash your wad of cash in a bar” Doc was drenched in sweat from recent exhilaration, shock and stood there for four seconds until he said “I knew you had a gun”

I shouldn’t have to demonstrate my humanity to be considered human. That’s the bittersweet thing about the story.
@peacebeyondpassion2

No, you shouldn't have too but you do. The question is are you going to be like Dok or are you going to be a victim of hate and prejudice. I say this with all due respect and experience, that *only love kills hate.* Love in the face of hate and you will literally change hearts!
@osassabi2202
@osassabi2202 Год назад
@@peacebeyondpassion2 no victim here. Just making observations. There’s something inherently wrong with the fact that, that’s the default for some. That you would see another human and immediately think you’re better than them. It’s a sickness I only engage with when there’s money involved. Otherwise, I weed such people away from my space.

Awesome recap. One of the best channel in recap movies. However, I think there are few points worth mentioning in the recap: 1. Tony pawned his watch 2. Tony wants Doc to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken and threw the bones out of the window 3. Tony picked up a gemstone in a gift store which the Doc wants him to return it (which later on prove that the Doc knew Tony didn't return it as the gemstone became a lucky charm) 4. The Doc was beaten in the bar and Tony rescued with stating that he has a gun 5. The Doc was rescued by Tony again in a pool after been arrested by police for homosexual which Tony bribed the police

There are some situations you didn't mentioned, for example one of the last scenes where the cop stop them to help, in my mind this means that not every white people is like we expected to be, or the moment where the black field workers stare at him, due to the wealthy situation he has (but in reality he face the same problems as a black person as they do, or even worse). In my view, you have to see this kind of movie by yourself instead of see some recaps of them, because you can't just cut some moments out that contains emotions. But don't get me wrong, I still like the recaps. This kind of behavior against other culture will never end as long as humanity exists, the nature of humanity.

You should watch "Loving" which is also based on true story. Interracial marriage was not legal in all the States until 1967. At 13, I recall looking at Life magazine and wondering why they couldn't just be left alone to be happy. I only knew that, like them, "my world" was always integrated. People don't realize that without certain laws, nothing would be different. Sad to say, some want to revert!
