New subscriber here, awesome review! Great to see doubles. I love the Boom MP as it's lightweight, easy to swing, and doesn't tire me out. Also very comfortable. I have not tried the Lynx Touch, I like Volkl Power Fiber Pro.
Could you recommend a string set up for the racket that will balance it's natural attributes? Thoughts: 1) I was thinking perhaps a 1.30 guage hybrid with round cross and a lively, shaped main. 2) full bed of Lynx tour 1.30 (in orange to complent the blue frame of course)!
Hello Kent, I like your reviews and OpenCourt is one of my favorite channels 👍! What about adding some weight? Would that help and fix the issues? Regards, Thomas
Thank you so much for your support! I really appreciate it. Yes, I think adding weight would fix most of the issues except the really open string pattern and launch angle. This is why I prefer the Pro version because it's heavier to start with and has a slightly tighter string pattern.
Hi. Good review but I think that advanced player needs to put some lead on this boom mp. What I do on mine (about 8/10g) with hyper g soft. And the result is great, better than the pro for me. Maybe you should retry with a little customisation (handle, throat and 3/9h). 😉👍
I added lead tape to the throat to increase the heft without making it too head heavy. I also opened up the butt cap and stuck tungsten putty inside to make it more maneuverable.
Interesting--I did almost the opposite, adding 2 grams at 12 to get less shock and more pop in the upper hoop. Also added 1 g in the lower hoop as that area seemed a bit dead. Balanced with a leather grip. It's nice but heavy now (351g), although very headlight.
