Live bait for the kob… it was in a rod spike- he didn’t even know he had it on until he checked his rod🤣 But yeah, the Mariana is proper, and we’ve just added a second one- keen to test it out this weekend🎣

We really do put in the hours, there’s no doubt there💪🏻

Here is my post on Facebook: Story time…😉 Welllll… ABOUT last night🤙🏻🎣🔥 For those that know me, know that I have been an 11ft angler for the longest of times… in fact, had no interest of owning a bigger rod… EVER🫣 About a week ago, I decided to test out the Okuma Fishing Africa Euphoria 4-6oz rod (and it’s AMAZING👌🏻). But last night I had the privilege of trying out the top of the line Okuma Mariana 4-6oz, and was simply BLOWN AWAY by the capabilities of this rod! Now hear me out here: -I am new to casting with a bionic finger -I have had to learn a new casting technique (the cast is very different to a short rod that I’m used to). So what does this all mean, and what am I trying to say?🤔 Well… on my first cast I got stuck into a small sand shark… not much of a fight (as you can imagine). Put a live bait out for my second throw, and after about 15 minutes got absolutely flattened! Now you must understand that I was fishing with a Kob setup (5oz sinker, 0.9mm Araty Leader, 120lb braided leader). This was about a 20 minute fight, and about a 500m walk down the beach as this shark got into the rip current…🙈 But let’s get back to the OKUMA MARIANA: - it casts a country mile (this coming from someone who is new to longer rods and bionic finger). - it is sensitive (like you won’t believe) - it is powerful and strong - it has an amazing rod action - comes standard with top of the line FUJI components Now what does this mean for you? Well, you get an extremely well priced rod, that is high spec and can handle anything you throw at it! This beautiful female raggie came in at 168cm, which is just shy of 90kg (according to Wikifish). So if you’re looking for a high end rod, that is half the price of other brands top of the line models… I’ve just given you the answer😉 PS: video to follow soon👊🏻🤙🏻 Do I feel it’s better than a Euphoria? YES- in every way- I’m in love❤️ We have just bought a 7-9 ounce because we love it so much🤣
