In this video, I showcase a Roblox beta feature on the upcoming physics update. So far, these physics are super janky for r6 and result in some hilarious clips. #jtoh #roblox
I know about the hipheight thing, there is nothing I can do though because the video is already posted. So just note that this video isn’t very accurate to the new character controller, and the beta feature also isn’t available anymore
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing I just wanted to say, it’ll just make Obby’s newer and require a redesign new unions and such require these features I’m sure they’ll find a applicable balance
Everybody's like "oh nooo obbying is ruined", but I highly doubt Roblox would implement the physics update in it's current state. If they did, it wouldn't only ruin obbies. People would have to make their own physics engine. We all know Roblox sometimes makes bad decisions, but this would be going too far. Let's just hope the actual physics update doesn't mess up obbies.
I'd like to see someone implement some of the physics shown here in an obby, mostly the glitches. Imagine having normal roblox physics and being able to do these glitches in obbies. The potential for extreme difficulty and creativity is insane
i love how the most SIMPLE objects manage to send you flying. you could be stepping on a transparent rectangle and than Roblox manages to mercilessly fling you into the skyrooms and than combo you with an epileptic seizure about 2.4 seconds afterwards.
NOTE: The new physics engine is currently in beta, I’m sure they’ll fix it for R6 users because if not then that just makes the majority of players not able to play, and they’ll lose tons of money. They always fix bugs for Beta features, this is just a feature that devs can give feedback on.
These new physics are indeed so realistic! I love it when I glide against a upright wall face first into, and especially that part where you jump thousands of kilometers to noclip into the Backrooms!
I'm gonna be in the mega minority here but this actually looks really promising. If they're able to iron out a lot of these kinks, it would resemble the old ROBLOX physics from around 2007 to the early 2010's. I see a lot of potential here.
as long as you make it optional i wouldnt mind, roblox however tends to break a whole lot of games whenever they update because they force changes on everyone Minecraft does it perfectly fine having 1.8 servers and newer version servers so why would roblox not be able to?
when the beta release came out i was so excited on being able to jump in cars and stuff without being thrown off (it was possible on the gravity controller but, you know not every game has that) so as long as this is fixed too, im really hyped about it
Ye, it's not in a good state currently. I think you might be able to fix the leg thing by going into properties of the StarterHumanoid and setting the HipHeight. Also, the new physics are 'supposed' to improve rotating trusses and moving platform by making the character move with them and maintain their momentum. Unfortunately, this does not work very well. Hopefully, they'll fix some of these issues by the time its out of BETA.
@@flintfrommother3gaming currently you only have to use blocks with body velocity as most moving blocks don’t have any velocity and they just change their positions
I actually got a good obby idea. I do not know if this is a bug or not, but when jumping on a high-angled slope, the character kind of "slides" up the part, going inside the gap of a big cylinder and a half-sized one, it can fling you far. (also apparently walking into a wall ragdolls you.)
AFAIK, in the usual Roblox physics engine, humanoid characters are given special properties so they stay upright, and only very strong forces are capable of knocking them into a ragdolled state, and have unique air movement that causes them to slow down rapidly with horizontal movement. On top of that, they also use a different form of movement when walking not entirely dependent on physics, I still don't entirely understand how it works but it's still there. The new engine appears to be lacking these most, but not _all_ of these special exceptions, causing R6 to behave very strangely since characters aren't supposed to have mostly-standard brick physics.
I could legit see Roblox implementing this without being fixed for r6 considering their recent track record. If they want to phase out r6, and force people to use rthro, then having a physics update that’s broken for r6 might convert a majority of people to rthro or more realistically r15. People wouldn’t leave Roblox just based off of avatar package physics.
@@limesodagod Exactly. So then Roblox wouldn’t care and r6 exploiting would become an issue for Roblox devs to solve. Therefore probably leading to r6 bans in some games.
Don't think roblox would deliberately cripple their own physics engine just to affect r6 in a negative way. Just doesn't sound reasonable, they can remove r6 at any given time
This would never happen, there are thousands of games raking in profits using exclusively R6, even if they were going to phase out R6 it wouldn't be by crippling their own systems and we would have been informed in advance(or maybe like a day before they do it considering how they handled the audio rework).
At that point, you could just make a cool playground with many stuff to goof around with. I might probably try it. Suddenly, 2 months later I get a notification that someone liked my comment, and I realized I completely forgot I even wrote this.
This is just an update to the character controller itself, not how roblox handles physics. The issue with the legs is because of one of the properties of the running state being set to 0, which is like having your HipHeight set to 0 for r15 characters. Also yeah, I do hate this new character controller as it feels very weird to use. There will be lots of bugs, and I'm sure that roblox will allow you to toggle between this option when it goes live.
this could make for like obbies with some extra hard wraparounds where you have to hug the wall and climb across it at the right angle without falling or make for a way to do very long jump distances which normally wouldn't be possible with regular roblox physics
I thought of that. The legs phasing through the ground and the character going nuts by touching the ledge of an object really reminded me of that old goofy roblox physics
seems like they going to plan to make it more realisttic. but it would be good if they added a feature in studio so u can have the old physics for ur game, else it would ruin old obbies. but i am actually exited to see new obbies using the new physics! they are like cyberepunk. lots of bugs, but if they get fixed, itll get great!
Those physics really had to come, its so refreshing to get physics update, this one looks more old-school, like back in the days you could bounce off surfaces too.
Physics update in a nutshell: - Every part has 2 studs of concrete layered in the top face - Player no longer has friction - Chance of entering subsimulation area increased by 4800% - Random chance of sticking to surfaces, followed by random chance to be paralysed
roblox has said this will replace the current character controller however they also said they'd make sure to replicate its usual behavior, however they're not going to replicate every single little bug. they are aware of how buggy this beta is and that obbies utilize engine glitches and they said they will try to keep those intact.
@@Gabe-riel corner glitch was fixed separately because it could break many other games as well by letting players go out of bounds. i forget what the forum post said exactly but i know they said they're aware of obbies' reliance on some glitches and they said they don't want to break them
I wouldn’t mind a physics update but maybe have the option to turn it off for some games or automatically off until a game decides to update with physics
its just old roblox physics from 2005-2013 or smth, would be cool if they fixed most of the stuff and kept the flinging and soft landing (when you land, you sink into the ground a little)
Its not,old roblox physics is buggy and if u climb things its normal unlike this one and it doesnt slide on walls so i think its a remake of the old one? Idk
If this us a optional feature and gets polished alot more I would enjoy seeing new unique obbies that feature it, it looks good except for the major bugs
@@zerotian5661 whatever it is i dont think roblox would be bold enough to completly change the physics without making it optional for games though studio
I'm pretty sure this will be *optional* feature, because right now it is quite buggy and it's no wonder it's in beta, but even if it goes out of beta, It would still likely to be optional.
I have a feeling its to adapt r15 and r6 into the same avatar model, thats likely what they meant in the super infamous r6 removal post. (Making roblox avatar limbs contort and bend with the mesh update)
I would actually want to see somebody make an obby implementing these physics just imagine how hard it would be or how goofy or the speed run strat people could come up with using these physics but let’s hope this isn’t permanent but it’s cool
I think the main reason why the physics behave like this is because they didnt make them with R6 in mins but rather the new unified R6/16 hybrid they been talking about for a while. It may actually be the entire reason behind the update. Also all of this is Beta so they definetly will fix most of the bugs.
i feel like even in it's last state this fix thing controler will be super glitchy and the glitching comunity will find a blast out of it (also you will probably now do longjumps by doing it on an edge or smth)
doubt this will happen cause even if it does get dropped noone will like it and if they don't fix it then jtoh players gonna be very angy so then they gonna quit and so will other R6 users, and maybe when they patch, corner clips will be back anyway fingers crossed
They should need to update it to a extremely realistic physics and need to reduce mb of the application by using land generating and it will still generate if you teleport and needs to fix map loading in rp games because players keep falling into the void and roblox needs to speed up asset texture sounds animation loading very very fast.
there might be a legacy physics option (like legacy materials can be used materials when the value that makes it use new materials is set to false) so games that can't work with new physics won't be broken this could make some abandoned games less playable but it won't break them all also they might fix the physics or at least make hip height set properly edit: I thought of a better solution it can keep old games as legacy physics automatically but new ones use new physics
