Tbf, eternal is weird among the stakes in that it's only a downside some of the time. Specifically when you're offered eternal jokers that are only fine but which you don't want long-term. Other times, such as with Madness or when you get the spectral cards that destroy jokers, eternal is nothing but an upside. No other stake acts like a buff some of the time.
@@henriknobinder7395 I mean it’s true that eternal can be useful in some fringe scenarios, but how consistently are you hitting Madness as well as other jokers that power up your run that are eternal? How often are you hitting 1 of the 2 of 18 spectral cards that destroy jokers? How often are you hitting your perfect endgame build immediately? Compare that to how often are you buying a low power joker to keep yourself afloat or to help win in fewer hands to keep your econ up? How often are you taking an econ joker to get more money to reroll and buy other jokers and open packs? I’m not saying that the eternal sticker can’t be (very) situationally useful, I’m saying it’s way more often a downside than not.
@@henriknobinder7395 acthually there are other buffs... **pushes up glasses** Rental is an upside in the short-term, because the Joker only costs 1$ initially. This is especially notable on Diet Cola and Luchador, as you can sell them before the cost even happens. I'm not actually sure if Diet Cola can spawn as a Rental (Food Jokers can't spawn as Eternals, for instance), but I know Luchador can. Even outside of those two, sometimes you only want a Joker for one blind, or maybe you're literally about to fight the Showdown, and so the Rental cost doesn't matter; the run will be over when it hits. also rental vagabond can be okay sometimes i guess but i'd argue that's less "rental vagabond is good" and more so "rental vagabond is sometimes less bad than other rentals" Perishable can also be an upside, though in an incredibly niche way: gold stickers and Baseball Card. If an Uncommon Joker is debuffed, Baseball Card can still trigger on it, and debuffed Jokers still give you gold stickers for completing Gold Stake with them. As a result, Perishable Food Jokers can actually be nice, sometimes--they won't destroy themselves, so they'll just sit around as blank Uncommons for the rest of your run. The stickers part is more likely, but I've had a run where a perished Seltzer was one of my only Baseball Card triggers. In general, it seems that Localthunk the tags to be like this: higher stakes are still hard, yes, but they're not *exclusively* punishing. Instead, you need to play around the bad parts and be adaptable, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of everything, and how to use the various Joker Tags to your benefit.
The way wildcards work isn't too intuitive but I'd explain it like this: A wildcard is all 4 suits at the same time, and for each interaction it picks the best suit. So if you have bloodstone and you play a spade flush with a wildcard the wildcard is a heart card for the bloodstone but it's ALSO a spade card for the flush at the same time.
Eternal jokers start at Black stake difficulty, Temporary Jokers start at Orange Stake, and Rental jokers start a Gold stake (as of the public beta build. Temp and Rental stickers aren’t in the base game iirc)
Often streamers and those in front of a computer choose to stand because sitting for long periods can have detrimental effects on the body, such as back pain and bad blood flow
