Gambling is technically illegal in Japan, but they get around it by not paying out your winnings in the same establishment you win them at, instead they send you to another store to trade in your gambling credits
@@bugeye3847 sort of, they also have legitimate gambling like pachinko tho. you win little steel balls and to trade them in you usually go to a gift shop type thing separated from the pachinko hall.
After I visited one, there was like a dude who stood in an alley, just staring at me. I was creeped out but then he said "Credits? Need to convert Credits eh?" That was the official trade-in guy. He looked like he was ready to shank me to take my money.
