I lost it when she said that... I didn't know how to take Queen Charlotte and now I totally love her...and to know she was a real person makes me see her in a different light ... what a strong woman she was...
I think Lady Danbury telling Violet to "leave the hats where they are" was kind of her saying "Let's not go down this road. Keep the happy memories of your father. Don't let this ruin how you remember him."
FUN FACT!!!!!!!! In the ball scene Charlotte hosted, she made sure to make the theme "galaxy/stars" to make Geroge comfortable with the enviromint. Her crown and dress had stars and moons on them. The ball was at night to set the theme and she had statues of zodiac signs in the background.
I believe part of the reason Charlotte was so adamant about her children providing heirs was because she was afraid that George would be forgotten in history. She wants him to be known and loved the way she loves and knows him. It’s a shame that it affected her children so much though. Just sad all around.
@@dudajaques that’s what I think as well considering all of their children were adults of she wanted to marry them off she would’ve done it a long time ago I think for her it was a race against time and she wanted to be able to tell him his line would live on before he died …it’s crazy in real life George actually outlived Queen Charlotte by a few years
@@marcusmelancon3426 his wife, three of his children and his granddaughter - sad thing to outlive them all. heard his children's deaths affected him pretty badly (mentally speaking), wonder how her death affected him
If you watch Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton you’ll notice she keeps her older style clothing and hair while the other ladies are more modern. That’s bc she always wants George to be able to recognize her. 😭
For some reason it felt flat to me. There just wasn’t enough build up to them falling in love. I could see him being smitten by her from the start, and having intercourse would likely cause them to form an attachment, but beyond that, I kept wondering what I missing. People kept raving about this show and they hyped it up so much that my expectations were high and it ended up being just a mid-level show for me.
@@IndieCindy3 i believe it's another approach to love. It's not the sexual, lustful love that we seen in season 2. This time it's a unique couple with unique sets of lives that have fallen in love the first time they've seen and met each other. George had been hiding his feelings from her the entire time. Charlottle had no idea how he felt about her but could only assume and trust during that scene. Unlike Kate and Anthony or Simon and daphne, their first time was beautifully done and not aggressive. He was soft and gentle with her and knew she was a young girl (17) and wanted her to enjoy it. Of course, their sex became a lot more aggressive as their tension went on a course, but it was clear they found pleasure in one another. For the entire series we had no genuine communication. He was hiding himself from her to keep her safe. He thought he would hurt her and hated that he was so in love with her. When Charlottle took a stand to stop this paradox of him showing himself through desire but his hiding emotions , she knew she had to get to the bottom of it because she realized she had fallen in love. For the first time, we see a shift in her character as she decides to reject his command and stay there to find the truth. If you actually take in the moment without anticipating some sort of remake from previous seasons, you will find yourself emotional in the outward realness in his confession. *"I'm a mad-mad, I'm a danger, in my mind there are different worlds creeping in"* is gut ranching. Especially the delivery of his voice and gestures. Charlotte reassuring him from his self-hating words by saying *"“George! I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth, I will tell you where you are. DO. YOU. LOVE. ME”* is powerful and beautifully delivered as well shows great built up to George's final *"I LOVE YOU"*. Then Charlottle having a sign of relief and George going on to use the stage given to him by Charlottle to confess about his feelings and his love for her. Everything he was hiding to protect her is now being announced to her in a tearful, emotional way. You could tell there was so much more he could have told her, but he desired her so much and wanted to follow his heart as he says, *"my heart calls your name"* and going in for a passionate kiss. For the first time in his life, he chose to follow his own heart instead of trying to avoid it. We could have gotten a chapter's worth of confessing but he couldn't take it. This was love. Not "just" lust. That's why people loved the scene so much. Also fun fact, India was only 19-20 years old filming the brilliant scene. And Corey had a leg injury during filming. It's also his first serious role but he did amazing. Beautifully done series and a break from all the sexual focused arenas we were used to in the Bridgerton.
I lost it at " Farmer George, come hide from the heavens with me. " 😭 awesome reaction as always, I got emotional watching it the second time with you guys. Their love is beautiful.
I feel so bad for Princess Augusta, all she wanted her whole life was to protect her son from something she didn’t understand in a world where she couldn’t be listened to :(
unfortunately i feel that these are the pains of motherhood (i myself am not a mom). Mothers want the best for their children and try to guard them with all their might although sometimes their best intentions caused harm to their children. Unfortunately children (myself included) don’t see the big picture or don’t see the story behind why our mothers do things, we only see our side and the hurt that’s been caused by them. We may blame them and hate the popular saying “it’s for your own good” or “it’s what’s best for you” since kid’s are only kids, moms try to protect them from the harsh reality. Just as you said, they have to/had to protect their babies in a world where women’s voices were belittled and not heard and there is only so much to be done. I know i’ve struggled with my own relationship with my mother and now that’s im an adult, she’s finally opened up to why did things and it really shows how unfortunately under certain circumstances, people (especially mothers) can only do so much and how even thought it was done with the best intentions, those intentions can cause harm or was not what children needed to go through.
They ended this series with THE BEST scene of this show. The scene where George thanked her and held her hand, and the particular part where she looks at him as young king George, when they were young, things were better, as if time had stopped for her years ago. Unconsciously tears started falling down my eyes. That scene just was heartbreaking, beautiful and soulful in every way. It didn't just made me emotional because because they have aged and how the handsome, charming George turned into this condition, cause we all age, it made me emotional because it is the reality of life. Nothing stays the same. Because of that particular scene of young George's flash infront of Charlotte, and ofc vice versa when King sees young Charlotte too, this show is going to stay with me for a long time. And after watching this scene, the previous clips of the show hit even harder. The parallels of their young and old versions were so perfectly done, it is probably the best scene I've watched in a long while.
man the way these bridgerton men love and adore their women 😭 I've literally never been the same ever since I heard "you're the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires" knowing none of this is ever gonna happen to me irl HURTS
zuff: "show me the blood" bryce: "zuff!" zuff: "im joking! if you knew me, you know i'd pass out seeing blood" bryce: "oh, hope i get to know you soon" this interaction 😂
imagine loving someone that much 😭 everything charlotte did, she did for george, she wanted to secure george's bloodline so that his suffering wouldnt be for nothing 😭😭 my heart breaks, like brimsley said, she really is his queen frozen in time
The last scene broke anybody with a sensible heart. The fact that Charlotte seem to be the only person to get through to the king and actually find “Just George, Farmer George “ was heartbreakingly beautiful. Queen Charlotte is the best series thus far because I’ve never rooted more for a couple to succeed despite the numerous heartbreak they had to endure.
I loved how realistic this show was. It didn’t paint Queen Charlotte as a cure for George. He was who he was and she stood by his side through it all and that’s real no matter how painful. Also their struggle as a love story made more sense then the bridgerton season. People love and fall in love with people who have chronic illnesses every day and make the choice to support them, I think it’s great that was portrayed.
My favourite Bridgerton love confession scene! George didn’t confess his love for Charlotte even after she told him she loved him. He only admitted it after she told him that his illness doesn’t matter and she’ll stick by him through like that’s so REAL. She made him feel safe to be vulnerable and I love that so much.
This hits harder than THE NOTEBOOK. Queen Charlotte and King George are based off of the real royal couple. Sadly, in reality Queen Charlotte died a few years before King George (and he was never told bc he was so far gone). It’s truly heartbreaking. He probably saw her funeral procession and had no idea it was his beloved.
Yeah what makes that even sadder was the he was blind and deaf at that time. therefore, he could not be made aware of her passing because there was noway to do so.
I loved that they showed that people with mental illness deserve to be loved and that love didn't cure his illness because to be loveable, you don't need to seek cure at all costs, went above that - she still choose, didn't try to change him
This was bittersweet, especially considering how worried Brimsley was when Charlotte went to "visit" the king. This rarely went well, judging by scenes in previous seasons. Also, he never calls for her; he's probably almost always living in a different world of his own now. And going under the bed does not always work. She cried because this time it did, because this time she wanted him to fully comprehend that they will have a future beyond their children. I actually went and rewatched the scenes with the king in the first and second season, and it's brutal how scared she is when he shows up being crazy in his own world and time.
one of my favourite George moments that I've never really heard anyone talk about is in the birth scene. He sees Charlotte is in distress and instead of asking one of the many men and doctors in the room, he turns straight to the other woman who is there and asks for her thoughts, even though she is immediately dismissed by the doctor. And he then listens to her advice over the doctor where most men would've considered a woman's input completely irrelevant
me watching this reaction, having watched tht scene an unhealthy amount of times, thinking it won't get to me me during the scene sees rob shaking his head to stop himself from crying and tears glistening on Bryce's face: starts crying immediately. then i looked at zuff and snorted coz he looked like he was abt to hit them with "sorrows, sorrows prayers" lol
Most experts agree that he was bipolar with acute mania, meaning he was triggered by stressful situations. At the end of his life it is also believed he suffered from dementia. Queen Charlotte is supposed to have died the year this show ends on if you go by actual events. The King dies 2 years later. Oh! and the grandchild on the way is the future Queen Victoria.
Think of the other events going on too...as if being King wasn't stressful enough he had the French & Indian War, the lead up & then eventual American Revolution, the French Revolution...not to mention all that torture ("treatment") likely had effects too.
What’s also a little funny about the new heir being the future Queen Victoria is that my research showed she was supposed to be the first one to debut in a WHITE wedding dress (although white dresses were still seen in the nobility and royal family because white dyed fabric was more expensive) and this drive the trend toward white wedding dresses in Western society; meanwhile, all the Bridgerton weddings showed someone walking down the aisle in a white dress years before she is even born lol.
The heir was Queen Victoria. She ruled for over 60 years. King George would indeed have good days and bad days for decades. Charlotte basically ruled on his behalf. Amazingly, with all of his physical and mental challenges, he outlived Charlotte by two years.
The ending was one of the best in Netflix tv shows, when Charlotte said care not of his sanity, but his happiness and soul, in our society when ppl appear sane among us many actions and damages are insane and fatal; what’s true sane and insane? This is incomparable to the Bridgerton 2 seasons where love was passionately sexual, the acting from this young cast was stellar. Thanks for reviewing this series with us.
QC definitely surpassed the previous seasons for me, though it does have the luxury of a ~complete story. It just felt so well written and satisfying in everyone’s stories(even though they’re not necessarily happy endings). I also love that Charlotte is a flawed character in a lot of ways but was the perfect person for George and the best queen she could be. And Lady Danbury’s story of perseverance and finding independence while still having gotten to experience love(briefly). I just loved it, getting emosh typing lol
On behalf of "really old women" I can convey that the Violet/Lady D. c situation has been resolved. The older women (who have lived life) acknowledged the incident/understood what happened and there are no ill feelings. Trust me, their friendship is intact.
i honestly think that Charlotte's disattachment from her children is cuz of all that she had to endure. Like, at this point of her life, she has pretty much lost George most of the time to his mental illness, she has had to take the lead on the royal duties of George cuz he was unable to continue, she couldn't really tell anyone what was happening cuz of the image the royal family must portray (most people ended up finding out anyway) and she had 15 kids, and lost 2 in childhood. I think she just couldn't let her emotions control her anymore because she probably wouldn't have been able to deal with everything she's had to deal with if she let her emotions in. Not saying that excuses her from some of her behavior, but I can definitely understand why she does some of these things and always seems to appear unattached from everyone
Ugh, that was rough. Thanks guys, enjoy your reactions.. Before my mom passed away, she had told me that every time she saw me, she couldn't help but to see me as a little kid because it was etched into her memory. 😢
I don't know if someone else has said it already but king george and queen charlotte were one of the only happy marriages in the history of the monarchy. We know this because even though it was extremely common at the time, even encouraged, king george was one of the only kings that never took a mistress, ever. He's forever faithful to charlotte and they did have 15 kids so it's fair to say their garden was BLOOMING. What he had was porphyria (it is actually a blood/metabolism disorder that has neurological symptoms, he mentions some of the physical stuff when he talks about his colic as a child). The thing is that this disorder is extremely rare and to this day there is no cure. So even in modern times, king george never had a chance, at least he would have had a diagnosis, but that's it. Also HUGE props to the actor that played king geroge and the actress that played lady danbury because this was their first proper jobs, both had only had one line in a show before this and they were both amazing. I mean, what a way to start an acting career.
Thanks for crying with me as I rewatched the episode with y'all. I also cried at the Brimsly-Reynolds waltz scene - such unsung heroes without realizing their love story til the end.
I cried more seeing Brimsley and Reynolds dancing, and then cutting to Brimsley dancing by himself. Whether the implication was that Reynolds was dead or gone, it was heartbreaking that they couldn’t be together. And it was aggravating to see Charlotte asking Brimsley if he had ever married. He was loyal as heck to her, but he was just a mere afterthought to her.
Charlotte and George are FOR SURE my favorite Bridgerton couple. I've never had a couple on Bridgerton that made me cry before, and after episode 4, when we saw what George was going through to be with Charlotte, broke my heart
I loved this season. The best Bridgerton season by far. Charlotte got her royal baby-the future legend Queen Victoria. Watching Brimsley dancing without Reynolds broke me. The ending scene is beautiful and sad and perfect. I’ve enjoyed watching this show with y’all!
This season has totally become my favourite of Bridgerton immediately the love and compassion of Charlotte and George’s love was so pure and well acted and that line come hide from the heavens with me broke me loved these reactions.
I think it’s possible that Charlotte kept asking if George died bc their children haven’t had heirs yet. So if George had died, he wouldn’t be able to see their line carry on. Her asking about George dying could probably be more so from that sense of love & responsibility rather than wanting him to die.
Shonda Rhimes and the while writing team is so good. She is also responsible for Greys Anatomy, Scandal and How to get away with murder, all featuring strong black female characters.. this one just hits different emotionally for me ❤
Anytime anyone sees someone they love as their younger version in films it is absolutely heartbreaking and now having a little boy i totally get it. You always see them as your little one or how they were when you first met them and my God it just punches your soul hahaha. Cried so hard and absolutely creased when you guys started laughing hahaha oh what a beautiful ending. They soent a whole life together, even if it wasnt perfect ❤
This series surpassed both Bridgerton seasons for me, it was just so good with such a lovely and heartbreaking love story, two lovely and heartbreaking love stories. (still not over not knowing what happed to Reynolds!!) I would love to see you react to Lockwood and co or shadow and bone! I think you would really like them. Both amazing series and book to show adaptations.
They called it the "Madness of King George". For the longest times they thought he had Porphyria but current medical opinion is he was Bipolar. Either way the Doctor in the basement was not helping and was really just a sadist who was on a power trip because he could control a King. He purposely triggered George more than once to prove he was right. But Brimsley... Love Brimsely. I didn't really care for him in the Bridgerton series but this made him so real, and selfless.
I think what broke me the most was the fact that she loved him so much and treated him with such respect and humanity. I can’t even imagine how people with mental illnesses were actually treated back then, so it made me happy to see this beautiful romance and know that love isn’t loving someone despite their flaws, but loving their flaws as well because it’s part of them
I LOVED seeing that as well, but then cut to learning about what a bad mother she was. And inquiring about Brimsley’s love life after decades of him being constantly by her side felt so insensitive. He meant nothing to her and she clearly showed it.
@@IndieCindy3 I think she was like most mothers of her time. Lady Danbury's son hardly knew her. Nannies and governesses raised the children in families with a lot of money.
I had already seen it but cried again anyway, both at the Do you love me? and the last scene under the bed. Thank you for being so open with your emotions on camera 💙 Shonda Rhimes is an amazing writer
This really got to me. My sister has bipolar disorder and she really wants to find love and have a family but she has resigned herself to being alone forever. She refuses to bring another person into her life because she does not want to burden them. She is the sweetest most loving person but this disease has taken so much from her. Her career, her friends, her adventurous spirit. All she has is her family and even that is difficult to maintain for her. I literally can not stop crying right now. If only she could find her Charlotte. Oh how I wish there was someone like that for her.
@@ejikemeetudo6766 Thank you for your prayers. That is nice. I would hope that if Jesus and God do exist they wouldn't be so selfish to allow people to suffer. We only have each other for the short time that we get to exist in this world. That is why I thank you for your kindness.
I think when George said he is hiding from the heavens, he must have meant his abusive father since each King is regarded similar to that of heavens. I think the father's abuse affected him to the point of no return 😭 This is my favorite season out of all the Bridgeton
Oh my god, this show has so many sneak peaks into bigger stories... it's like a puzzle and I did not see that piece or make that connection, but it makes so much sense 😳
@@taonga97bangtan It was his grandfather that Princess Augusta said abused George, after they had to live with him after her husband/George's father's death. George inherited the title from his grandfather.
You guys are just so sweet, never hide your emotions it's what makes you amazing. I hope all three of you are blessed with the most precious relationships ever. What a fantastic reaction ❤
All of the little details Charlotte put into the party to George would feel comfortable when he looked around he wouldn’t feel lost. There are zodiac signs, symbolism statues. Astrology everywhere. His hobbies, and what he was passionate about so he could just remain just George. 😢❤
The ending is even more bitter sweet when you realize the implications of Prince George & Princess Victoria's announcement. Queen Charlotte dies in real life 6 months before the future Queen Victoria is born. Unless Shondaland does another major history re-write, Queen Charlotte is dead within weeks of that last scene.
Oh gosh I wish I hadn't read this, that's depressing. I'm just going to imagine that doesn't happen here, since this is sort of inspired by historical people as opposed to being about their actual history. Alternate Universe stuff I guess.
You guys turned into absolute puddles in that final act and I kinda love you for it. Vulnerability is a strength - keep that, it’s good. “No, George. I did not go over that wall.” ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"I burn for you" "You are the bane of my existence and the object of my desires " "My heart call your name"❤️🔥 *crying knowing that no-one will say things like that to me or love me like these bridgerton mens😭😭
Watching Bryce and Rob fight tears brought me back to the emotions I felt when watching it for the first time! ugh, it was actually heartbreaking. Such a heartbreaking love. You can just imagine Charlotte watching him slip away from her over the years and all she’s gone through. When she said loving someone is a choice that hit so hard. She chose to love him not just for the George she loved, but all of him. She said it years ago and she stuck by him and that is what’s beautiful.
I loved this series and that final scene crushes me every time. I think this episode showed us the cost to Queen Charlotte standing between the heavens and earth for George. To remind him who he is and where he was. She became estranged from her own children. Not fully present for them in the way they needed. It would've been a challenge to be a fully supportive parent given the times while also being queen. Then add having a husband, who is king, and suffering from mental illness. Something was going to suffer and unfortunately it looks like her relationship with her children. It pleases me to know that their heir was Queen Victoria who is widely regarded as the grandmother of Europe.
Seeing him in the carriage broke my heart. Exactly how i feel before a big presentation. Can’t see the words on the page. Can’t breathe. Can’t calm myself. Hands shaking. Anxiety can be so bad.
It absolutely is a happy ending, true love, just their version. No love is perfect, but this love is beautifully broken and that’s OK. I appreciate you gentlemen’s reaction. It was genuine. We all want a long lasting love to last a lifetime!
If you pay attention to the wardrobe queen Charlotte and her court wear the same type of dresses style she wore during the time she met George while violet and lady Danbury wear a more current style of the time this might be because she doesn’t want to startle or scare George making him Feel like many years have passed by another thing that supports this theory is when brimsley answers her question about her daughters not marrying he says she’s forever frozen in time forever being his queen
ive watched this show so many times already and I ALWAYS tear up at the love confession scene.....it is just so beautifully done. Corey and India are truly extraordinary🥹🥹 Edit: after watching this i forgot how much the last scene KILLS ME🥺🥹i like how they ended it with showing a tiny glimpse of happiness, showing that even tho George isn't himself most of the time anymore, the love between them is still as strong as ever😭🥹
I know this is an old comment but I just finished it a few minutes ago and I think Brimsley dancing alone killed my soul. I love Charlotte and George but Brimsley not being able to be with Reynolds hurt my heart. 😞 it was devastating
I have mad respect for Queen Charlotte!! Like you said, she was taken from her home; the only place she knows to marry the king of the largest monarchy in the world, and to top it all off she manages to become an amazing and respected queen, produced huge advancements in the desegregation of high society and care for George. She has her flaws, and I respect her for that too. If I had all that on my plate, I might not be the most hands-on mom to 13 kids either. Adds a relatability to her character!
✨ *Your reaction to this made me want to watch the whole show even if I'm not really a fan of the genre. I just finsihed it last night and it was sooo tragic yet beautiful. I cried on the last scene watching you guys without even knowing the full context but finally when I watched the entirety of it, my heart felt soooo heavy and sad in a good way. I fucking bawled my eyes out with Brimsley and the Queen's story. Definitely a good show. 10/10 for me for romance/drama genre.* 💕
I was literally refreshing your channel multiple times a day so I could watch your reaction! The ending scene under the bed was so sweet and emotional! ♥️
Fun fact : the babygirl Edward and Victoria are having will be the future Queen Victoria of England . "A strong Queen is exactly what this country needs" that is literally the future . Sadly, in reality Charlotte dies before Victoria was born so few weeks after the ending scene . The show won't follow that for sure . I just think knowing that makes the scene even sadder. Also the fact that George won't know 💔
Fun fact the child edwatd had was a girl the only heir later becoming queen victoria our longest reigning queen until queen elizabeth 2nd took the title.
THe sad thing about Queen Charlotte and her children was that she had to focus all her energies on caring for the King, keeping the Palace secrets and ruling in his absence…. That she never had time to be an involved mother. I thought this was a beautiful love story about not only how love starts, but how it endures through the years and all the pain. At the end, Charlotte and George see each other as they were when they first fell in love. They still have that same deep love for each other.
For me Charlotte and George shot to number one by almost unrealistic margin, I can't imagine anyone topping that. Their love was so strong and visceral and palpable, I felt it so strongly. Simon and Daphne were hampered by problematic story aspects. Kate and Anthony didn't really make me feel anything tbh and didn't leave a big romantic impression. I mostly enjoyed them for comedic scenes instead.
agree! simon and daphne were very problematic imo and kate and anthony felt flat to me. charlotte and george are leaps and bounds better in my eyes. better written, better story, and better acting.
Violet about to open a can of worms that she's not gonna wanna use for bait 💀💀 Charlotte and George are OTP 10/10, can't change my mind, made me believe in real love and now I'm gonna be forever alone until I am *PROPERLY* courted 💅🏽✨ Lady Danbury should be Lady DAMN-bury bc she really be doin' what the heck she wants and despite her past with shitty Herman, I respect how far she's come and how she's helped push forward the ton in terms of racial disparities. I'm sure there's still more work to be done (reflective of real world circumstances), but GOD is it wonderful to see how masterfully Shonda Rhimes fucking flexed that! 😍😍 Anytime she and Princess Augusta were on the screen, it was electrifying. Watching Danbury hold her own and Augusta telling her to cover her scars and endure, such a wonderful window into the woman's world at that time. I have so much respect for them both. The last 10 minutes of this show was so incredibly heartbreaking to watch, I am deadass never going to recover. Anytime I watch this damn ending I am torn to bits, all over again. Loved this journey with you, can't wait for Penelopollin in S3 of Bridgerton! :) Hope you guys are ready!! Also, if you watch Bridgerton and loved it, I expect y'all to start courting women like this (KIDDING) or maybe not kidding, maybe you guys are romantics at heart (well maybe not Zuff in the traditional sense) AHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
