I don't think the writers are making him out to be a liar, but to have repressed memories. He saw the whole town die as a child so he's psychololigcally broken.
You don't get autism from PTSD😂 he would have to be autistic from the start. And there's nothing in the flashbacks that shows he was nuts as a kid. He's either suppressing the truth or flat out lying & playing dumb.
Trauma most definitely causes memory loss, its one of the main symptoms of severe childhood trauma. Usually they start to resurface in late teens or early adulthood, obviously victor has still been living in the circumstances that caused his trauma so he hasnt been able to face his past.

Compartmentalization is an actual thing. Traumatized humans can lock certain things away in their brains and forget them. Those locks protect them from the feelings and the memories

What you may have overlooked is that Victors mum had a vision of Fromville. From that she made trees, art and bracelets. Wouldn't be surprising if she made Talismans or found them before Christopher, perbaps rounded them up to hide them - where Boyd eventually finds them. Also won't be a stretch if from Miranda's vision she knew where to hide from the monsters and Victor was told or learnt that from her.
This was very interesting! And some food for thought... Maybe they're all trapped in Victor's nightmare. Something similar to WandaVision, where he subconsciously created that town.
This is my theory. He says "This is my home" which is really weird because he clewrly has memories of the house he grew up in. I believe the monsters are a creation of his mind somehow. I have never seen any monster go after him
This is also my theory, and similar to the WandaVision parallel, I actually thought of Moon Knight and considered that Victor has DID, and we are experiencing a retelling of his story from another personality, only to see toward the end that he has been committed in an institution for his delusions and hallucinations. I believe all the players in the town are real-life people who work in or around the hospital, are his family, and there are references to things that may be in his room or common areas of the facility (jukebox, the paintings [that could have been drawn by him and other townspeople who are committed]). Moon Knight S1E5 is the reference for my theory.
I feel like the more Victor remembers, the worst the situation will get. But as for hiding, it's clear the monsters don't really look for people like animals. They didn't sniff them out or anything like that. The monsters just wander around and if you make noise or attract their attention then they come after you. Look at how the people were hiding when Boyd showed up, big holes in the ground with a sliding cover with dirt and grass on it. That would be laughable obvious if the monsters were actually looking for people, but they are just wandering around.
We don't have evidence the monsters were active in the time when the town was empty. I think Victor was removed from the entire terrarium world of Fromville. Victor even has a drawing of Fromville from the OUTSIDE where it's shown to be a snow globe or terrarium. His drawing even shows the monster tunnels beneath the town.
We do have evidence that monster where there victor said it and they showed all the dead bodies with there inside ripped out what are you talking about you clearly don’t watch the show because those monster been there from the start
@@B2liveee What are you even talking about? Victor said it was YEARS when the Boy In White was his only friend. He never said he was hunted by monsters in those years and really, how could he have evaded them 365 days a year for several years by himself? It makes no sense.
@@B2liveee the monsters were there during those times but that was when everyone was alive, before the massacre, after that they probably didn't return every night to hunt him down so Victor was all alone with the boy in white as his only companion.

I thought the same thing, I would’ve been his best friend and grew peaches for him to persevere them myself if that makes him happy. Whatever Victor wants he gets as long as I get answers from him 💯

Jade has the right approach, maybe him and Tabitha should sit down with Victor and have him explain his drawings (and put them in order), but definitely need to find out what Victor did and saw for forty years in Fromville!
I thought this plus think about it. He showed Tabitha how to get out, his punishment is that they brought her back and his father. Maybe original deal was to keep dad safe.
He understood the town, He was there with others before they all passed and honestly from vile likes to torture more than kill. He was a young boy with no one. Were the monsters really looking for him?
to me its clear why he is lying though. like he has seen people do these things probably several times and everytime he sees them either go insane or get killed, so he simply doesnt want to feed in to like his symbol obsession as he seen it make chris go crazy. i agree he knows more than anyone, but i dont think hes malicious. hes kind of doing the boyd thing like maybe we dont tell about the magic tree so a bunch of people get trapped in a wall. victor is doing that in his own weird way. i really really doubt hes like a puppet master and is secretly being malicious. how he survived is a good question, but we also dont know how it was back then. we have seen things change like the seasons etc, and with that it seems the monsters are getting more diabolical, it could be that they need or want some people here, maybe killing everyone isnt their goal. and hes obviously familiar with the forest it could be that he found a safe place to live like the talisman hut etc
yall gotta realize tho his trauma from what happened and being there alone for YEARS he didnt even get a school education so hes just a survivor at this point and probably pushes those bad memories so far down he couldnt remember
Unless Victor is a Master Manifestor with real powers as a kid who had mental issues and he's bringing those people to his dark mind realm. I'm sure he would have seen pictures of different states as a kid and how they lived and maybe his imagination brought people from those locations to Fromville so he wouldn't be lonely.

I think Victor survived becouse he was last one. No one would noticed his death, noone would care. There is the reason here somewhere, I think its about family ties or - and this is my best shot - about parent - kid relations. Maybe his mother death make him untouchable.
He is sus as fck. Like you said: how did he manage to stay alive so many years/nights? How did he manage to stay undetected in the monster cave for so a few nights?

He's not lieing.. He was traumatized. He's forgotten the bad stuff bc of the trauma. Remember there were lots of hiding places. Maybe the monsters didn't want him. Yes he doesn't always volunteer info. Remember when he was talking to Ethan about the trees how his parents acted. He doesn't trust easy. Also his mom just told him to hide and not come out. She never said anything about Christopher... Maybe his survival makes no sense, but does anything make sense. How does Christi get to Fromville? Then a couple years later her gf gets there... Nothing makes sense here but I think whoever or whatever is the creator of Fromville kept Victor alive so he could tell future people about the dangers etc. So that's why the boy in white was created, to take care of Victor. But I dont think he's lieing at least not on purpose. I like you and your channel. I may not agree with you always, but that's the fun of these discussions.
I can honestly say with all the crazy theories and so-called proof videos this is one I kinda agree with the most especially the part about Victor being the boy they wanted. Granted Im not watching this cliffhanger of a show to figure it out anymore im just waiting to see what happens
Victor's father never asked about his daughter, Victor's sister..... Why? Perhaps she never actually existed? Edited: Sorry, his father actually made mention of his daughter when he showed Tabitha the room they used to sleep in. I guess I didn't pay attention to that when I watched that episode the first time.
Tabitha is Victor sister that got out was found in the woods she doesn't really remember or it is twisted memories. "Got adopted by hispanic". She said her mom had a bracelet so she made one identical to it to remember her mom. There was the same bracelet in the storae room of the diner that was Victors mom bracelet "her real mom" and one was also in Victor dad so he had the matching one that she probably made for him also but doesnt remember. All in all the are in purgatory . Or it's going to happen all over again where the Ethan will be the new Victor and it'll repeat

My point though is why wouldn't Victor's dad ask after his daughter? He and Tabitha talked about his missen wife and son, so why not his daughter as well...if he actually had one?

This is so bad 😂, victor is being protected by the boy in white , why we don’t know, but all victor has done is try to save people. He was a kid who say the worst and the boy in white took care of the bodies so he can continue to live. There’s no reason to not believe after the massacre the monsters don’t go dormant until the next phase of people.
It wouldn't surprise me if the monsters kept victor alive to warn the next people coming or even to have a conversation with him because the odds of him surviving for so long at such a young age seems impossible.
In a more realistic scenario, I think Viktor will be interrogated when it is learnt that he has been there for 40 years (regardless of his psychological state) or when he starts digging graves for everyone, and if he does not talk, he will be subjected to violence. It is a miracle that a new one is not added to his traumas. Viktor is the first name that will come to mind when you think there is a mole. Viktor, who managed to survive for 40 years while the second longest living person in the town was 3 years, is the first and only person who will attract lightning.
one thing for sure is that we will probably get another big reveal from Victor's memory. How do you could completely forget about your mother and sister? lol. Wouldn't surprise me if the ones we have been shown were not the complete truth and Victor completely remembers those memories we have been shown and it's not the same as they were revealed.
He remembered his mother. His sister had run away from the shelter because of him. And the next day, the mangled corpses of his friends and acquaintances lay all over the city. Who would want to remember that?
The monsters can't wipe out everyone in Fromville because who would be around to educate the newbies about the rules in place. Also what's the point in killing Victor IMO to the monsters they've already won because he tries to always follow the rules, his family is already dead so what's the point he's a beaten dog. Depending on how long he was alone would also let us know that the monsters can go for years to decades without eating humans if they need to at all or whether it's a necessity or a scare tactic. Honestly Victor reminds me a lot of my brother with Asperger's (high functioning ASD) but I would need to see more of Victor as a child to see if he was already ASD or did the trauma and years of isolation and malnutrition make him antisocial and affect his psychological growth.
Now the part about the talisman I do agree. How did he manage to live that long without a talisman. That's why at first I was wondering if this was all in Victor's imagination and he's making it happen. And if these creatures are from his nightmare and he's the creator of these nightmares then the creatures wouldn't kill Victor b/c then it would mean they would die. So therefore, they'd protect him, hence the boy in white and tell him certain secrets b/c it's his brain or imagination.
It is not that unbelievable to me that he survived without a talisman, clearly he's chosen. His name is LITERALLY "Victor" What's more unbelievable to me is that the man that lives off of peaches and seems to know nothing about crop cultivation, he fed himself, especially as a child
I actually thought that Victor didn't want to see his dad because his dad could realize that he wasn't actually his son. My other thought is that Victor wasn't alone. There seems to always be people coming(and going 😊). The frequency of this event might actually be a clue theyvare overlooking (just like 2 arrivals at the same time).
I don't agree with this ideas. Never underestimate the resilience of a scared child, his mom thought him to always hide in different places. And him not disclosing everything he knows is on one hand a defense mechanism, on the other...well, everyone sees him as a weirdo, and pushes him away. He even got an entire room for himself, whilst others sleep on the floor, that's how much people prefer to have him separate from them. Only Ethan, the kiddo, Tabitha and Sara, were actually kind to him and curious about him. So it is understandable he is like this. His social skills were lost due to a lost normal life. Leave Victor alone 😅
What if everything is part of Victor's mind. He's the oldest living resident. What if his mind is so powerful he created this whole world that traps people in it.
I think the monsters thought they had killed everyone when the whole town had died. So all those monsters didn’t come after him because of that. Victor witnessed everyone die all at once at young age and he lost his family and had to be alone amongst dead people for years so that’s why he doesn’t want to talk
I'd like to remind you that when Victor was 10 years old, he was searching through mutilated corpses and had some ghost boy as his friend. He ended up, as a child, in a situation where even adults couldn't stay sane, and it was even worse for him because he was alone. No matter what we say about the current events in Fromville, the presence of another human being will always be somewhat comforting. Is Victor hiding something? In my opinion, no, and we shouldn’t even consider his character in the same way as other adults. He is a deeply traumatized person, still displaying childish behavior, strongly repressing the worst memories. He’s not some mastermind of intricate conspiracies; he’s a man destroyed by this place.
First, memories are tricky, and second, we've seen the creatures play with Boyd, making him watch others suffer. Unless you also accept that Boyd is a liar, then you are full of it.
I believe he is not Victor, he is the guy who killed everyone and talked to the doll, he isn't even the son of that man and the man will reveal it. Victor is Christopher, he killed Victor, that's why the boy in White is the real Victor. That's why he keeps personal throphies of everyone he killed
I dont think he's evil. I think he's traumatized, stunted and because he has lived there for so long has seen some horrible things he does not want to relive so he avoids it in every way he can. He finally decided now he needs to remember. I also think the boy in white protected him as a child until he could fend for himself
In one episode where Victor saw Boyd's arm worms, he wasn't particularly phased by it suggesting he may have same worms as he is always wearing long-sleeved tops.
Thank you for this. no one ive been following seems to have picked up on this. I have felt like Victor is witholding info purposefully, not just from trauma-related memory lost, however i didnt think it or he was malevolent but perhaps so. Do we know for a fact there was years between the massacre and when new people showed up? If so that would further prove that something isn't right with Victor, whether he knows or remembers it or not, i feel like Victor is involved with the negative entities in fromville and they have protected him.
Victor was seen in the real world as a cross dressing woman with red pants and a white shirt. From is not what you think it is. It’s more like the wizard of Oz. It’s all a dream.

They keep harping on the theme that the "town" or whatever entity is behind this feeds on HOPE. Everyone in town was slaughtered except Victor. I feel the town/entity let Victor live all of those years because he was the only one left. What would "it" feed on if the monsters killed Victor?! That is why he survived all of those years alone, at least in my opinion.
The writing for this show tells me they're shooting from the hip and don't really know how to end this story. It's basically like a story being told by a child nothing connects and things just happen mostly without cause or explanation.

Someone needs to make a Victor meme, with him flailing around and yelling "no, no, no"!...lol. I do like Victor, though. Victor said the Boy in White was helping him, so maybe that's how he remained safe.
I think it's quite possible that Victor brokered some deal that would keep him safe and protect his father(as someone in the comments stated). The notion that Victor has been a resident of the FROM for so long and there isn't any evidence of the townspeople even trying to uncover all that he knows is unbelievable regardless of the armchair psychological analysis of others in the comments. No offense given. I genuinely like the concept of the show BUT the conversations, or lack thereof, continuously reminds me that I am watching a show that is conceptually intriguing, but aggravatingly subpar in its execution.
👍 Fascinating Theory.... I guess we never think about Victor because we think he's mentally handicapped or autistic and we pity him so we never mistrust him like we do people like old Tilly. But its definitely something to keep an eye out for now that Victor's dad is in FromTown with him

I wouldn't say he's lying. I can't see him lying He's just misremembering things. Lying implies intent to deceive I dont see that. At first I was thinking how in the heck he forget a sister, but we have to keep this Trauma he's Experienced, and still Experiencing is to the Extreme of any real world trauma a regular human will ever see. So the greater the cause...The greater the effect.
"This scene proves Victor is lying" not necessarily, not when you consider other theories. here's my take on this one - you can actually survive for more than 40 years, even die of old age if Fromville doesn't need you or want you off.
Victor isn't lying he's special needs or has Autism and coupled with PTSD is making his memory worse. 🙄 Someone with special needs like autism causes their mind to shut off and go into deeper repression of memories especially during extremely stressful events or causes them to lash out which is why he takes a gun out almost immediately if you're confrontational with him. He's very fearful and doesn't know who to trust. But Autism doesn't mean dumb. I think he's on the spectrum.
