The best way to circumvent waking up tired and erratic sleep patterns is by following a strict sleep schedule. It’s not in the amount of time you sleep, or even the quality. It’s about consistency, I battled with insomnia for years.

@Yamaharider98

@@ipeed what helped me, was watching videos on how the U.S military gets rid of insomnia. They start by going to bed at the same time every night, whether you’re tired or not, create a habit. Then, once in bed you slowly start to decompress and shutdown your body, one section at a time. A professional video could explain this much better than I. Just look up “how the military falls asleep”. It will take about 2 weeks of dedication but eventually your body will fall into a routine and start producing melatonin around the same time every night. As far as mornings go, set one alarm, multiple alarms gives you options. Set one and get up, you might be late once or twice but you’ll learn to get up. My teens and early twenties were hell, now I wake up like clockwork, we’ll rested, without an alarm every morning.

The main issue is falling asleep at those times - when I go to bed, it can take up to an hour for me to actually fall asleep. Even when tired. So if I want to get up at 8, I would have to "go" to bed, at 10, or 12:30, as it takes me awhile to fall asleep. But sometimes it doesn't take me an hour, it can take less, sometimes even longer. Even if I manage to get on a routine sleep schedule, I still felt a bit tired in the morning and felt the need for coffee.

This isn't a very useful information ... It's not 90 minutes for everyone, that would be completely unrealistic. Let's assume the duration of one cycle can vary by 10 min (90+-10)min, if someone sleeps during, let's say, 5 cycles (+-7h30), it would mean that the incertainy becomes 50 min, and that the optimal time to wake up after 5 cycles could be anywhere between 6h40 and 8h20, which is huge. This info is just gross simplification with no scientific method whatsoever

One wakes up tired because our conscious mind becomes overdrugged by the sleep state. Although science says we should sleep 8-10 hours, the reality is that one Should only sleep for about 6 hours and have naps in between. This allows the conscious and unconscious mind to have a balance and not overridden by the other.
