I looked up your list of 227 rules of patimokkha. Didn’t see this addressed. That is the list of rules governing the behavior of Buddhist monastics. But I am by no means an expert.
Okay so i called up my buddy who is Buddhist and asked his thoughts on the skin care. According to him, A monk probably prayed over the water used to make the mask, not the actual product itself. It's not uncommon for monks to bless things in exchange for a small donation to the temple. It's weird to do it on such a large scale, but not inherently wrong. So i guess it just depends on your comfort level.
I think the real question is: Are they actually having monks bless/pray over the water? Maybe I'm just jaded, but I find it hard to believe a skincare brand would actually have a monk pray over all the water that goes into their mass produced skin stuff.

So obv it’s more likely they’re just lying, but I grew up Catholic and they believe that if you put even one drop of holy water into other water it would make the rest of the water holy. My 90 year old grandma has been extending tiny bottles of holy water for decades. 😅 I wonder if they’re using a similar thought process? Get a small amount of water in a vessel blessed and then put one drop into a vat so they can say it was blessed since it technically has a drop of blessed water in it

I had a high ranking, called a Dalai, Buddhist Monk bless a business I used to have. He asked me if he could do it as we were doing some printing work for him. I thought it odd but he explained that it was good to bless things then send them out into the world so others could be blessed. I'm sure it's much deeper than that but that's what I remember. Another FYI, the Dalai Lama is the highest ranking Buddhist Monk and the ones immediately under him are called Dalai. Most of them have taken training from the Dalai Lama at some point in their lives.
I love how you describe scents. Scent is so connected to memory and you manage to evoke the memories perfectly and with it, the scent. Even if you don't know how to explain the actual smell, I still know exactly what you mean. New years eve with your parents and hotel linens and the vague scent of strangers, was absolute perfection.
My theory for the palette is that maybe if you use up certain colors and don’t want to throw it away, you could use the key to pop them out and replace them with new ones and continue to use the palette because I know that happens to me sometimes I gravitate to the same colors over and over again within a palette and then dont end up using the others as much.
The commercialisation of religion for mass market does feel a bit ick, because the majority of their customers would likely not be buddhist i guess? Buddhism is often highly commercialized by western cultures though - just look at all the buddha statues, food products, even bars.
When you said that brush looks like a kitten paw my automatic thought was that someone should try applying makeup with kitten paws and then I actually made thoughts and decided that was a terrible idea
Since you used (and I assume you don’t want to waste it) the crème blush, I think it would be good as a blush “primer” to help your favorite blush stick and stay! 💜
the mask being blessed by a buddhist monk turns it into a buddhist amulet. these amulets are small & mystically powerful objects believed to have the ability to provide a person carrying it with good fortune and protection from any type of mishap. part of the mask is absorbed by your skin so youre technically still in possession of the buddhist amulet even after rinsing off the mask. to put it simply, buddhist amulets are similar to crystals in that they’re believed to bring fortune and protection. the mask doesn’t have to be blessed individually, they can bless entire batches at once
Almost didn’t want to ask this, cause don’t want to reveal my own ignorance, but would this be equivalent to one of those amulets that the little kids carry, or go buy, in “Old Enough”?
The quality of Boxycharm went to crap once Ipsy got involved. Boxy used to have all well-known, great brands for a great discount compared to what the box costed. Now it's basically just ipsy (the base box anyway.) & way overpriced.

I'm glad your finally got that ADHD diagnosis, I got diagnosed last year at 23 and once I was more knowledgeable I could totally see the symptoms in you but it's so funny LMAO. You look gorgeous with the cream blush and that highlight! I used to do a full face for work everyday but since the pandemic I've barely worn makeup, I work at a factory anyways. If I do wear makeup tho it's concealer w some cream blush, I feel like it looks so fresh and more natural, so if it does wear off it's not as noticable
Every time I see mini beauty blenders, my mind immediately reminds me of when Julien Solomita bought makeup for Jenna Marbles, and then proceeded to chew on the mini beauty blender because he thought it would be like a cloud. I believe he said it was a magical experience, but I can’t remember lol
Well that explains why my dog keeps stealing and chewing them. I’ve lost 4 to her so far. 🥲 I always leave it out on my desk while I’m doing my makeup and she snatches it the second I’m not paying attention.
I vote that you get a metallic sharpie; and then Velcro it to the door frame, so that when you get a package, you can mark the date it was received. Lol. It helps me keep organized. And Velcro is fun to play with, so it’s easier to remember to use.

So I love the eyeshadow thing and just have to say whatever eyelash serum you said you are using is amazing! After putting mascara on it looks like you have false lashes, they look stunning! I'm so jealous! 💕💕💕🤯

That cream blush makes your skin looks so youthful. If you’re worried about it budging you can always set it with translucent powder or a blush topper.

I actually really liked that blush on you! It might look nice if you used the blush highlighter topper on top too! If it's a powder, it might help the longevity of the cream blush. Just a thought.

id recommended watching Cassandra Bankson’s video about La Mer, she really gives you all the details. In short, something about a scientist that burned himself, and made this cream to soothe the pain. They played music and light shows for the cream while it’s being made, something estee lauder still practices. La Mer also allegedly has a history of connecting with psychics, it’s all a hot mess. There’s even claims about the scientist eating the cream, asking people to put it in their eyes and what not
Oh yes, Korres is an excellent Greek brand, everything they make is high quality and very eco friendly! One of my absolute favorites for skincare/bodycare. They have a delicious selection of makeup products too 😄
Completely agree with you that most companies have to condense things. I think that when Loot Box expanded from twelve (still huge number) different boxes to about forty that it caused the downfall of the company
Okay, I giggled ad the part about a Buddhist monk praying and blessing skincare. I always say jokingly 'is this makeup product/skin care thing blessed by somebody to be this expensive or...? I don't think Buddhist monks would approve caring so much about your physical appearance (after all it's the, soul that matters, the body is just your container and hampers your soul from reaching the Enlightenment) so I suppose the thing which was blessed was one of the ingredients used for the skincare rather than the singular boxes of finished product... maybe they blessed the water source? Catholic priests bless cattle and fields so maybe that's a thing for Buddhists too...?

We usually have tons of overtime but one of our suppliers was set on fire so it's been non-production all week. We still go to work to do tasks. That supplier also supplies other companies. Its insane. I'll bever understand things some people do. I mean do they really think, yeah, this is the best idea ever..
I’ve received a few 5-pan Natasha Denona pallets from boxycharm. The other day I dropped on. A few of the pans fell out and I discovered they Cain pop out and are held in with magnets. So I put all my favorite mattes in one, shimmers in another and all the shades I’m not inspired to use in another. No little key to pop them out tho
You probably already looked it up but on your Luxe Months you don't get your base box. Its an upgrade to your base every three months. So they really only have two boxes and an optional upgrade every three months. I'm not defending them, I also think its too many boxes but I am also guilty of keeping my subscription for absolutely no reason :)
I really like the blush on you and I thought the eye shadow pallet was great and I really think the boxes all in all were pretty good except for the blenders
Oh mannnnn, Glamour Shots.....how nostalgic....I love it! Dang it, I don't get Boxy anymore though so I am NOW totally gonna have to find me one of those "skin flap thingy's" of my own! I use some cheap disposable Amazon brand of "sticky pad thingy's" and I would absolutely love a multi-use, less waste, not so sticky, soft as skin "thingy" instead! The Buddhist blessing bit isn't that weird to me. Then again, I've had blessings slapped on all sorts of things by various and assorted entities. Also, I think of VE Cosmetics (incredible, BTW) which is made by a couple of witches in the UK, so ... Anyhow, Dew of the Gods makes some pretty decent products. Their PWRNAP retinol undereye stick and Fog cashew milk cleanser are 👍🏼. I've been enjoying Boxycharm this year. Not every product is a hit but I feel like I've been getting my money's worth. June's premium box was bangin' IMHO.

The company I work at makes potato chips for Always save and once a month a jewish rabbi comes in and blesses the film and ingredients we use. So I’d imagine it’s similar. He just basically blesses a whole batch at a time and they are able to say he’s blessed all the products.
I'm Buddhist and there are many schools of Buddhism but a lot of the monks will bless things like this but probably more like one product used in it like water. My teacher blesses pets, rosaries, pendants, etc.
Skin care companies do the most to stand out from others. They went as far as to have it blessed then it better be good 😂 also your hair is looking very luscious these days 💜

Very sceptical over the Buddhist monk blessing. Doesn't seem like something i would assume would fit into the little I know about Buddhism (happy to learn more if I'm wrong). It feels similar to lots of other western appropriation of eastern religious symbols and practices for profit or aesthetics. Feels icky.
I use the revlon uniq one treatment which is basically the same as the bae stuff….my hair dresser recommended it about a year ago and I will not use anything else anymore it makes my hair amazing (I know we all have different hair types) but my hair dresser uses it on every client and I’ve gifted it to other with very different hair and everyone absolutely loves it! The best part is it’s only £8 I would love to test the bae one to see if there is a massive difference as seen as there is a big difference in price points! Xxx
That is correct. You don't get a base box when you get a luxe box. My Lorac palette didn't look like it had green shades at all, and I didn't get the little key! 🤔
You should see the mini nars lipsticks, they are so tiny and cute lol 😂 and that highlighter/ contour palette you don’t need to use barely any product! I love it. The other day I forgot foundation and it still went beautifully on my face haha 😂
