Got that tip from a youtuber back a couple years ago, in a video like this. used it a ton and its actually like cheat codes with having better quality but shooting in a smaller file size. 4K files get big so I do say this is the best way to get 4k on RU-vid while constraining a good file size for editing with.
@@christianjmedia yeah apparently it's a bitrate thing. YT likes 4K 100Mbps uploads, whereas 1080p goes up to 50Mbps or something. Really nice cheat code to not have your beautiful footage destroyed by YT compression
I’d recommend going about a different method to upscale. First set your project resolution to whatever you want, then You should go into the video file properties after importing it, and enable superscale. It will use AI to upscale and denoise the image rather than just putting a 1080p image in a 4K package which’s true upscaling.
I have a 3080 and super scaling lags it when using that method that’s why I suggest the render up scale method as the AI features like with the noise reduction for audio can be pretty taxing on a system even of good spec.
@@christianjmedia simple solution is to enable smart render cache, but upscaling by simply exporting at a higher resolution isn’t upscaling and is a waste of time and does no more than setting the project resolution to 4K and importing a 1080p clip.
Can you give me some tips on shooting in low light. I am NOT a good editor and I do a lot of livestream in low light. I appreciate it. I like how you keep it nice and simple. Thank you!
If you’re looking to do low light on the Sony FS5 I would recommend shooting in the native ISO which is 3200 and if you’re getting muddy shadows using S log in low light, I would suggest switching over to cine or HLG picture profile as it gives the same dynamic range but cleaner shadows.
@@christianjmedia here is a link to my video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zgVnOcMXOXE.html. This is how I shoot all my videos but when I edit the grain is terrible. Thank you for any advice and thank you for keeping it simple for us. Trust more people need help like me but just don’t want to admit it. I can and I like how you keep it simple for us. Too many people talk like we are frighing film makers! We just need some help to get better
Do you have the raw upgrade on this camera? I bought the c100 mk ii last night for $900. I was deciding between that and the fs5. I’m still low key intrigued by the fs5 and might return the c100 for it.
I do but I/you still would need the Atomos ninja inferno to capture the raw signal from the fs5 so it kinda a bummer but it will be 15bit raw coming out
@@christianjmedia would you do a low light video for the fs5? Because I'm truly struggling with slog2 and low light with this camera. Ik it's something that I'm doing wrong.
Only if your looking to do some extensive color grading. 10bit just offers more color so the image doesn’t fall apart when trying to manipulate colors in post.
Have you tried upscaling with SuperScale or is that not worth it? (I've only heard of it, so I can't judge) On a side note, I'm considering buying Resolve because Premiere is still having major issues with Nvidia drivers. For projects shot in ProRes RAW I'll still need to use Premiere though (since converting to CinemaDNG is such a hassle). Do you think it's worth the time investment to make the switch and learn editing in Resolve?
Not sure what superscale is really lol but ill look into it but as far as DaVinci I haven't had any issues with any codecs on it but I do have the studio version and I know that some of the supported codecs are locked behind the payment so the free version wont cut it but I say its a good one time investment to go DaVinci even if you don't use it they update it a ton and its pretty stable at every release. I learned it in less then a year.
@@christianjmedia Oh I assumed it was built-in into Resolve, but it might have been a 3rd party plugin. Please correct me if I'm wrong haha. One thing I do know for sure is that Resolve doesn't support ProRes RAW (and most likely never will). If they supported that I'd make the switch no questions asked. Fucking dilemmas man...
@@HalfBaked it is built in, and superscale is the correct way to upscale. It uses resolves AI to upscale and denoise the image rather than just repackaging the 1080p image into a 4K package..
Ok back again now. I'm not getting 10bit. Where on your screen (in DaVinci resolve) it says 1920x1080 mine is saying 1280x720. Why is that? Can anyone help me out.
Hey man, great video..I’m reaching out from Australia and having trouble with my fs5mkii I can’t seem to find the RAW files when I upload SD card to my machine. Also I’m struggling with getting clear image with the settings suggested just looks noisey especially when I film outside shots.
Raw is only external on the FS5 unfortunately using SDI port of your getting noise your iso could be too high or you need to be using the ND so your ISO (gain) won’t be cranked, if it’s noisy in the shadows that could be due to the lack of dynamic range on the FS5
