This Ship is BIGGER Than The TITANIC! - Stormworks Queen Mary Sinking Ship Survival

Fun Fact: the Queen Mary, during WW2, was hit by a rogue wave which is in this game a Tsunami, but she survived it. What a coincidence, right?

Did you know Queen Mary handled a 80 foot rogue wave at the side tilting it to starboard 85 degrees?

Yep, that's the RMS Queen Mary for ya. Just a quick rundown on the ship: she is a retired Cunard Line ocean liner who was built in 1936. With a length of 1,019.4 feet and a speed of about 33 knots (or 37 miles per hour), she was both the largest and the fastest ship in the world for a time. In World War II, she, along with her fleetmate, the RMS Queen Elizabeth (who sadly isn't still around), played a critical role in transporting troops to and from the crisis, with Mary having the still standing world record of carrying more people, 16,643, than any other ship in history. Eventually though, the day came when she was outdated by even newer technology, first when the American vessel, the SS United States, shattered her record crossing time of the Atlantic, and then when the jet age started, forcing all ocean liners nearly into extinction. As you already know, she's a retired hotel attraction. It's super cool that this same guy built this ship (though given the fact he also built Titanic, I'm not too surprised; he's most likely what we call an ocean liner buff like myself, so I'm pretty sure he'll be doing more builds like this in the future): when I saw the thumbnail I went: "NO WAY!!" Awesome video, Camodo. Maybe you can do a multiplayer sinking survival based on The Poseidon Adventure (look that story up) at some point! :D

It's actually realistic that there aren't any lights on the bow. It's so that the crew on the bridge can see better at night

Pretty interesting note about the list, the Queen Mary actually had stability issues in moderate seas that even lead to modifications on the hull. There are many accounts from passengers that in rough seas things would fly around. The dining rooms actually had their chairs attached to ground. It was not a very stable ship despite its size.

You know the Poseidon (1972 film) ship design was inspired from the queen mary and so the models of the ship was based of the queen mary appearance

Fun fact the Queen Mary is still out there it is docked at Long Beack California. It is one of the most haunted place in the world, you can see it right now actually.

Fun Fact The Queen Mary is a ship for the Cunard White Star and eas the first ship of the conversions of the rivals oceamliners at the time and the RMS QUEEN MARY is yet as you said is haunted but it also served as a troop ship as well as the RMS OLYMPIC AND THE RMS MARUTANIA both are rival ships.

I recommend staying on broad! It’s a beautiful ship! The time the ship was in Service was from 1936 to 1967 her top speed was about 36 knots or about 40 mph. She was the fastest ship of her time. Until her stabilizers were installed in 1950s she had the nickname of “rolling Mary” because she would roll a lot even with the littlest of wind. She had an accident in WWII where the front of her bow was damaged by ramming another smaller cruiser. When she was traveling to Long Beach she got hit by a rogue wave and got to the near point of being capsized but because of her hull design she righted herself back and she pushed through he storms and made it to Long Beach Any questions about the Queen Mary just ask. I used to be a thesaurus when it came to the Queen Mary, because she had such a unique history.

It also held the Atlantic Speed Record,a.k.a the Blue Ribband,until the S.S United States in 1952 which still holds the record to this day.

Regarding it being hit by a tsunami, the Queen Mary was the ship used in the original Poseidon Adventure movie, and Queen Mary herself was hit by a rouge wave in I think 1942, which rolled her almost 90 degrees from what I read. This incident is what the Poseidon Adventure was based on

I think the reason it sank sooo fast was because you were at full speed in real life the engines would stop propelling and it would slow way down! Especially the sinking.

Fun fact about the ship Irwin Allen used this ship and a model of this ship in The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and Beyond The Poseidon Adventure (1979).

You can see what happens to the queen mary in a movie called the "Poseidon adventure" (1972) movie. Not only was she the original inspiration of the film after an almost tragic real-life event, but she also played a role in the film as the ship. She was nicknamed, the Rolling Mary.

The only reason the ship sank fast was because as it sinks if you leave the ship going forward it will drive water in faster.

She was still listing after the tsunami. That fits the actual Queen Mary. She was known to 'hang on the roll' in rough weather, and took time to return to an even keel after heeling over.

Theres actually a Queen Mary 2. It's the only ocean liner that still in operation and has modern engines, and is also larger that the Queen Mary.

The max speed of the Queen Mary is 32 knots. Fun fact Queen Mary held the The Blue Riband (Atlantic speed record) from 1936 to 1952, when the record was taken by the current riband holder S.S. United States.

the ships pool is haunted because myths say that a ghost pull people underwater. Great vid!

This ship travels at 31 knots. It was powered by oil engines and a backup kerosene engine. It has massive steam pipes and a lot of energy is created from the engines. ~24,000 kilowatts. To put that in perspective it a house typically used 5,000 kilowatts a year. So there is your history lesson of the day.

Queen marry was actually hit by a wave and was leaning to her side. And the original Poseidon movie actually used the queen marry for the ship.

Anyway did you know that Queen Mary exceeded the length of Titanic by 137 feet and Queen Mary herself was 1019 feet, 4 inches long! She aslo weighed 80,774 Gross Registered Tonnes (1936) and in 1947 it increased to 81,237 Gross Registered Tonnes! In fact she was owned by CunardWhiteStar as they forced to merge in 1934 due to the Great Depression so they could complete the ship and build a running mate called Queen Elizabeth. The government funded the construction! Did you know the Queen Mary held the blue riband (an award for the fastest crossing of the sea) from 1938 till 1952!
