“If it bugs you, fix it”. - find the most annoying part of your process and automate that first. :). Love that

I love this man, got to meet him in 2018 during the mhub open house and dinner afterwards. I gave him a piece of my geometric art and he was very appreciative. His optimism is charismatic and infectious and I appreciate how humble he is.

Pretty cool tech in your shop. You hit the nail on the head with the extra sanity checking. People do not realize what it takes to develop software to cover everything the end user or in this case the robot will do and how to mitigate the potentials. Awesome job. I have a lot of respect for the automation solutions you put into place. My background is software development and IT in general so this reminds me of playing a game of chess. Always thinking ahead!

The training with qr code videos is a genius move.

Probably just the way this was edited but all this has come from Paul Akers, who in turn learned it from various Japanese companies. Surprised there wasn’t more reference to it. Lean people are usually very willing to share their thanks and influences, so I’m sure it was just the way the film was cut. Incredible implementation however, well done all involved!

Hes got a great shop and is obviously doing well but the machines better be running while talking bit makes me think he's a hard ass. Like obviously its a given but if you have super short run cycles like 5 minutes or less it can get very monotonous especially if you're afraid to talk and have the cycle end.

I feel like the guy interviewing would definitely be better to work for overall especially because I enjoy job shop work most people don't enjoy production.

If you want to make money in this business and in the state of California, yes you have to be a hard ass.

if you watched, he talks about reducing the short run time parts either by automating it with their grabber or some other variation. he doesnt want 5min cycle times for 1 part, he wants to fit in 20 parts so he can get an hour and a half between exchanging parts in the machine that way his guys arent doing the mindless work.

If you owned the business, would you be fine paying your employees to stand around and talk? Honestly ask yourself that question. Sometimes we just have to put ourselves in someone else's shoes.

Seems pretty reasonable to me, id look at it more like "please keep the machines running so company is making money, im not to worried about what you do when they are running" most bosses look down on people who dont always "look busy" and disregard the work the worker was doing. I can look busy and not actually do much.

Sounds like you need a robot to machine ,must be lonely working there.
