I bet his hygiene is horrible, and I'm guessing this is the lever that gets pushed aside to enhance his goals 😂 Hey Messy, do a vid on your testosterone levels, is it true that runners have low testosterone, and would you be willing to show your bio markers for T?
Those really long events generally don't get much attention like that french guy who crossed every continent except the arctic within a year. 80k/day on average. 8liters of water/day. Or the transeurope run. People are too fast-living for that🤷♂️
@@marks-0-0---- I agree most people don't challenge themselves, but this is so outrageous it borders on a mental illness. I've done more challenges in my 68 years than anyone I know, but somehow I find this more disturbing than celebratory. This man will have lasting injuries from this feat, and it will certainly not add quality years to his life. I wouldn't recommend this type of personal physical abuse on my worst enemy, if I'm being honest!
"I just have to chase something, and it has to be difficult. ...there's got to be an element of uncertainty on the outcome. If there's stuff that I know that I can do, I don't know, it doesn't get me out of bed." Hell yeah! 💪
Did The London Marathon this year. I couldn't imagine doing a virtual marathon without the crowds and motivational support that you get from the real thing. Its such a mental challenge doing it with only yourself to get you through but ground hog day for 102 days, thats straight jacket mental.
He needs a psychologist that isn't afraid to give him the cold hard truth! His demons will still be there, even if he completes this exercise of self abuse!
@@robertmuckle2985Haha not everyone that does things you don't like and that are physically demanding is mentally ill buddy. Of course he knows this will take a toll on his body, but it's his body, it's not yours.
Speechless. The farthest I’ve run in one go is about 22 miles. I just can’t wrap my mind around it. I was watching a video about ultra runner Courtney Dauwalter, and she apparently hallucinates regularly during races. I’m sure Sean has had this experience and then some. It’s definitely an unearthly physical feat, but the mental strength is even more awe inspiring I think. I’d love to hear more about how he is able to push through the pain. That being said, you guys also blow my mind with all that you’ve accomplished. I’d love to hear your guy’s take on the pain cave as well.
Even I cant, the furthest I ever ran in one go was 102 miles in 15 hours 50 mins around the lake district (during Covid) but this is absolutely on a different planet, there is a degree of fitness you can achieve when it becomes mind over matter, BUT once wear and tear sets in there is no pushing through that without causing serious harm, I am very interested to understand how he can stay injury free for such huge lengths of time with so little recovery in between, and he doesnt look like a young chap (As in a 20 something). this is truly insane, amazing what the human body can do
Absolutely insane. The stats that you showed were just mind blowing. I cant comprehend resources and determination needed to make this happen everyday 😮👏👏👏
That’s the thing about a good challenge.. not knowing if you’re going to be able to finish it. When you adopt that mindset you just go and work on it and if you fail you find out where your limits are. Win win.
I’ve been following him on Strava and it’s unbelievable. Some of the weather recently, a marathon is bad enough in that heat let alone with the swim and cycle.
Jeez Louise. I'm following 'Hardest Geezer' Russ Cook trying to be the first man to run the length of Africa... he's doing just over a marathon every day... but this is levels above 🤯
Göran Winblad just posted a video basically stating, setting a goal that you KNOW you can do isn't motivating. It's very similar to the answer Sean gave to your "why". Good advice from both gentlemen.
Amazing to watch! Very inspirational! A few questions that I wasn't sure if I missed in the video: 1. Are the bike rides done indoors? 2. How often does Sean eat? 3. What monitoring of his vitals is done to make sure he is healthy enough to continue?
@@davidcod6024 okay, if he spent 20 of 24 hours everyday for 102 days doing an ironman triatholon, it would be incredibly impressive!! Only sleeping for 4 hours a day for 102 days by itself would be impressive. Of course it does not take that long, but I am sure it takes many hours a day. It's not about the speed, but the endurance. Think about the overall distance covered. Over 2600 miles run in a hundred days!! Now add many miles swum and over 14,000 miles biked!!!
this is magnificant, HOWEVER, as an ex trail runner and ex long distance runner who had to retire at only 41, I can say for certainty, that sort of over use on your joints, especially the knees will literally take decades of their life span, I wish you the absolute best though as this is mind boggling
When I watched his 1st documentary on running the length of the UK, I decided to take up running and my goal was to run from Catterick garrison to Scarborough southbay 67 miles and I did it in 15 hours
Absolutely incredible!!! & what an amazing experience for you guys!! Im looking forward to sharing some Kms with Pat Farmer who is currently running around Australia right now-I can’t wait!!
It must be so hard to keep going. But the way I see it, is like someone working a super physical job(many people do especially nowadays in less fortunate countries), day in day out sometimes for years. The only difference is most of the time they don't have the choice to stop. But nevertheless it is absolutely mind blowing, well done !
Just so people get it, what Sean is doing is equivalent to swimming the english channel 10.5 times, then riding 6 times across Australia, then running across the USA.......WOW,WOW,WOW.
Just amazing what people can do a guy near where I live Garry McKee done a marathon every day for a year 365 marathons and still worked as well he was in all newspapers and TV I did 5 with him not 5 consecutive 😂😂 it's amazing what people can do
Inspiring. Bonus : I laughed really loud from the 5:06 mark as I imagined he was riding his bike on some railroad tracks. I know he wasn’t, of course, but I was so entertained just to imagine he was.
Also, why stop at 102? I mean it's not going to get you a nickname like Iron Cowboy. Rather if you're going to put 102 days into such a venture, beat it big. Maybe an even number like 111. Eleventy-one. Maybe then he can get a nickname like the Bilbo Tri-gins.
Im guessing that time for stretching is absent for these long distance runners? I see stretching emphasized in most running videos but none exist for ultra runners. It would be educational to know why. I only run 5 miles a day and I need to work on my hard calves and knee exercises. My concern is injuries so stretching is a must. Maybe in all the years of running the conditioning is already there to avoid stretching altogether.
If you are looking for a healthy running form, I guess this guy nailed it.❤ (I used to run 3h/day for 3month and it already felt like I had no time left during the day AND I cheated sometimes)😳
