i really don’t understand what they’ve done with edwina’s character.. kate spent the WHOLE season saying that anthony could never give her the love she deservers, and even anthony himself said that he couldn’t. and she accepted that. and then out of NOWHERE she is like “omg does he love me??” NO GIRL, HE DOESNT

Why is almost every reactor so surprised and so pissed at Anthony when he is telling Edwina why he wishes to marry her? He was very vocal and honest about his intentions from the very beginning at the poetry reading. The show has not once indicated that Anthony was in fact dishonest with Edwina or lied to her when it comes to the reasons behind the wedding/marriage. Like the biggest compliment he ever gave to Edwina was that she is/talks so AGREEABLY - like really? How does that translate to love? I am sorry but the more I am rewatching the season the more annoying Edwina is becoming.

When Kate and Anthony finally have sex during Episode 7, Anthony tells Kate that he will stop if she wants, and this wasn't scripted. Jonathan Bailey explained the moment, saying, "It wasn’t scripted, [the line where] Anthony is saying to her, 'I will stop, I will stop.' And that’s something that we put in the sex scene, because I think it's really important that he is respectful and is understanding of the female, and there's never going to be a moment where that isn't the most important narrative point."

honestly i was happy about the kiss bc as annoying as kate and anthony were being about acting on their feelings.. that's just how they were brought up by being the older sibling, theyre constantly worrying about their sibling(s) instead of themselves. I was more annoyed at edwina's "what i deserve" speech like anthony & kate didn't both tell her multiple times their marriage wouldn't involve love, like edwina didn't tell kate she didn't care about him not loving her as long as he provided for her.... it felt like they lost the plot with her reaction. it wasn't a girl boss moment it was like u chose not to listen and this was the result LOL

Kate and Anthony never acted upon their feelings till Edwina and Anthony broke off. Also, both Kate and Anthony said that Anthony is not marrying for love. Kate warned Edwina so many times that Anthony won't give her love she seeks for. It was Edwina who never listened to her, went against her In fact, at point Edwina was stubborn when Anthony didn't propose in ep 3 that it is Viscount that I want Kate. She wanted Viscountess Life, the luxury, never loved Anthony either. In book, Edwina saw through Anthony and Kate & realized they had feelings. Edwina was naive but never dumb. This Edwina is dumb & kind of selfish. So, no I disliked that they didn't tell Edwina but I hated more that Edwina was stubborn to a point that she pushed Kate & even begged her that she wants Anthony, help her in getting him and funny, when Anthony proposed her, the 1st thing she said I would love to be your viscountess instead of I would love to marry you. Again in 5th episode she said she loved Anthony when it was clear she was love with an idea of being a viscountess. So, no Edwina not some selfless or angel. She was stubborn, was so selfish that neither Mary or Edwina saw how much work Kate was putting to give them decent life after Mr. Sharma died. Why should only Kate think about her family, why can't they put an effort to see what she wants? It was like both Kate and Anthony were given set of responsibilities and had no time to grief their parents while all were allowed to cry in their sorrows. Two people - One who thinks she has to earn love and another who thinks his family hates him. Why do anyone think it will be easy for them to choose themselves? They have been choosing others over themselves and it is sad their family especially Kate's family never saw it

Edwina is flawed just like Kate and Anthony lol you guys are missing so much nuance! I understand your emotions tho it’s ALOT

in the show it showed that kate uses lily soap... anthony loves the scent of lilies that's why he loves her scent

Anthony shouldn’t have proposed to edwina, but we all get why in his messed up head he did. He was afraid of love. It’s terrible edwina got caught up in it, but she was told multiple times that he wasn’t marrying for love and couldn’t give her what she deserved. It’s why Kate initially told her not to see him. Even he said he wasn’t in it for poetry and gestures, but would bring stability. She knew that and kept saying she wanted the life of being his viscountess. Kate didn’t do anything with him and did all she could to bring about what her sister wanted once she said she loved him. She was willing to break her own heart for her sister to get what she wanted. It wasn’t well handled and never should’ve got to the altar but Kate isn’t the cruel one many seem to say and Anthony never pretended he loved edwina. If love was what she wanted, she shouldn’t have gone for a person who had sworn off it. I also loved how they finally gave into what they both wanted when it seemed they were screwed anyway. Anthony stormed off outside on hearing Eloise’s scandal and Kate after her sister, who she’d tried to put first, basically called her a cow. At that point it made sense they both thought, screw it.

Edwina I am not gonna lie I have a love hate relationship with because I feel like she put all the blame on Kate when she was at fault to never taking into consideration to really understand Kate’s perspective or what she has done for her and she may not have asked for it but Kate had no choice but to take upon the families responsibilities but she never had time to grieve after her father died but when Mary should have been her support she failed to and wasn’t her support system when she needed her the most. Kate always suppressed her feelings because she herself wasn’t sure of them and then on top of that she doesn’t think she matters so telling her feelings would be irrelevant as in her eyes it’s all about Edwina and she has always been over looked her whole life which is why she has felt she has to earn love even her own mother even though she doesn’t no one ever told her. I just feel like Edwina had ever right to feel betrayed but I feel like her character development was to quick and not smoothly transitioned which made her seem petty. It take a lot for me to hate Kate and Anthony because I understand their characters so much and the layers and depths to them which at times can be aggravating but I want the best for them so much and the fact they think the don’t deserve love ❤️ is so heartbreaking to me because they deserve love just as much as anyone else.

Kate sure has some crappy power since she told Edwina in episode 2 "Did you hear that, Bon? He cannot give you the love you deserve." and in this one Edwina says "You cannot provide me with what it is that I want. What it is that I deserve." Bad 'girlboss' writing on the Bridgerton team, made me laugh!

I don't think people should compare it to the books because they just use the book as a "reference". If u watch it with an open mind you will definitely enjoy it a bit more. I honestly didn't care about Featherington's storyline but I understand why they would add that because Penelope and Colin's story is next. Honestly, you will like the show more if you binge all 8 episodes so you stay connected to what's happening but that's just my opinion. When it comes to Kate and Anthony it's all about their struggles and learning to put their feelings first so I get the push and pull journey and the end kinda makes up for it and there is more to come in the next seasons "according to the interviews". I wish there were more scenes but that's for the future seasons I guess. I kinda liked Edwina but she also annoyed me so much because Kate always put her first and she was just plain "mean" in some scenes. This season is so much better when it comes to chemistry and the dialogues! :)

I honestly don´t understand why Edwina acts as though Kate cheated her in some way. Kate was ready to give up Anthony to make her sister happy, to never see him again in order for Edwina to live the life she always dreamed about. Kate didn´t tell Edwina about her feelings because she saw no point in doing so. However, Anthony should not have proposed and he should have left Edwina alone. I don´t like this man.

Edwina had a full episode 6 which was far too long and dull and Kate and Anthony should have been spending more time together. Kate ever got an episode. We know very little about her struggles looking after Edwina and her mother. Not happy with episode six. Great love scene though. Nice undies

SOOO fun fact… while I absolutely love all of the bridgerton tv shows that have come out, and I know this tends to be people’s fav over season 1…… I love it all for different reasons. As a book reader I will say, I appreciate that season 1 was done more closely to the book in terms of plot. This season, while I do love watching, and I agree this messy wedding sister love triangle created for great tv entertainment, in the books it’s widely different. Anthony does start perusing Edwina at first since she’s the diamond and he isn’t in it for love, however before it even gets very far the stuff with him and Kate come to bloom. In the books, the bee scene where he freaks out over her safety, he does actually end up trying to suck the “venom” from her breast and is in a crazy state bc he legit thinks she’s going to die. Lady bridgerton, lady featherington, and someone else probs Danbury in the books actually CATCH them in this moment and that’s when it’s decided that they will get married since Anthony is honorable and that’s important to him. I kinda hate in the show how they made them get to the actual wedding and turn it into a sister v sister sitch though I get that it makes for good views. Also, as far as why he’s so freaked out about the bee and also marrying for love; in the book he talks SO highly about his father. To him his father was basically a god, so he is genuinely thinking constantly since the death that since his father died at (roughly) 38 years old, and he OBVIOUSLY isn’t as near as a man as what his father was, there’s obviously no way he could grow older than the age his father died. He has a lot of anxiety and paranoia in the book and he basically lives every day “knowing” he’s gonna die in the next ten years since he clearly can’t outlive his father like that. It’s super sad but actually makes his and Kate’s love so much more rich I think and I’m more mad they omitted important details like that than the fact that they dramatized other points more

You two are really funny. I've enjoyed all the reactions. The showrunner/writers obviously wanted to dial up the drama and angst for this season and milk all the tension for its worth. I guess they thought they needed more melodrama to compensate for the lack of sex scenes compared to S1? Who knows. They should've wrapped up the almost wedding one episode earlier and let the characters AND the audience breathe and process. It would've helped to clarify some of the characters' motivations and show their growth more, but they wanted DRAMA. Honestly though? The chemistry between the romantic leads was so great that I just stopped caring about all the flaws in the writing by the end of it LOL

i think the reason i get so annoyed with these kind of plots is that they make it seem as if attraction just throws out self control. it makes me feel like they just wanna have sex and don’t actually have anything beyond that. which is so stupid. it is a CHOICE to be acting the way kate and anthony did.

You guys are the best! 100% remind me of me and my friends watching shows and movies. I think the best part about this season is all the characters having both flaws and redeeming characteristics...being messy, like REAL people (and not abusing people like in season 1), that is probably also the most frustrating part, it feels like real life when nothing is going right and bad decisions are being made. The spiral is too relatable. The character development is also great to see, nobody ended the same as they were, everyone evolved for better, and for worse. Not wanting to say to much since this is still not an episode 8 reaction, if this storyline were taking place TODAY I would agree more with Demon Trash about Kate and Antony not following their hearts early on. The thing is, while it is a modern take on the Regency era, it still IS the regency era. Women were literally 'chattel' in the UK until about 1870 (and Bridgerton is more around 1813). It means Kate as the daughter of a disgraced female and a poor man had NOTHING, and Mary would also have NOTHING, and the only hope for them not to end up in servitude would have been Edwina securing money. If Kate knew right away she loved Antony, she could have suggested Edwina go for other men with titles and money, but I truly think even at the wedding during the heart to heart she was STILL denying to herself that the passion she felt was love and not hate, she was telling herself it was hate for so long because she truly didn't see a way for them to be together. Antony I honestly think wasn't sure that Kate actually LOVED him rather than just having real hatred or passion for him and didn't WANT love in his life to cause suffering like his mother and father anyway. Maybe those storylines weren't developed enough to be obvious. It's just hard to hear such strong judgement on all the choices when viewed through the Regency lens rather than our modern one. Women were property and raised as such. I'm grateful to not have lived in that time, where my own money would never be mine it would be a father, a brother, or a husbands. There was more at stake than just following emotions or love. I thought the show illustrated it quite well. Love how complicated this season was. It didn't feel as superficial as last season to me. I love ALL the reactions (and definitely understand the frustration and hatred) no matter what! Thank you for all the great entertainment!!! Think whatever you want I say! That is what keeps this world interesting :)

To take it all the way to the wedding altar was a choice, one that I wish they hadn't chosen tbh. I think Edwina being an "obstacle" for 5 eps and the 3 remainder being about Kate & Anthony's overcoming their own issues would've been the way I would've gone. Will be interesting to see everyone else's thoughts cause I feel this is where the mixed feelings/reviews come into with this season. Discovered you two due to Bridgerton but have since worked through your previous reactions and really enjoyed them too. Looking forward to listening in on your podcasts too.

Feel like you two missed a LOT of details from this show and its characters. Anthony and Kate are the eldest children from their families. They both endured numerous hardships and sacrifices and had to learn at a very young age what it meant to run a family, to act as a parental figure to their siblings, and to do everything correctly so that their family wouldn't need to pay the price of their mistakes. At a young age they were both forced to put aside their feelings and desires for the sake of what's best for their siblings. They didn't have the luxury exploring what it is they'd truly want out of life. So to expect either of them to simply be okay with admitting that they had feelings for each other is extremely silly. Especially with they're very stubborn personalities and how infatuated Edwina was with the idea of becoming Anthony's Viscountess. Kate made it clear to Edwina numerous times that Anthony would only wed her out of necessity and convenience, because she fit all of his boxes, not out of true love. Edwina knew this, yet she still insisted on ignoring her sisters warnings and continued pursuing him because she, too, was only really thinking about the convenience of it all. No way she would give up a man of this title and power when she knows what her life could be like at the end of it all. Of the luxurious lifestyle she would live despite him might never being able to look at her the way she wants. She knows her options could be worse so why would she be honest with herself and with him and admit that she doesn't really have feelings for him? Especially when he's so insistent on doing everything by the books, by what he's learned, that marriage is a pact for convenience and necessity, not for true love. It wasn't until the wedding date came around that she became quite hopeful that he would one day fall in love with her as well. So, while they should have absolutely told her the truth when they were certain that their feelings were real, she isn't exactly pitch-perfect either. One thing Bridgerton does well is showing that NO character is perfect but EVERY character is flawed in some way. Was it messy and long? Of course, but honestly what did you expect? That Kate and Anthony would just know that they have real feelings for each other, that its okay to fall in love and do something for themselves for once in their life, they'd confess to each other, announce their feelings to the public, and no one would care and that would be the end of it? There's no build up in an a story like that and quite frankly it isn't realistic given the context and circumstances.

Totally had the same reaction as you guys, I just couldn’t enjoy Kate and Anthony’s love story because they kept making so many awful choices. The part where Anthony is sniffing Kate’s odor had me feeling so uncomfy!!! Lol. I don’t think they were able to replicate the P&P moment where Darcy touches Elizabeth’s hand. Now that is a moment.
