I use lemon water and vinegar to mop and dust with. I steep the lemon peels in hot water (tea) in a mason jar and put it in the refrigerator when cool. When I am ready to mop I put water in a bucket and pour some of the lemon "tea" and some vinegar in. Only a couple tablespoons of each. Cleans great, smells nice and keeps ants and bugs out.

Stacey I bought a glass bottle that had a foaming device made in the bottle....fill it one fourth with Castile and the rest with water. Just make sure you don't fill too full and cover the foaming device. Add any essential oil if you like. Makes a lovely foaming hand soap. I love it!!😀.

Simple seeker I don't know about a glass bottle but I went to the grocery store and bought antibacterial hand soap. It comes in a plastic bottle with a foaming device. It works great! We use 2 foaming dispensers in the bathroom. One at the sink for washing hands and faces Etc and another one in the bathtub for a showers and baths.

Ok. So I'm fairly new to your channel, but the few I've watched where both of you are on together I get a bit defensive for Stacy! I know that Stacy is a strong and capable woman, fully able to stand up for herself, but Doug, you over-talk her! You insult her! You belittle her, always in the guise of humor. Now, I'm not a woman's libber! HONEST! It just tweaks me I guess. You two are such awesome people, but it simply goes sideways sometimes. I love seeing truly Christian couples that uplift, appreciate, and respect each other! It fills me with such joy! Then again, maybe I just need to watch more videos to get a better 'feel' for how you two communicate. I'm hoping so, because I love the beautiful and kind ways that true Christians treat each other! So if I'm wrong...my apologies! I love the information that you two share and the great ideas that I've gotten from your channel! God bless you both!

SInce finding your channel I've been slowly changing my habits for the better. I'm finally ditching the household cleaners, especially the bathroom and kitchen ones!! I plan to switch all hand soaps next and need to get essential oils. Thank you :)

Wow. He does all the work? Since I have discovered your channel I have been delving into some of your older stuff. It is commendable how you have grown as homesteaders over the years. I hope Doug has apologized for his chauvinistic attitude he displayed in this video. I’m not a women's- libber but I was offended when he suggested she didn’t help. I even watched it twice to look at her reaction. That was years ago and I see the growth & confidence in Stacy as she does her videos. I hope you give her all the credit she deserves as you proceed on this journey together.

for my laundry I do one cup of plain white vinegar. and only a 1/4 cup of soap. What I like is the vinegar kills the bacteria and kills any smells. The other nice thing is because I use so little soap, the clothing always comes out NOT scratchy.. It actually rinses out. If you sun dry or just use a drier (no need for a drier sheet and those chemicals) your clothing it is still soft to the touch and sweet smelling.

Another great video! Eucalyptus oil is awesome. I have used it for 25 years. My son was allergic to dust, so I soaked laundry with a few drops in. Kills dust mites. Also it is good to breath in. I got laryngitis once and lost my voice. When I would breath in over the eucalyptus bottle, I could speak a few words, lol. Also I put salt in my laundry. Softens and cleans. Vinegar is conditioner for my hair, fabric softener in laundry. Too bad people think only harsh, commercial chemicals work.

Hi! One of the best things I found to clean windows was super fine steel wool. Wipe window off with a clean cloth, or if dusty, I use clear water. Wipe dry, then use the steel wool to basically polish the window. It will take off any smudges or marks without leaving any streaks. I don't know if this fits in with your off the grid lifestyle, but just wanted to add my 2 cents in! I'm really enjoying your videos.

Thank you for all of this great washing info. I have always loved Dr. Bronners Castile soap (used to sell it) but I have not used it for a long time. After watching this vid I will be going back to it to use it for everything! Also I wanted to mention that I have created a great washing hygene spray to use for the time in between my showers (I discovered that I did not need to shower everyday and still stay clean and fresh when I lived in a trailer without running water). I now shower only 2 times a week. I feel much better but really have to get a shower water filter. Here is my recipe for the sponge bath body freshener spray: in a small 6 or 8 oz spray bottle (I am like you Stacy, don't measure - just use common sense;) I mix about 2 oz of alcohol, 1 oz of olive oil, 4 oz of purified water, 5 drops of tea tree oil (I use Melaleuca from my own on-line store - which I get free products, and paid from) , shake well (it will look milky), then I spray it on and use it to wash after I first wash with a little soap. With a basin full of warm water, I rinse the soap and the spray off well. I am all clean and fresh! Cheap to make and use too! You can also use the mixture on the paper towels to create the hygenic wipes too! Thank you so much for all you teach. God bless!

With a little jojoba oil and lavender essential oil. I don't really know if that compliments each other, but it's what I had. So relaxing, and it also leaves your feet so soft. I have a liquid recipe that I just made for the first time with Borax and Washing soda, but it called for any shredded bar of soap. I used Ivory just because I had it on hand. I think next time I'll try the Fels-Naptha! But it will have to wait 2 years until I run out of the supply I just made!! lol :) Also...I'm wondering if I could add in eucalyptus now that it's already been made or if its best to do that right after the cooking process...hmm.

Marcy Maher fels Napa is great, I also keep a full bar on a shelf above my washer, I use it to scrub my hubby's ring around the collar and as a soaking/pre washing soap, it also has a lovely smell fresh and clean. Only draw back its kind of hard on your hands, so I use gloves when I scrub out stains or ring around the collar.

We moved to our property almost 10yrs ago now and I taught myself how to make lye soap. How do you feel about lye soap? I love it and it keeps my hands from drying out when I wash them so much throughout the day.

I like to use water and baking soda to wash my fruit and vegetables but I think I will use the vinegar in the water and see if that works just as well

This is what we are working toward getting our own place. I will try the oils in my laundry soap next time I make some.

I can't be sure but that looks like a plastic toothbrush. Bamboo toothbrushes are a great, compostable alternative ❤

I also use orange vinegar for an all purpose cleaner. Daughter and hubby doesn't like the vinegar smells...lol I'll have to get some of this as well.

Hi, excellent product for sure and the essentials oils a plus. I actually make a mix ( like your dish soap ) add a blend of EO to my liking and I use it as shaving cream for my legs. Put in a Foam pump bottle. It’s works great

Hi Doug and Stacy! We love all your videos. Thank you so much, we've learned so much from you--which is invaluable since we will be living the dream by the end of the week, when we close on our new property. We are naming it LOMAH Homestead (Land of Milk and Honey). This video was awesome and we will definitely be trying Castille soap (although we did buy a bag of Soap Berries to try--have you ever tried them or know anything about them?) Thanks again, you guys are a true Blessing from God (Yahweh)! Shalom, shalom.

***** We feel like we have left Egypt, like you two did, and the feeling is awesome!!! We were able to walk the property the other day by ourselves, and it is so breathtaking! The potential we have here is just an affirmation of how good Yahweh is!

We've been making our own laundry soap for a few years now. I never added Eucalyptus oil to it. Thank you for that tip.
