Make sure you adjust your levers to fit you for emergency situations. I made a video on this, right here 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nrorjr6tMSU.html

good vid. but personally, I only cover the brakes when I close the throttle. Always having a finger or two on the front brake makes my grip worse, especially when cornering.

How long have you been riding yourself? I wonder how hard you grip the throttle and handlebar? I only grip mine with my pinky and ring finger, really. I'm not saying you're wrong at all, if it works for you. But gripping quite hard and being stiff on the bars can upset the handling greatly and make it more work to handle the bike. Have you tried gripping the bike more with your legs? You should be able to ride pretty damn hard without having to grip the bars that much. A bit like holding a screwdriver 🪛! Anyhow, I'm not lecturing, I'm just curious as I used to grip the bars a little too hard back in the day!

@@thethrottletube I have been riding for about 4 years, which I know, isn't a lot. I grip the bars as light as possible and hold onto the bike using my legs on the tank alongside my foot on the pegs. When I'm also half to full throttle, my fingers can't reach the brake levers anymore, so I don't cover. Since I start covering when I release the throttle, I find no difference between covering and not covering all the time, since I instinctively reach for those brakes when I release the throttle. Of course, we're all different and some things may work better for you than another, but personally, this is what I've found to work the best and in times of emergency braking, I find it to be the same. I also started out with having at least one finger on both the front lever and the clutch, but when I started not covering all the time and forcing at least a finger on the levers, I have an easier time holding onto the bars lightly, especially on clip-ons or handlebars that have an aggressive sweep. I think covering the brakes is still good advice, just not a thing that I like to do anymore personally.

@keyzeyy1958 very valid points to be fair. Have you seen the vid I recently done about adjusting your levers so you can always reach them from every angle? It's crazy how comfortable the bike becomes once you adjust them! Keep rubber side down, and Ride safe my friend 😎🤘!!!

I covered the brake for the forst 2yrs i rode. I dont anymore. It was way too common for me to grab the brake without fully letting off the throttle. I cover the clutch. I dont cover the brake anymore unless the aituation dictates.

Covering the brakes is a big NoNo. If you do that during your final test you will fail your test. At least where I live

That's wild that you can fail for being in a superior reaction situation . That seems like a very micro managing rule. What country is this in may I ask?

@@thethrottletube it is not a superior reaction situation. Controlling your handlebar and scanning ahead are way more important than covering the brakes which means you have less control over your handlebars. Also braking with one or two fingers is not taught, you use all 4 fingers where you start with the index finger applying pressure and the more fingers apply pressure the faster you brake. Similar to playing a piano. Braking with not all fingers will leave fingers between the brake handle and the handlebar. Several people has lost their fingers that way going down or hitting an immovable object.

@dutchdryfly I'll have to leave it at an agree to disagree on this one here. Of course both are very subjective on the whole. However I can fully apply pressure with one/two fingers on my bike and leave the remainder to hold the handlebar. I've seen a few whiskey throttle situations happen by using all 4 fingers. Either way, at the end of the day, whatever works for you or I, works for you or I. Keep safe on the road my friend, we're all bikers at the end of the day 🤝!
