I agree with you, to me, it sounds like an intro and then a medley teaser highlights. Listened several times now and it's not grown on me. They sound and look great, but was also disappointed that the MV didn't really further the culture universe video they presently released. This one didn't work for me, but they are talented and hopefully, the next one will.
i think it's my first time seeing ja reacting to a song that he didn't like on his first listen. he's so honest tho, same to me i think the song will grow on me but there are parts that i really like. aespa are queens tho, sm needs to step up.
I really love the first part of the song but I got disconnected towards the middle to end. And based on what I have heard and seen, a lot of people feel the same way. I love aespa so much, and patiently waited for their comeback. However, this doesn't give me the same hype as Black mamba, which was the best song of 2020 for me. SM should have invested more on the song itself because the visuals are already great.
I've been watching your reactions and I know that you are a YG stan. This comeback is an SM Ent. signature. They always do this with SM groups. Weird songs, too many genre change lol. I know that some will love it and some will not and that's valid. Thanks for the reaction tho. 💙
The chorus sounds familiar because they buy it from the original singer A$ton Wyld - Next level (fast and furious) they just recycled it. In short it's an amazing remake🔥
Yeah but the transitions are so smooth that you just keep jamming to it. I GOT A BOY is the perfect example, but on this they should keep the two songs separated, next level is a good song and the beat drop is an amazing song, they should have produced that song alone not mixed it with next level or at least make a smoother transition, like Zimzalamim /ex:
@@sonnet890 like why would they do that to there girl idols?!?! It's her solo. Give her her own song that represents her and not a cover/remake if someone else. Sometimes I wonder what goes through sm's minds😖😫
@@blink3594 I think it can be three scenarios, either they give us one comeback a year and make aespa live like blackpink ( hope not ) , or according to who commented this comment make aespa only comeback with full album and make aespa live like f(x) ( hope not as well ) , or they make them have regular twice a year comebacks with an original single or a mini album or full album.
Okayyyy....SM NEVER want to follow the trend, Period! At every comeback, SM artists come with something that I NEVER heard before. I love it except the snake.
there is a difference in following a trend and creating a trend. you can still set trends and sound amazing. this just sounds like they tried something but didnt even know themselves what they are trying. soundproduction wise its totally messy.
The chorus sounds familiar because they buy it from the original singer A$ton Wyld - Next level (fast and furious) they just recycled it. In short it's an amazing remake🔥
i like that you're being honest i feel like it's not a kind of song you hear a lot, so it might take a lot of time to get used to it keep us updated if it grows on you
@@okaylol5608 not at all lmao but you can't judge a song on the first listen. The first listen doesn't reflect your actual opinion on the song , especially with songs like that, because it's so different
the transition of song and the beat it's very sm type of song, if you are sm stan you will know and you will like it, but if not, then you will not understand why they do that, sorry for my bad english tho
YEAH AND THEY'RE CLEARLY NEW TO KPOP AND HAVEN'T EXPLORED MORE SO THEY FIND THESE SONG CONFUSING AT FIRST! THIS SONG DEFINITELY REMIND ME OF GG's IGAB!
When you heard this first time you got confused but, if you listen again and again you will love this song and that's why this song so popular until now.
I’m not an SM stan, but reading comments from SM stans and remembering GG’s IGAB, I kinda understand where they are coming from with the many switchups. As a YG stan, Blackpink and Treasure do have songs with switchups, so this wasn’t as jarring for me as others have experienced. A big fan of the RNB switchup from Ningning.
I like the switchup in songs (for example in treasure i love you or zimzalabim) but in next level the switchups felt a bit abrupt for me... i took me a lot of time to start liking that song
It's not that bad. The visuals amazing!! And mv with no budget!! The middle confused me a bit. It has to grow on me though. Edit: felt like I was listening to nct...
Sm really setted them up like why would you even give them a song that was already out. Black mamba and the other single was very good but this one is just very weird like ik damn well those girls don't like this song😭. Also supposedly the song gives you this sound that it's multiple songs in one because it's because their album coming
Finally someone who’s honest. I thought I was the only one that thought this. I enjoy a good change in the flow of songs but that’s not how you do it at all. I can tell they’re good singers too ugh this could’ve been so good.
I really appreciated your honest opinion!! TT tbh I expected so much from black mamba cause of the hype and I was really disappointed, but “enjoyed” the song after hearing it live so many times.. but I really loved next level :0 probably because I’m catching up with aespa’s seniors music (nct) and I got used to this kind of “concept” and song but I understand why so many people didn’t like it (it took me also three listens to really say wow it was an amazing first comeback) I also didn’t know it was a remake, thank you so much for the info ^///////^ btw I wasn’t a fan of sm’s sound, but again I understood it after hearing more from other sm groups so don’t worry if you didn’t like the song because I know I wouldn’t have liked it too 6 months ago :\ also I think this long hiatus brought way too much expectations, hope that sm isn’t trying the same blackpink marketing strategy 💔
Love that you are honest! and I have to agree with you on what you said. personally I was super confused with this song. idk it just not cutting it for me rn. Its just a grower for sure. but the visuals and vocals were insane without a doubt. so maybe eventually i will end up liking it.
Who in SM thought this song should be released?? I have never seen a group hype as much as them since Bp and they release something like this . I am not hating on the girls but it's the producer's fault. This girls have everything they got the visuals the charisma the vocals . Come on SM u are better than this..I hope thier next comeback becomes thier breakout song
@@kramkrammm thats very truee but it was still not put well together. Like if we look at NCT resonance it was wayy better put than this? They deserve better because black Mamba genuinely raised people’s expectations to their music
@@amultiwithopinions7325 yes i agree but I think SM is exploring this type of music we all know sm when it comes to musicality who knows in the future this is the music trends
I agree with you, the song completely changes. I don't really like these kinds of songs, but it's fine, until that change. Both parts are okay separately but in the same song it completely ruins it
I do agree with you ja... I think The song probably will grow on me... For the first time i hear it's like whaat??? Am i hearing two songs? Will be hearing on and on & will be deciding at the end. 🤷♂🤷♀
I love your honest opinion of the video. I had to watch this a few more times for it to grow on me as well. However an original song, instead of another cover and remix, would have been better. This is my opinion and will stand by it. The transition into and out of the middle just doesn't flow well. SM does a much better job than this. I truly want this group to succeed, they don't deserve any set backs this early.
this is sm thing I guess you didn't hear any sm songs like I got A Boy by Girls Generation but I promise it will grown on you. I love a Bohemian Rhapsody type of song
The beat transition wasn't awkward to me because one of my favorite songs in kpop is "I GOT A BOY" by Girls' Generation, and that song is like three songs in one. But, I got it why you didn't like it. What matters is to stay true to yourself. We want real reactions.
Hi Ja, i don't know if you will be able to read my comment but I hope you can react to Seventeen. I'm sure they will amaze you in different ways. Thank you so much 🥰
Don’t force yourself to like it by listening to it over and over. If you didn’t like it that’s fine, it’s just not for you. I hate that people are telling you to listen to it more and “it’ll grow on you”.. like you’re literally conditioning yourself to like a song you naturally didn’t like and that’s so weird that people actually do this. It’s basically manipulating your own brain to get used to something bizarre.. idk but thats not how I want to function in society.. just do you
thank you so much for this comment. as an update, i've heard this song so many times now that i've gotten accustom to it and it's starting to sound better. though, my points that i made still stand.
Me also im upset with the transition I thought it was a build up, they're are going to slay us but the transition is not cool for me,don't hate me guys...the black mamba is still the best for me.....I like the girls they are very talented and gorgeous as always....SM and the Producers what happened?....again don't hate I'm a fan of this girls I love them😍
You are right on what you said first, they are targeting aespa as the next blackpink (I want to believe they mean the impact) but they are leaving the music behind bcs of the heavy concept, yes it's really nice but your main product is music and btw I haven't heard the original but I don't think it will grow on my like black mamba did
I totally feel you here.. first of all, the girls are super talented and sound good! the video has pretty images too. But the song/music production here is a MESS! there is 0 structure to the song and there is basically no real key element(catchy part) in this song. its just chaotic and not nice to listen to. as i said, this is no disrespect towards the girls, they did their best.. its just the sound production itself.
At first i didn't expect that switchup i still like it but it doesn't have that impact especially in my first listen tho after a few listen it grows in me. I think SM style really sounds like this, it reminds me of I Got A Boy of Girls Generation.
it’s not new to sm though. Girls Generation (SNSD) ‘s I got A boy also had these kind of construction to their songs. and i’m thinking that it might be a mash up or a trailer of their songs just like what sm did to nct Resonance 2020. The lyrics fitted with their concept too! this song just gave me futuristic vibe. i suggest you watch aespa’s Black Mamba Ep.1 to understand their concept more.
If you're not an SM stan way back when GG was still fresh then you're not gonna expect songs like this to hype you up from the start. But all in all your taste and affection towards a song is different from person to person.
Same reaction though... Don't hate me, I'm a fan of aespa's BLACK MAMBA. I have it on loop in my playlist. And I really like their visuals, especially Winter. But for this song, I was like... Why SM, why? Like give them an original song please. The vocal range of these girls are really great so I really hope that SM would produce an original song for aespa. BTW, thank you for keeping it real, Ja! Fingers crossed on aespa's real comeback! aespa fighting!
The chorus sounds familiar because they buy it from the original singer A$ton Wyld - Next level (fast and furious) they just recycled it. In short it's an amazing remake🔥 but this song is too old already
Guys... You should listen to I Got a Boy by SNSD. This is k-pop. I listen SM song since this age. It's totally amazing and the identity of k-pop... That's why SM is one of the big threee. The company has the definition of ALTERNATIVE.
I think you're new to SM Ent. Music productions. They like to be experimental. ChecK I Got A Boy and Zimzalabim both from SM. They always like to do new things and weird to some people specially other Ent. stans.
Only music wise people will love and understand the song (mostly SM stans). SM is not the same with other companies who stayed to their sound. SM is experimental and they do this for years. Next Level is an evolutionary song and that makes me look forward to aespa's songs in the future.
This is me to I got a boy, red light, tempo, and Zimzalabim: I don't like it minutes later: bopping my head as if it's my lahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhst Update: I love Next Level hahahahhaha
@@JADIAZ right?! just like when I first listened to Mafia in the morning...I was like "Meh...This isn't working for me" but since I loved Lia's bridge, I replayed it a lot of time and then, boom..it's in my playlist
I loveee New Level! But partly ig because I originally love the og song, I freaking love the switch yp part even more but I agree the transitions werent so clean tho. I wish they just released a full song with that switch up's style. All in all I love the song but SM is just so fishy and questionable lmao and Im not too fan of them just making remake songs for the girls too. The girls HARD CARRIED this tho, they slayed!!
Jay speaking facts and its relatable. We expect on this comeback for the reason we waited long . The MV WAS GREAT! Girls were amazing! It just kinda downgrade compared to BLACK MAMBA cause that song was a BOP! Love the reaction Jay! ❤️
Yeah I was a fan of the original and i was trying to get into this gg for sometime now since im really into group with storyline concepts. I was expecting a lot to reel me in this comeback cause black mamba was boss.I am also hoping for it to grow on me.
The chorus sounds familiar because they buy it from the original singer A$ton Wyld - Next level (fast and furious) they just recycled it. In short it's an amazing remake🔥
for you to understand, it's an SM TRADITION to make song with 2-4 songs and segments of a song in it. If you listen to GG i got a boy they really have the same vibes and igab is really popular in korea because it's so good even tho it feels like it's a whole album in one song, because that's the way SM ENTERTAINMENT produce songs :))
every company/label have their own vibe/sound... keep playing it and see if it vibes with you.. if not its just not your thing... nothing wrong with that
I really respect his honest opinion .. from what I've watched (reactions) i thought I'm the only one who didn't like the song ! They were like *fake hyping *! But my expectations were very high for aespa because they have the potential! The mv , choreography, VISUALS areee fire ! But the song sorry to say that it wasn't good ! And yeahh you're not supposed to like eveything be true and honest !
maybe the new parts should have been its own new song and just use "next level" as a sample. Maybe use 1 verse from it only. I think that would have been better.
Honestly, I like the song, but I didn't know the original before. But that's right, for the hype that was triggered, a pimped-up cover is a bit disappointing. I also like the beat drop, but I would have liked it better if they stayed with this style until the end and didn't switch back. And even better would have been a whole song in the style without being embedded in the song "Next Level".
