This Sorare 23/24 Season Update is HUGE! 

The whole free to play "bragging rights" model will be so important going forward. Sorare needs a way to get people engaged with the product that caters to current free to play users. Currently, it's almost all through the dream of winning big. Free to play modes can't realistically offer that. FPL leverages this brilliantly due to the community actually caring about beating each other. I think this only happens if content creators start caring (at least pretending to) about free to play modes and engaging users who are trying out the product before buying. I think it will bring in a vast amount more users if the free to play modes become engaging through our community interaction with them which in turn will deliver more people into the paid modes as most people with brains will not sink money into a platform they don't enjoy or don't know much about (especially when it has any relation to crypto)

Really hate the fitness XP, it's WAY too much of a bonus and maybe more importantly, it MASSIVELY favours whales as they'll earn many many more of them and can keep 10% bonuses over you much easier. Whales get their advantages already through having the best cards and being able to afford collections and being able to play against less competition for more expensive rewards, we don't need them having even more advantages over regular users. (Whales can be at any scarcity. if someone has a $15,000 limited gallery, they're probably a whale too)

In their example with the fitness bonuses going nowhere near zero makes you think if they'll apply a sliding scale of losing the bonus (lose more when it's higher and lose less when it's lower), so people can pay to have their cards in peak fitness but most of the time running them at 6-7% instead of 10% isn't that bad and brings some variance to the scores The thing with cap 240 now is its more skill based, however once all the bonuses come in it'll be cap 240 by name but with all the bonuses applied the players are really cap 290 - unless they decide to apply the bonus onto the L15 too, otherwise managers without any sort of bonuses get blown out of the water

In the example they gave for the Cap mode, they said it was based on a real team that hit threshold. I imagine they retrospectively added fitness scores based on how often those cards were played. My biggest worry for fitness is goalkeepers. If you have a GK that plays midweek, they will always play and it's harder to stockpile GK's vs other positions. Also, as much as they are honest about the revenue stream being a boost, microtransactions are a slippery slope. I worry there will be a multitude of microtransactions that will make it pay to win where certain teams will be OP because the person has "boosted" them beyond belief. The past 3-4 months I've really gotten into sorare despite starting for the first time in early 2022 (and naively wasting every deposit) . I want to trust them but I do worry that these changes might price people out. Finally, a quick calculation on the new Cap 240 mode. It would be possible to score below 240 and get threshold with the bonuses. For this example, I took the 20% captain as 4% per player just to show it would impact scoring. Fitness - 10% New Season - 5% XP - 5% Collection - 3% Captain - 4% (20% spread) A score of 237 would get threshold.

Great video but I have a massive issue with the following line 'There is some credit to how fitness works in real life and how fitness works in Sorare' (around 50:00) - As players fitness decreases in real life we are already impacted in Sorare: DNPs as players are injured/rested, reduced minutes, worse team and individual perfomances reducing S05 scores. Adding a new layer to that is poor imo.

10% fitness bonus is way too much of an advantage. I understand 5% collection bonus which you have to grind for. This will skewer the market in favour of those with endless cash

Well that’s a shame invested a little bit to attack the semi-pro comps next season was looking forward to it but with the fitness and collection stuff seems it’s just gunna very quickly turn into another one of those money grabbing schemes unless you’ve got endless spare cash to be competetive in loads of comps

Just doesn’t sound good to me. If you need to rotate the players in your collection for fitness purposes than your not playing your best players, so your scores will be lower. For example you have an Arsenal collection, if you have to play Rice or Havertz instead of Saka or Odegaard it’s not the same thing, not all the teams/collection are full of starting/good scoring players.

You hit the nail on the head nep with the boosts... It's hugely important that the boosts do not discourage the managers who are not willing to pay for them from playing the game... If they tilt into you are massively disadvantaged without the boosts, the game will suffer. Managers will leave if that happens in my opinion and new managers will be further deterred

But I have no interest in playing with an entire team stack, never was fun. The entire premise that you have feyenoord shitting on guys with 1/10th of the salary is bleak. I'm generally optimistic. Have my 1, 2% collection here and there, enough depth. But seems very wrong to not have any division with break from these bonuses! How many divs do we have?!

Great more gamification, this is my 4th crypto game. All went for “gamification” in simple terms they want candy crush were millions in come in no strategy pay to win and ppl spending $$$. 3 times before Iv watched the game i enjoy basically go to zero. It’s been fun but I’m out. I know how this plays out.
