hahaha I can't 😂 I just had to scroll down to the comments and ctrl f gertie to make sure I wasn't losing it with the name change... it's just kev losing it which is normal
@@thomasr1051 From the internet: "Chekhov's gun is a dramatic principle that suggests that details within a story or play will contribute to the overall narrative." Like, the writer will introduce a gun or other item/plot point in the story and you, the reader, are trying to see when and how it will be used, because it will be used. Otherwise why introduce it in the first place? So since we can't interact with the gun in the game *yet*, we'll wait and see how we can interact with it in the future.
I also believe the Simone/Simone's monster is a nag at the (again, literature oriented) meme of calling Frankenstein's monster Frankenstein. These nags make sense as the game is an homage to Lovecraft's works, who is a well known author (although was very misanthropic)
@@dusklunistheumbreon I neither know, nor care if any certain individual in a team doesn't align with my own personal morality or ethics. If he's that bad, let the law sort him out. If not, leave him to it.
@@FunkyFyreMunky so...are you actually then supporting laws against that level of youtube? Or are you just saying that so you can just pretend you're not directly funding the dev's statements?
Didn't see this noted in any other posts but here you go Kevin...Gertrude Ederle was a famous American Olympic swimmer, John Gilbert was a popular silent movie star and Juan Belmonte Garcia was a legendary Spanish bullfighter, who surprisingly did NOT die in the bullring.
@@Hundeputzmunter Actually, I'm a silent movie fan so I knew who John Gilbert was and I'd heard about Garcia's exploits in the bullring! I love the game's references to the past. In a way, it's anti-pop culture!
I watched the 2 year old west of loathing video the other day and then Kevin blessed me with 40 more minutes of stickman shenanigans and I can not be more at peace.
If Kevin liked this game, he’d probably enjoy playing the other two predecessors of this one. West of Loathing and Kingdom of Loathing. Whether you play them for your channel or on your own time, I’d highly recommend them. They’ll give you some of the best belly laughs.
As I was watching, I was struck by how similar it was to the humor and art style of Kingdom Of Loathing. It was at that point that I searched, and saw that it was, indeed, related. I played KOL like 15 years ago, and was addicted to it for a while. :-)
I shall rewatch this until it gets enough views to warrant a sequel! Ever since Kevin last did this game, I was hoping he would re-try it! The humor is on point for him, even if the gameplay isn't usually his thing (big walls of texts, grinding, needing to read through the dialogue to understand what to do next).
I normally don’t like watching people play video games but for some reason I find these videos so entertaining. Sometimes I don’t even watch, I just have the video playing while I do something else as if I’m listening to a podcast 😂
I think I played an older version of this game as a flash game on a website. I love how it constantly suggests the most rediculous ideas and makes it the storyline.
Gertrude Ederle was an American swimmer, John Gilbert an American actor, and Juan Belmonte García was a Spanish bullfighter. There were all genuine real-life celebrities in the first half of the 20th century.
Juan was a Spanish Bullfighter who died in 1962, Gertrude was the first woman to swim across the English Channel, and John was most likely the Actor/Director who died in 1936 and not the painter who died in 1897.
I used to play Kingdom of Loathing back in the day! Its so great to see they are still around making more stuff! Please play more of these games, they are great!
Funny enough there is a ghost story about Lydia Barnsley. Died in a car accident and her spirit waits on the side of the road trying to get a ride back home.
The second I realized this was a Loathing game and that there were others besides Kingdom of Loathing (our favorite game in high school) I instantly had to get this
The last time I played and finished this game I was heavily drinking. It’s the most intense/strong emotion provoking experience I’ve ever had that I don’t even remember.
Markiplier hasn't come back to this yet, so seeing Kevin play it? Hell yeah. Please make this a full series, even if it's just a few episodes and cut down a lot!
He also hasn't been playing it in detail as he did for West of Loathing. For West of Loathing he read the entirety of that Cave thingy and got all the Spitoons. But for Shadow Over Loathing, he skipped the entire part talking with Jessica, waving it off as incoherent and weird iirc
@@donutlovingwerewolf8837 Yeah, he's missed a lot of really hilarious stuff because of skipping large dialogue segments and whatnot. It's the core of the game, I'm not sure why he's doing that. Shadows Over is a direct improvement to West Of in my eyes, so I don't understand how he *couldn't* be enjoying it! Dunno. He seemed to be enjoying it on that stream.
I used to play kingdom of loathing all the time, and was very happy when west of loathing came out. Shadows of loathing is even better IMO and I love the little references to west of loathing.
I love Kevin and his thoughts. "Ah this isn't bad at all I got this." *1 fight later* "Oh no, I lost to a puff of dust and wind, how can I do this?" P.S Uncle Murray is Bill Murray come to claim his due.
Gertrude Caroline Ederle (October 23, 1906[1] - November 30, 2003) was an American competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and world record-holder in five events. On August 6, 1926, she became the first woman to swim across the English Channel.[2] Among other nicknames, the press sometimes called her "Queen of the Waves". John Gilbert (born John Cecil Pringle; July 10, 1897[1] - January 9, 1936) was an American actor, screenwriter and director. He rose to fame during the silent film era and became a popular leading man known as "The Great Lover". His breakthrough came in 1925 with his starring roles in The Merry Widow and The Big Parade. Juan Belmonte García (14 April 1892 - 8 April 1962) was a Spanish bullfighter. He fought in a record number of bull fights and was responsible for changing the art of bullfighting. He had minor deformities in his legs which forced him to design new techniques and styles of bullfighting.
Thank you for opening up to us as much as you feel comfortable with. It's appreciated 👍 Don't pressure yourself to immediately have to do everything, most people that get the diagnosis first have to settle a bit with it, so only do things if you think they could help and you need them, at your own pace (I mean the concept of every psychological diagnosis and the treatment of it is always dependent on how it impairs your life und lowers your life quality, so that should be your deciding factor regarding any treatment ^^).
"not how a normal person would use their brain, but that's how I use my brain, just avoid every ounce of work and take the path of least resistance" Kevin.. this is how all brains work
As soon as I saw the currency was meat, I knew this was another game from the folks behind Kingdom of Loathing. I’m really happy they’re still releasing games, I absolutely loved KoL as a teenager.
