"Throwing a Frisbee" 11:10 ...That is got to be the best analogy ever when it comes to a driver swing. As a beginner, I would slice my tee shot over and over again. I know how to throw a frisbee with my left hand and my swing did not feel like anything like that. More like my left hand felt like I was throwing a frisbee into the ground. Now I understand completely what Alex is conveying. Not only does "throwing a frisbee" help with dropping into the slot, but it also gets the driver into that upward trajectory. The other amazing tip is the wrist angle of your left hand. It helps keep the forearms together at impact, which of course closes the face. Great video!
Congrats! You did something no other RU-vid golf instructor has done- demonstrating the mechanics of the club to generate left & right spins. Nobody seems to do this at the club face level. Excellent job!
By far the best tutorial videos on RU-vid. I'm a new golfer and have been slicing like crazy. Up till now, the only thing that slightly corrected it was keeping driver more upright. You've a great, straightforward teaching style. I've watched a thousand instructional videos on RU-vid and yours are the easiest to understand. Great work. Thanks for the tips. I'll be recommending your videos to everybody. #100club
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant, I’m going to watch the video again, take more note, and take all you say to the range tomorrow evening, many thanks Darran
I have been a slicer for 25 years. At 60 years old Alex has changed my game. Added 20-30 yards on my tee shots and in much better position for my second shot. Now I need to watch more to fix my short game. I can't thank this man enough for making golf more fun as a senior. His fixes are simple to understand and help you avoid analysis paralysis. Great job Alex, wish I would have learned this stuff years ago.
@@AlexElliottGolf Thank you for making these videos. You have helped improve the game of golf for this Rochester, NY resident. I now have the privilege to play some of the best courses around. I recently landed a job at Monroe Golf Club, a private Country Club not far from Oak Hill Country Club. Since I can play for free on Mondays. Thanks to you I won't be embarrassing myself.😉
THANKS! Im 62 a 20 year slicer, nothing worked, Im not there yet! but closer than ever. Im in the pull shot area that you talked about. working on part 2 I think this may take me a bit longer to master but I am sure I will enjoy the process much better now that my slice is gone, still cant wait for that first draw!
Bro! Thank you for that video! I watched it 2 nights ago, went to the range and only hit driver with no real success. watched your vid again, forgot about the shoulders pointing away from the target at release. Only had time to hit a few shots on the range before going to the course. I was not expecting much, almost zero practise. I was erratic, but I hit all time long drives on three holes (I've played this course over 200 times)! I can't wait to actually practise this!
Thank you very much. I had a lesson a few months ago to correct my slice… with the pro by my side I made major improvements. A few days, weeks, months later ALL GONE. This video could have easily been a recording of my session. These are the points I kept wishing I could listen to over and over. I know this will help in real time!
This 100% works. From the last video about coming under with your right hand to grip the club works. I’ve never had a right to left ball flight with my driver. After watching that video and hitting the range, I played yesterday and hit 8/14 fairways. Going to take time to trust it fully but I am here to say it works. Great content again Alex.
the tee in the glove did it for me. it put lots of things in perspective.. that and a ridiculously strong grip.. my shots went right (I'm a lefty) consistently for once.. which means I'm still out to in, but club face is closed, so soon as i get in to out.. the shots will straighten out. thx a billion.
This is one of my favorite videos Alex. I was a slicer big time, time and again would try something new including some of these tip. This helps me understand my swing in total. Cheers, Rick
Thank you Alex tried this out at the range yesterday and the course today helped me out unbelievably!! even golf mates were amazed I shared your video with them and they will follow for tips thanks again dude
This is such a great video!!! I always had a good draw, then I started to take my club straight back and straight threw causing my ball to go straight and then as the ball started to come down the ball goes to the right ending into the trees! I had this thing that my club face must be square at in-pack! Thank you for all your great tutorials!! Regards from South Africa!! ⛳️🏌️♀️🥰
This breakdown makes a hell of a lot of sense Driving range after work for me tomorrow after work 🤞🏼 wish me luck This explanation may just be the revelation I've been crying out for Thanks as ever Alex 👌🏼 100club
Having watched this video, I applied Alex's method today whilst playing a round. All I can say is I played 18 holes 10 required driver. Every drive was straight, longest being 280 yds. 250 avg. I used to have a massive slice, not no more. Not saying it will work for everyone but it has worked for me. Many thanks alex
Definitely not new to golf but have always had a problem with slicing it, I feel like this is really going to help, gonna head to the range and practice.
I know this is an older video, but what a great reference to watch when thing go sideways! Fantastic. Really great video Alex. Keep up the great lessons. From Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada
Winter golf for me would include snowshoes so I have worked on a basement chipping net and some putting. Great ideas working on building the proper muscle memory to get rid of my slice. Thanks so much!,
Alex!! your methods are working for me, thank you!!! fixing the slice right now, next I need to work on taking a divot and gaining more distance with my iron shots
#100 club great lesson again Alex. Winter golf is not to bad here in Sydne🇦🇺🇦🇺 can be cold in the morning but by 9am in the teens.. and no winter greens.
Alex….thanks! The easiest explanation on cause and correction I’ve found. I had a lesson and it wasn’t as easily understood as this short video. I may not correct the slice immediately but at least I have the understanding I need to progress.
Winter golf is only available at 1 course in my area, and you bet your bottom dollar I play it. Hardly anyone plays the course, so I have it to myself to hit as many practice shots as possible. Love it!
@@tom_greenery Money is a good thing and I, unfortunately, don't make the rules. I love my 4 seasons as well. But... for the love of golf, I wish that was an option. My wife's family lives here and that's why we are here. Maybe someday when I'm old.
Unfortunately not in the 100 club but that was a great video. I played today. I was slicing and drawing it all through the round. Maybe 2 decent drives in all. This im sure is going to help greatly alex👏👏
We can only play until end of october here in Ontario. And for me in particular, im not playing anymore until next year when spring returns. Thanks for the great video.
Winter golf - haha. I would have to dig down through 3 feet of snow to tee it up. Short golf season here - mid May to mid October at best. I basically have to start over every season. Shoot in the 90's in May to start the season and finish by shooting in the 70's in October. Thanks for the tips to fix a slice I just started to develop.
I can follow this perfectly except on the downswing I tend to get too low and bottom out way back. Not always but frustrating when it happens. My difficulty is controlling my legs and knee bend. 🥴
At the range today and it worked Alex. Only problem was, I heard a massive “clunk” as the ball hit a tree at the far end of the range. 🤣🤣🤣Finally out drove the range.
I had this same problem, and the way I remedied it was to literally just focus on keeping my left leg (right handed player) straight. it meant that my knee still bent forward and allowed my hips to turn, but my knee didn't cave in and make me bottom out early. it also means that I wasn't overthinking any other part of the swing, meaning that, when my set up is correct, my swing was much more consistent in every other aspect.
Thanks for these tips Alex. I'm using them on the course and was really happy with the new path of my club . It's coming on slowly but I'm getting there😎😎
Great tip, playing this weekend and will hit the range before my round to start working on this slice of mine. will report back to next week with the results. Thanks again Alex for the tips and sharing your knowledge!
Taking this to the range tonight! #100club Edit: Came back to say this worked really well. Establishing a secure, loose grip and making sure my right elbow dropped down helped a ton. Club path was consistently in to out, which I've hardly ever been able to do!
Winter golf? I'm totally in! Lower green fees, tee times available at great courses, and a lot more room to hit recovery shots through the trees; whats not to like?
Hardly a word I don't already know, but I still hit fades and the occasional slice, never draw the ball. Knowing what to do and being able to do it are two entirely different things . . . . its great to be in the 2.9%. And another thing, if an over the topper of 30 years like me suddenly learns to swing in to out, he will push everything way right as he has learned to hold the face open with his out to in swing to get it back somewhere near the target?
Living in Sydney, winter golf isn't a problem.. peak summer is when golf is hard! Sunscreen in your eyes, slippery grips, and the beers don't stay cold for long enough!
