Lately I have been trying different colours of the old faithful Stumpjumper and found that this particular colour pattern has been working absolutely fantastic on the resident Yellowbelly at Melton Reservoir! Hope you enjoy this upload, there is a funny little moment towards the end! :)
GEAR USED:
Rod: Shimano Poison Adrena 662 6-16lb
Reel: Shimano Scorpion DC 150
Line: Sufix 832 Green braid 15lb
Leader: Shimano Ocea Fluorocarbon
Lure: Size 3 Stumpjumper in metallic Green/Gold/Red

I might have to grab one before I head back to Canberra, they are getting a few yellas there at the moment, hoping to break the 17yr Yella drought... The yellas there definitely loved it, so hopefully the ones in Canberra do too 👍 Great session bro, spewing you dropped the one on the UL gear, you will get him next time 👍

They work bloody well on both Cod and Yellas, but the Yella numbers there have absolutely exploded this year. I never used to like stumpys for them as I always got mine on spinnerbaits but this year they've been smashing both size 2 and 3 stumpys. Well worth getting some if you haven't got any!

@@jordythebassist I only have size ones at the moment, so going to get some smaller ones 👍 I got a few cod off the top last trip, but all at night, hopefully I can get some daytime footage this time, the night video hasn't done so well unfortunately...

@bushfishncook2128 cod off the top is always mint, try when the sun isn't on the water and you might be able to get one when the camera can still see hahaha. Size 2 stumpys are the perfect all round size IMO, big enough to tempt a Cod but small enough that Yellas and even Bass will have a crack at it

@@jordythebassist yeah no matter what I had a good time 👍 getting 3 on camera and another while the camera was recharging, a good effort for my first proper surface cod session 👍 Yeah I fished the shadows and did everything the same just didn't get a 1000 casts in before it went dark 😂

@@jordythebassist ahh definitely going to get a bunch of size 2, for the future 👍 My first cod hit on a lure was on a purple size 1, unfortunately he didn't hook up properly though, smaller size probably could have done the job.

It's definitely worth a look! It can take a bit to figure it out but once you do you'll usually find a few fish each trip 🙂

while you were fishing did you see 2 boats a black and a hwite one fishing i was on that white one and pulled a 50cm yella and a few good reddies

Bro what thefuck is up with the noise coming from the mirage drive that would drive me nuts

I think it's just some slight vibration from the propel drive transferring up the camera boom pole and to the camera microphone, it is probably in need of a service but it's not that noisy when I am out there. I was surprised when I first noticed it in the videos.

It is sad that there is only really one access point to the reservoir and the amount of rubbish is disgusting! The local council and VFA really should do something about improving access for those that don't have a boat or kayak! Good fish though!

VFA does their part to stock it so they are already investing a lot of money into it and Melton council doesn't have much to do with it. Southern Rural Water are responsible for the reservoir, but they handed responsibilities over to the ski club to clean it up and they are not doing a very good job of it unfortunately.

Rural water were down there a few days ago and they're disgusted by it. I was speaking with them for a few minutes and I think they're going to start cleaning it up because it's gotten really bad again.
