The store is full of clothes and you can buy any item at a reasonable price. But despite this, there is a desire to redo your things. Some will say it’s easier to sew a new thing from scratch.
Recasting is a great way to practice and master your sewing skills. If the item is damaged, you won't have to regret it. And if it works out, there will be motivation to sew more complex outfits.
Also, to come up with something new, you need to turn on your imagination and become your own designer.
There is also a great opportunity to combine the incongruous. I did this experiment with a men's shirt and a knitted sweater.
You need to take a shirt of such a size that it fits your figure in width.
The idea is to make a knitted insert in the middle and change the collar.
To do this, I first cut off the collar. In any shirt, as soon as you cut it off, the shirt ceases to be a shirt.
I marked two parallel lines in the center, each of which does not reach the sleeve cap by 4-5 cm.
I trimmed the shoulder line and cut out the middle part. Then I marked where the knitted insert would be and cut it out according to the shirt.
I connected the bottom of the cut out part of the shirt and the knitted insert so that the elastic was on the fabric.
Then I did everything in reverse order - sewed a new part into place. Stitched the shoulder line.
I cut out a new neck from the elastic of the sweater. I folded it in half and stitched it to the shirt, having previously marked marks at the same distance from each other on both the shirt and the elastic.
I cut off the cuffs on the shirt and sewed on new knitted ones. The width of the cuffs can be made narrower.
As a result of the alteration, two unnecessary things received a new life.
By the way, this is why many women alter things in order to create an exclusive outfit that is not like everyone else’s.
