Apparently the 2 Sturer Emils which actually saw combat were quite effective in their intended role. War Thunder does have some long range maps, but these were designed for very long range engagements across the Russian steppe and rolling fields. Pretty cool that they built the Sturer Emil on the VK.30.01(H) chassis and decided to stuff a great big 128mm gun in there while they were at it. From what I've read, they were very particular with their tactical use as they were all to aware of the threat that aircraft and artillery posed. War Thunder is kind of the perfect miniature test environment for this thing. It really shows you its strengths and limitations, but unfortunately, for a tank that was designed to engage others from kilometers away, War Thunder is also an incredibly punishing environment. It must've been terrifying for Russian crews engaged by these things, especially considering they were introduced relatively early into the war. Of the two Sturer Emils, "Max" was destroyed in 1942, while "Moritz" was captured in 1943 and can still be seen today in the Kubinka tank museum.
The aircraft issue was thought of by the Germans and what they did was pretty awesome. They made the propellent casing aircraft proof. When an airplane came to strafe it the propellents would be sealed and not explode. Well the sturer max was destroyed by one of propellents which sparked and ignited. The crew did survive
Yes I used it up to 6.3/6.7 I believe one of the rounds has more penetration that the tiger 2, at 6.3/6.7 it worked well sniping killing almost all things it shot because of the large amount of explosive mass
Honestly, the Emil is probably my favorite vehicle in the entire German ground tree. Panzers, panthers, and tigers are cool and all, but strictly in terms of being excellent in its own niche, this guy's where it's at.
I love it to is my favorite to tigers and panthers cant normaly one hit a IS or jumbo or some other heavys the emil can just blow ever thing up one shot at its BR
Just the thing I needed to see while I'm stuck here in the hospital. Please keep up the good work you are doing. I always look forward to watching your video. Keep strong
The feeling of penning a Jumbo from the front with this and all the crew dying of overpressure before the shrapnel even touches them is so satisfying lol
This battle is the perfect example of how the games should play out. This gamemode, with just two caps for each team, results in the most intense and long lasting battles i have experienced in WT. I remember one game with a super close clutch on Frozen Pass, in which I made 16 kills with my whole line up (Leo 2A4, 2A5, 2A6, Tiger UHT, FlakRakRad), died 5 times and on the 6th spawn the game was 3400 to 3500 for their team with 2min left. At that point it was 2vs2, killed one who was camping our spawn and killed the last guy, to push their tickets down to 3300, with just 20 seconds left on the clock.
YAAAAAAS My third-favorite tank in the game, after the Tiger and the Puma :D If I'm ever feeling down on my luck, I just play this and it's basically therapeutic.
I love the emil and dicker max equally. They have brilliant depression and can one shot basically everything they see even when upteired a decent amount.
22:43 i cant believe they added the combustion flames coming out of the exhaust manifolds on the plane motors. crazy detail ill bet 99% of players never notice
On top of the br changes, over pressure has made the 75 Sherman's HE the bane of all open top SPG's 600 grams of explosive mass. I know its more like 300 but it feels like more
Always love some good 410 action, either watching or flying it myself. Can't wait for it to be released in IL-2 Sturmovik soon. Great video. Been stuck in Isolation due to Covid since Thursday and your videos are a great way to combat the boredom.
It may not look like it has much armor, but those two bumps on the front of the chassis and massive breech tend to absorb a lot of damage from frontal attacks. When one does get in a great spot for using that gun depression it can result in lots of bounces. That and having a giant barrel pointed at someone leads to lots of people panicking and missing critical spots.
I once got Gaijined so hard in this. In the same game a T-34, a KV-1 and a Concept 3 (Yes, a bloody Concept 3) ricocheted off my round. The T-34 even did it twice, back to back, and there wasn't even any angle his hull was just turned at me at a lower point than i was standing on too. If Thunder Show wasn't made by Gaijin i definitely would have got the prize for that
Wow! Master class on winning a seemingly landslide loss, in a tank that isn't very effictive and fragile! Very inspiring. Now I am going to go die in my td in the first minute.
Good lord, I wish I had your kind of skill with those big cannon birds, like the Me-410 🐦 ...I end up pancake’ing 90% of the time trying to actually land an effective hit haha
This thing is one of the big hitters against the Jumbo, also if the task you're doing is the one I think it is - Kills with a gun 35mm or larger as an aircraft - It can be air-to-air kills as well
Hey dude, could you do some more early German Vehicles? I managed to get a friend into the game and he's been doing Germany, and most of what I know about Germany is how to kill Germany, so having some videos of someone who knows German vehicles a lot better than me would be really useful for helping him learn the game.
at "a dire situation" you could have deployed airbreaks and might have benefited from decreasing engine power but it would require you to expect to miss
today i got the kv2, and my 5th game on it, only with fpe and parts i got a 12 kills game :) i was amazed my best used to be 8. Stalinium at its summum
The worst thing to happen to me while playing the stur Emil is over pen a ASU 57 and the he didn’t go off and it doesn’t have a MG to fight back after the 20 sec reload
