The SU-5-1 in War Thunder is a Russian Tank Destroyer with a 76mm cannon that's actually really powerful. So powerful in fact, it's still used in Russian Tanks all the way to Battle Rating 3.7!
The only problem the SU-5-1 has is that it only has 8 ROUNDS OF AMMO! That's right, you heard me... a Tank Destroyer with only 8 rounds.
In todays War Thunder Challenge Video I attempt to get 8 kills with only 8 shots in JUST 8 games! That's 8 attempts to try and pull off the impossible!
The question is... am I up to the task? Is the SU-5-1 good enough to do pull it off?!

i remember when i first got into war thunder i played this tank and was amazed it only got 8 shots and got super confused why sometimes my shells would penetrate and kill enemies and whythey wouldnt other times (it was because i took an even distribution of all the ammo types and was firing HE and shrapnel shells at fully armored tanks)

Honestly that was me too. Sometimes when I play with new players I discover those old layouts I had and I chuckle at myself how I didn’t know back then hehe. But that means you have grown and gotten better. We all start there no shame in that and it’s always great to share that knowledge with new players

I was going through russian tree discovered the KV2 accidently took all HE then proceeded to get 4 kills and go insane because I thought pure HE was all worthless.

This was me but taking all APCR because the thing with the highest penetration means it's the best shell, right? Going back and finding tanks with 120 APCR shells loaded is great

Now do it with the Italian one! The 90 mm does have the advantage of overpressuring almost every time it penetrates.

But that's not how overpressuring works.. Overpressuring is when the round FAILS to penetrate. Otherwise it's just the HE filler.

@@voxthesergal Some APHE rounds have enough explosive filler that they trigger overpressure after penetrating and instantly kill the entire crew if they explode the fighting compartment, regardless of what the shapnel does. Most rounds don't have enough, as the threshold is around 125-150g of TNT equivalent. The Italian 90s APHE rounds have 180, or a whopping 520g of TNT equivalent, more than enough to overpressure.

The OddBombZ Challenge: - Using the RBT-5, achieve 4 kills using Tank Torpedos AND live to see the end of the round. I don't expect you to get this right away, so please put this on the backburner or pace yourself. Love your videos dude.

You, Phly and Dollar should do some naval stuff together. I’m sure Dollar would be happy to have some people to play naval with and he could probably teach you two a lot! I’ve seen a good many new players in naval now that some light has finally been shining on it now that Phly has started playing it again recently. As always have a good day Odd! Did anyone figure out a solution to that annoying changelog. They slowed the mouse look movement (c-key) in vehicles, but not in planes. It's kind of annoying, in a tank, I have to turn it to 100%, but once I hop in a plane, it have to turn it back to 32% . Any ideas, BawZ had this issue, but I don't think everyone did.

I find myself hating war thunder, begging with myself to not launch it again and then I see how much fun Odd has and how you can put aside the grind and just do fun things and I'm sucked back into the game. It's as addictive as the craving of a cigarette and hating yourself after it. Awesome video. Good laughs

Bro i was the same. Uninstalled for a year and recently got back into it. Now i only play for fun, not to grind. I cant believe how much fun it is using HE only on the T series and the 2S3M insta delete. I'm having so much more fun using non conventional ways to kill. My K/d dropped from 3.5/1 to 2.5/1 in 2 weeks but it's so much more enjoyable now

Bruh literally me after almost every match when I started playing WT again recently. I get slapped around rage but once I see the main menu I hit that battle button saying “Just one more”. Gets me every time.

I've come back to Warthunder after a bit and I'm getting tough times. Happy to get 3 kills lately ... People don't respect how difficult this game can be and if you don't have great audio(or FPS) it's even harder sometimes. I love watching you BawZ, you're so fun... You make it look like walking down a hill on a Sunny Day...

Bro console can be really difficult, only game i own that would benefit from a PC is this though, but people seem to do so well on PC it's hard to aim quickly on console. And don't worry about audio bro that's screwed up lol

A challenge: take out a low-mid tier SPAA (BTR, M16, milk truck etc.) and use it for AA only (other than for self-dense) and get an ace (i.e., shot down 5+ planes). In over 8000 matches of taking out SPAAs as my 2nd spawn I only managed to get two 4-kill games (once using a wirbel and another with a milk truck). You’re much better at WT than I ever was so maybe you can do this.

Play naval it'll sharpen you up. Other suggestion is AB but don't trust the lead indicator. Had 9 kill spaa games in it with wirb.

I once killed 6 planes with the amazing M8 LAC and it's non-stop machine gun. Ironically that thing is a better SPAA than actual SPAAs.

fun fact the su5 1 aphe shell as so much explosive mass that it Can oneshot a tortoise (by penetrating the roof) and with that i challenge you to take it to 7.3 and get the most kill possible my best is 4

Hey Odd, it's the hurricane 40mm guy again with an idea, not so much a challenge. play the daimler AC mk.1 up at 4.7-5.0 with the firefly and the other 17 pounder spam the brits have. The thing about the AC Mk.1 is unlike the m22 the british 2 pounder has a good bit more pen(with the APHE) over the american 37mm, so penning panthers, tigers and konix tigers is actually doable even from a 100+ meters. it's just a fun little game quirk, and makes german mains mad because they have almost learned to expect the m22's but the Daimler is very unexpected. Just a fun idea from the Hurricane Guy.

I have only been playing for 6 months. it is SO nice to see a "Master " like you getting killed. rather than seeing the You tubers just killing everything in sight like it was mapped out for them. I still can't see things like you or Phlydaily... you see 3 pixels of movement and know exactly where to shoot. I can see the whole tank and still miss. THANKS for showing you are Human too.

Challenge. Bomb using Pe-2-359 from 1500-2000m. 6 100kg bombs - 6 kills (Tip: stay around 380-400km/h in a steep dive, I think this is when the bomb sight is most precise)

Great one BawZ. Got me thinkin about more you could try. Just a day or so ago I got myself a kill with a 75mm Sherman HE round. Not something I do often. You like Shermans. Maybe it'd be fun to see just how many Sherman based HE kills you can get? Not talking about the 105 here either. Your pick, 75mm or 76mm. Let's see it.

I like the tank but in my experience you need a cap to get more ammo but this tank is slow and also un-armoured so getting to the cap is very difficult and especially in town maps i wouldn’t suggest it as a good tank destroyer i would just get the su-122

WP GG! Why not try it with the Italian 90/53 M41M ? 8 shots and more predictable opponents. I really need help with this, I am trying to find that sweet spot like you say; you need to be close range, too risky to snipe a bunch, but too aggressive and you get gunned down.

how about an Ultimate Ladder Climb Challenge Extreme! ie. take any reserve/1.0 vehicle of your choosing. start at 3.0 BR. and every time you get a kill. you raise the BR of your matchmaking by 1. the challenge ends when you fail to get a kill in 3 games. so you have 3 lives to see what your Ladder Climb Challenge High Score is! (the highest BR you get to)

If you want a really hard challenge, play the French starting helicopter. The catch? You have to use the bomb load out. On one of the worst helicopters in the game.
