This is a VERY budget friendly tent and it is the River Country Trekker Tent 2.2 and this video is an initial Setup and First Look.
At the same time of this upload, I have posted a warning about this tent; DO NOT BUY IT!
Link to Warning Video : • ⚠️Warning ⚠️ Do Not Bu...

Link : www.amazon.com...
Price : $55
Weight : 3lbs 2oz
Colors : Blue and Green
Versions : This is the 2.2, there is a 2 version which has very little mesh. When I saw the model 2, it is essentially a single walled tent which looks to be a condensation machine! I might get it in to test out in the future but I figured I would start here with this product from a company which I personally haven’t heard of before.
Stumbled upon this tent on amazon while looking for interesting products to purchase and to review for you all. As mentioned before, I haven’t heard of this tent, looked online and didn’t see any real reviews and being that I’m agenda free that is how I got about the products which I decide to review and for everyone who supports the channel it is appreciated. Because I’m agenda free I can do real reviews without holding back any punches. If there is something I don’t like, I say so.
Requires two Trekking Poles, two sticks or it can be tied between two trees.
Super fast and easy set up! Great for hiking, backpacking, camping, or adding to your survival bag, this compact tent will fit into your backpack without filling it up.
This tent is intended for use with your own trekking poles, but can be used with almost any stick that is over 42 inches tall.
At over 7 feet long, over 5 feet wide, and 42 inches high, this tent offers more room inside than almost any other ultralight tent.
This tent has large mesh sidewalls and vents making it close to a full 2-layer tent. Double wall tent on the sides and front only. The back wall is single wall.
Two-person tent comes with 8 ultralight stakes, guy lines, and a carry bag.
Internal loops: I would string a line between these two points for drying cloths, hanging items, etc.
Would love to see a front vestibule version of tent

I've had this tent for a little while now. It's mine and my GF's "backpacking" tent. It's the only tent I've found light enough for both of us and gives us plenty of room. The company sent a letter with the product saying there is a 1 year review on the tent, but if something goes wrong past that, contact them anyways. They seem like a nice enough company. We love this tent. Though I do agree, it should have a back door.

Wow talk about memories, I remember growing up (late 80's) and I had a very similar tent except it came with 2 2pc aluminum poles vs the trekking poles you have. It was my 1st tent, was great as a kid in the back yard.

I have the 2.2 and it has worked really well for me. I've had it in rain and even hail, and it has held up fine. I saw your video telling people to not buy this tent, so I'm interested to see what problems you had with the tent.

First thing i saw that i didnt like was the grommet the trecking poles slide into, not big enough to let the end of the pole fully enter. A good strong wind and your tent will be on the ground.

I own this tent. I seam-sealed it and sprayed in inside and out with Camp Dry. Slept in it during a cold-ish rainy night. Wind was coming from the side (not the end) of the tent. It was buttoned down all the way. My results were thus: Plenty of ventilation through the side vents, ZERO condensation, and not a drop of water leaked into the tent. I kept warm and dry all night long. But you DO have to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and seal it.

I have this tent and have used it 4 times. I'm extremely happy with it. It's pretty light, pretty big footprint, stays warm on cool nights, and is super easy to set up. I haven't used it on warm nights yet though but have used it in light rain and I stayed dry inside. For the price, I'm delighted

I love my trekker 2v, nice big vestibule, enough space for 2 people. Haven't had a super rainy night but no issues with the light stuff. Spent probably around 2-2.5 weeks in it total so far on various trips.

I have this tent and have had trouble with water coming in an all day rainstorm. The first one I ordered had a defect in the ridge seam and leaked terribly. The company sent me a new tent when I contacted them. The new tent has been tested in the rain and is letting water in the back corners. I’m going to put on some seam sealer and see if that fixes it. It’s a great tent for weight, ease of setup, and space. Can’t believe they can sell it so cheap.

I have this tent and love it! I've used it twice both times it rained heavily and it didn't leak at all. One night it did have some condensation on the walls but we camped by a creek on soggy ground with 2 adults and a large dog so probably my fault.

Been using the 2.0 for almost 4 years. Condensation has only been an issue a couple of times. Bought the 2.2 today, I think the mesh sidewalls will be nice. Great tent though, I used it in the Utah desert, the Uinta mountains, the Tetons.....it's always done great.

it's basically a modern version of a 1960's-70's a-frame tent without a rainfly. we had similar tents when i was a boy scout, we deliberately washed and dried the new tents at the laundromat to remove the polyurethane coating from the interior fabric so that condensation could not build up inside and used visqueen plastic sheeting to make rainflys for them. they were cheap and heavy, but bombproof in a storm when set up properly. unless you get a real tent with a watertight rainfly you're going to always have issues in the rain, period.

I almost just got this exact tent for taking my youngest daughter camping with her Girl Scout troop, but went with the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow instead. I needed a decent, yet affordable 1 - 2 person tent since there aren't always trees to hang from were we camp. So far I've used it a few times to test it out and its done great. I'll be doing my review on it in the next few days if your interested in checking it out. It's a really neat tent, it looks like a mini baker tent almost. One whole side is a large noseeum door with a flap of tent material over it that makes a vestibule and doubles as the front tarp portion like a baker tent when it's unzipped and raised. It can be set up with trekking poles as well as line. OneTigris also has a 1 person Lavu/tipi type tent as well as 2 that are all noseeum except for the floor. But anyways, nice vid, love the channel. Check mine out for lots of hammock gear reviews.and this tent soon as well....

Better flow-through ventilation would improve things...along with more generous pull-out fabric to protect the side vents from blowing rain. At that price, a good fair weather starter tent for backyard adventures.

Lack of airflow is a non-starter for me. Put a mesh door in the rear and I might give it another look. Thank you for reviewing these less popular, more affordable, fully functional tents, packs, and other gear. This gear gets overlooked in favor of the expensive ultralight brands that most reviewers focus exclusively on. Hat's off to you, keep the reviews coming, always informative!!

Camped my first night with this tent 2 days ago, I had a great time. No rain, only light dew~ so not sure about the water retention myself either. However, my camping group were in a spot with some decent wind, and had no issues with this tent on that aspect. It got to 38°F and I had a thick sleeping bag, obviously this tent isn’t made for cold weather, but with a good bag it was no issue. 8/10 an excellent tent.

Use both poles at the open end to match the shape of the triangle and a stick for the other, non opening side. The poles are presumably adjustable and it would be easy to lash them together at the peak with one poking through the grommet. It would make for a nice wide open, unencumbered entrance.

That tent, pound for pound and bang for the buck, is the BEST tent you have ever reviewed. At the time I think it was 55 dollars. Five by Seven foot, 35 square feet of floor space, use trekking poles or cut your own from the trail. A little over 3 pounds. Green will go stealth camping nicely. Has mosquito netting. American made. I bought one and it is great.

I just looked at this company's other Amazon listings. Nothing else that impressive, except maybe the $40 inflatable sleep pad. It's a pretty good size (82x26x2) although I'm sure it's more or less a fairweather pad. It also claims to have both hard and soft sides.

I may be old fashioned but I do like the way it looks like a tent and less like something which has just landed from 'out there'. It's a pity about the problems you had with it and I hope the manufacturers can sort them out because this is a product which will appeal to a lot of people at a great price point!

As someone new to backpacking, does anybody know if having a small but moderately powerful fan running inside the tent (either blowing air in or out) would help with condensation? I have one of those quite powerful but small rechargeable handheld fans off Amazon (it’s just called ‘handfan’ and is a fan on a separate little power bank) and on its lowest setting it can run for days. That’s something I’ll bring along on a hiking trip regardless to help with sweating, but was curious if running it inside the tent at night would improve the condensation? Thanks

I don't consider $55 for a 2 man tent great 🤨 Maybe for a 4 man tent. Look at the bottom of the tent, the well is low. I look for tents with a high well, means they are more water resistant.... 6-8inches.... The Sierra Nevadas have summertime monsoons, especially at higher elevations (12-14000 ft).... I'm not a backpacker, I'm more of a camper.... How does the tent hold up in bear country???? 🤔

Perhaps it would be good for someone who has a low-budget/getting started in backpacking(?) But it's better than an old-style military shelter half tent! At a minimum, I would also incorporate a rain fly!

Looks like more of a summer or early fall rent to me. No harsh weather tent. Thanks for the review. Great vid
