My internet has been really bad, so I apologize for the weird quality since these are taken from my streams!
But all in all, VERY impressed with this board. It's insanely surprising that it costs 225 to start for the kit. Considering it doesn't have a weight, I wasn't expecting this sound profile. I have heard it without the mid foam and it does have the resonance that I expected but it's impressive that the foam really seals the pcb plate combo to make it sound deeper.

I would definetly get this over a nk87 PCB mount stabs higher quality finish and design IMO and you also get a flexer mount (gasket mount) which often people prefer but some do prefer stiff

Hey man kinda unrelated to the board. but I have a kbd 67 lite r2 and I want an upgrade, should I go for the qk65? Range is about 290 max. Cheers!

Honestly from what I’ve seen the qk would be an upgrade but it’s all preference. $180~ ish shipped for aluminum 65 that sounds nuts is hard to beat especially when they achieved that price making the cuts in places that are smart etc so you don’t see them unless you’re building it

alex how you feel about the typing feel compared to the freebirdtkl? i feel like personally I would still buy the freebirdtkl because of clack, "old-school" clack u could say but idk if that's copium and should consider this instead

I think that's a bit of cope. Freebird tkl sounds a little bit too hollow and pingy imo. Ik you can fix it with force break but even so, I still feel like it's missing something. Sounds a little thin. Honesty would just buy something like the Geon Frog for a bit more if you want clack.

A super clacky switch will drive it to that direction, or a carbon fibre plate However the mounting style means fundamentally it won’t be as high pitch as a o ring mounted board

Idk if you are still wondering but the freebird isn't as reliable as the tiger 80. When researching which to buy I noticed a lot of people had issues with the freebird they received (poor quality missing peices ect) otherwise they are pretty similar. I heard that the freebird doesn't sound as deep as the tiger so you you like a lighter sounding board the freebird is a great option. I am more biased to the tiger because of the colors and sound but they freebird is a great option. Just received my tiger today and it's amazing I have no complaints

Also this is the first time I’ve used staebies, the hype is real, but all my stab’d mods don’t have a return sound signature. They return faster than I can execute a follow up actuation but zero sound. Is this normal? Using broken in mx blacks from Loobed for context. Sorry for the spam, deep into a rosé and switch lube session.

I like the kbdfans stuff. They're slowly pushing the hobby forwards, for sure. Have a kbd67 lite with Boba U4s for the office. Just sad that this for sure loses against a GMMK Pro in price/performance, with that one being available for 140 bucks and free shipping within the US right now. With tax and shipping, the Tiger 80 is at least twice the price. Hope we see more keyboards tweaked for cheaper manufacturing like the QK65. Probably just a matter of time. :)

I would actually argue that I liked this quality of almost everything more than the GMMK pro. But agree! I love seeing the hobby pushed forward and made more accessible

@@alexotos Sure, the GMMK Pro is kinda rough because you need to tweak it a lot to get any flex, the sides are thin and pingy and the overall design is super basic. But it's half the price and comes with a knob :D

If you’re going to compare everything to the GMMK Pro nothing will be good price to performance besides a Q1 or a Akko Mod007v2. As the price goes up you pay for diminishing returns and that’s just how it goes is all. A 1K keyboard like a keycult isn’t 6-7x better than a Q1 or a GMMK Pro but it’s definitely a better keyboard.

If GMMK Pro is the standard you’re comparing price to performance, then it already a losing battle comparing other boards that are priced above it. If anything, I’d argue QK65 is the better price to performance since I do not have to do any mods to make it sound good, actually can be customized QMK / VIA (unlike the sorry excuse for software Glorious tries to provide for it), and also 65% are my jam (this is for sure a preference thing since I do not like many 75s and knobs on a board kind of an eyesore) But at the end of the day, Qwerty and KBDfans making these lower end boards that can stand up against boards priced upwards of 4-600 dollars is great and I hope the trend continues
