Just found this Pete. Fantastic video. Went straight to the range and tried the short floaty shot. A total revelation, never hit my chips so clean and able to repeat it too! Will be working my way through the rest in time. Thank you!
I struggle so much with my short game. This was a fantastic way of dissecting which technique/method is best for different types of pitch and chips shots. Thank you.
I must go practice out of the bunker. I have always been taught to open the club face and stance & have hit both good and disastrous shots. This makes so much more sense to me. Great lesson!!!!!
Fantastic video! I needed this video and would love to see a follow up video to this “short game course management.” Put the ball in the worst spots around greens on a real course and take through shot and loft selection. Plugged bunker in the upslope. Ball some how resting on the down slope of the bunker. Down hill slope ball couple feet above the green. Etc. the rock hard bunker shot on your local loop. You know all the places I actually have to chip from around the green not the lay up front or accidental miss layup bunker center of the sand. Please man!
Yes please, more of these videos. Many of us may not have the possibility to get world class training from so many coaches and this is clearly a higher level understanding
It can be so hard to find a coach who explains the "feels" thru out a certain swing, chipping, pitching or in the sand. Fred is world class at simplicity of explanation with the most crucial aspects of coaching. Great video, you guys have made it very easy to learn from this
I may have to watch this on a daily. As soon as our snow melts I am heading to the practice range and working on these shots. Might have to wait for the ground to thaw out before doing bunker shots though.
Fantastic video. Clear explanations and demos. I’ve saved the video …. I suspect I’ll need to keep coming back to try to understand why Fredrick makes it look so simple and yet I find it so challenging 😉
Only halfway through watching this but a big THANK YOU ! The first part, the longer, high spinning pitch is what I've been needing!! I can do the high "floating" pitchs. Even the "flop" shots. My problem was that I could never figure out why "all" of my wedge/pitch shots would come up short! I have/had to make "full" swings with a pitching wedge just to get 85yds! Absolutely enlightening!! Thank you for this content!!
Amazing lessons! Love your work Pete! I have only been able to teach my son the bump and run but struggling with the rest. Plus, he is now at the age where he doesn't listen to me anymore.😢 This will be my go-to training vid for short game. Would be great to tie this off with a putting video. Like the bunker shots, we don't get a lot of practice in except for the putting green before a round 😅
Frankly, this is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time on short game. Especially for those who are intermediate to advanced and looking to dive into the details and add more tools to their short-game tool kit!
I’ve watched this video at least 10 times now and been working on the 50yd pitch the floaty chip and bump and run and i feel its going to completely change my short game. Amazing content
This video is absolutely GOLD standard, what a content you have produced and congratulations to Fred as well explaining in simple English and you executed it instantly. Peter we need more of these type videos
Great video!!!...... So easy to understand and brilliantly explained, simple enough for the average golfer to implement. More videos like this please Pete!
Great video! I’m trying this out today as the short game is my biggest weakness.. I’d rather hit 100 yards out to the green than anything 60yrds and in. Wonderful class
Came back to this after my latest round. Spare me I am very amateur and I broke 100 for the first time (and almost 90 had they not aerated the greens). This video helped me do it. Such a simple and great lesson to retain on the course.
Added to my download, i will watch this over and over 😊. I needed this yesterday, I had a 8 on a par three trying to hit from the rough over a mound onto a green sloping away and down. Arg
Great tips. One of my biggest bunker problems is the varying conditions of sand at different courses. This course has fluffy sand. That course has water-packed hard sand. The bunkers at the next course are packed dirt or clay. How does your swing need to change due to soft/hard sand? What I hate most are bunkers with gravel or little rocks mixed in. I hate the thought of marring my clubs. FYI, pickleball is an awesome sport. Tremendous fun. Lots of opportunities to compliment and laugh at your friends. I teach pickleball lessons when not playing golf.
Something I feel like would have been great to have explained is the face plain tilt on the bunker shots. So when you open the face wide open, with a normal setup, the face will point right, but if you lower the hands enough, it will straighten up the face angle which will enable you to aim straight at the target. Also applies when you open the face up on high launching chip shots
This video is one of the most comprehensive, easy to understand, and executable technique videos on the short game I've ever seen on You Tube. Thank you for this!!!
I love these videos that focus on the short game. An area of the game that can be costly if not executed correctly. I will be watching this video numerous times during practice sessions.
Greatest wedge video ever! Thank you Peter. I live in Arizona and truly glad you got to see what this place is all about! We have some of the most beautiful courses next to Florida!
This video is absolutely GREAT !!!!, what a content you have produced and congratulations to Fred as well explaining in simple English and you executed it instantly.I tested this morning the proposed change and just scored +4 !!! Just incredible !!!
Fred is such a great coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excellent excellent excellent! Thanks Pete for introducing him to us, will be following his videos FOR SURE!!!
Thanks Peter and Fred. These are the things I think could shave a few shots off the scorecard each round. A friend actually suggested that if I can't find a course with a practice bunker, just to play a round and spot my ball in a green-side bunker and finish the hole. It's not the same, but I want to try it out.
Now this is content we’ve needed Pete for ages I’ve watched this today literally got home from work and had a go in my back garden I can’t believe how easy it is through watching this video
I've literally just walked in from the range completely demoralised. I've just spent over an hour blading and chunking my 58° wedge (which once upon a time was my strongest part of my game) I've put RU-vid on and this video as if by magic popped up. I've just spent 20 minutes in my garden and omg it's never felt easier to hit my wedge thank you soo much Peter.
Fantastic content - really help you hit four basic short game shots. Great to hear Fredrick and Pete articulate how each shot requires a different technique (“you don’t just shorten your swing as you get closer to the hole”). If you can master these four techniques, you are on your way to a solid short game.
Great video. This reminds me of Rick's recent putting lesson video with Brad Faxon.. extremely informative and will definitely be rewatching it multiple times. Thank you for the great content!
