Jay is the kind of guy that could get along with literally anybody. With how much talent and popularity he has, he’s still the most down to Earth dude there is.
So I also ride MTB, MX, and BMX and this channel gives me everything I need to stay motivated! I love to mix it all up and get on different bikes and love seeing a channel that seems the same! I don’t even mind the gaps between posts because I know how much prep is needed and am just grateful for the post when it comes!
8:16 Land on the gas, not wide open, but on the gas for forward momentum. You wont stick then slide, you will accelerate and control the slide with lean angle and throttle. The spongy wet chocolate is tricky but once you nail it, it will make sense. Think if it like riding your rear wheel through sand.
So my first comment was before I started watching the video … and when you started following that dude for your first real attempt, I know how terrifying that is and I was so nervous the whole time you were jumping lol I’m amazed how far you made it that first lap and I’m so locked in on this video 7:06
Nice Video! Fellow two wheel lover from Germany here. I think you have got an easier time in those long cornes and bumpy bits by hitting the next gear. Keep up the daily upload :)
After you said "this guy might be a bit much for me" I said out loud "yeah but it got you actually riding that bike though didn't it" haha fucj yeah dude I dig your videos. Rip it up. Give that bike some love too haha.
You act like a full on amateur, but are actually a good rider...and you stuck with that dude, and actually caught him up a little, and he is probably a local A rider !.
Jay, is there anything you can't do on 2 wheels. I've seen it all including freestyle from you. Keep it up buddy. Age has stopped me but I still live it through you guys.
You're like the moto version of Skills with Phil (mtb channel). Good rider but super fun channel and always happy...subscribed! Edit: Actually, did you do a video with Phil? As I was watching I feel like I remember a video of a guy that looked like you on Phils channel lol probably why your channel eventually showed up in my feed but regardless, loved this video. You rail.
Yea, the jumps are big today, and usually you don't need any corner speed to clear them because they are in the middle of the straight more. But we had some pretty big jumps in the 80's and 90's. I think the sport took more skill back then, (but it is a different, higher speed skill today), because we usually put jumps after corners so you had to have good corner speed to clear them, (which would greatly help the corner speed of a lot of Go-Pro amateurs I see today. I have never seen son many racers so slow in the corners. No offense. Just what I see.), and then we let the bumps develop to make it even harder. We never groomed tracks to this extent, but I can see with the speed today (tracks got faster because of the faster 4-stroke. They would go back if the 2-stroke came back), it would be very dangerous to let a track get rough before a 45-55 mph jump. Lots of injuries in this sport today, more than any other sport in the world, (because the EPA forced the faster 4-stroke on the industry), and i am old enough to remember what happened to the 3-wheeler. I think we can bet money, that if the excessive injuries hit the TV news----the sport may be finished soon after legislatively. Just like the 3-wheeler with less government power over what we make and sell than today.
I've been to that track once and video does not do that tripple justice. I didn't hit it that day but Sweeny MX has a similar one that I did shortly after.
I think if you got some better suspension and got it tuned to you, you would keep up with any of these peeps at the track! This guy can do it all haha i just started my offroad journey a year ago at 32 age sadly but having a blast so far! even though i am no were near any good like you and these guys on the track its kinda intimidating sometimes to start this MX stuff seeing all the fast boyz n girlz but ill start soon :D *ps sorry for the bad English im from The Netherlands to bad my last name isnt Herlings haha*
Suspension is definitely on the to-do list. Once there's a week where I definitely won't be riding, I'll send it out. Hyped to hear you're getting into the off road action. It's never too late :) Don't be nervous to try out a track. Everyone is friendly and the fast guys will just go around you as long as you hold your line and focus forward.
@@jaydalton Thanks Jay for the reply back and motivation! Also thank you for making the videos and spreading positivity, i hope you get that suspension work done soon cant wait to see if it makes a big difference *because i'm soo not on any level to would notice that hahah* would be cool to hear and see! Not to treat you like my personal therapist here haha but i came from a long low point in my life and having alot of social anxieties still so starting the MX journey is hella scary for me at least haha so hearing you got overal good experiences with people at the track is awesome to hear and motivates me to go out n get it done! Oke essey over sorry for that Jay just wanna say your doing an awesome job making these videos they take alot of time n effort to make i know that from experience. Thank you for making them!
You could need to pull the clutch in air and release it on the downside. You’re losing a lot of momentum trying to engine-break the 2t. It sounds like you’re a gear too low on most everything.
I went yesterday to test out the reverse layout. It was decent but super dry and there aren’t really any landings anymore lol. Got some gopro but not sure if I’m going to post it
OK, I'm just gonna point out that he wants to "get in w/ this guy" then complains about it being "too wet" then proceeds to say"he might be too much for me" and that's it..... Not gonna say anything else, just wanted to make sure everyone heard him correctly. 😏 🤣🤣
As a ex racer who's life revolved around anything 2 stroke I can say the biggest improvement you can make is going custom shocks. The jumps you are hitting really requires it especially on older bikes, atv's. You are taxing the factory suspension and constantly bottoming it out so it's time and your body will thank you for it. Night and day will make bike feel totally different, yes it's one of if not the most expensive part to upgrade but it's needed. Watching this makes me wish I could still race and ride like that but can't after my spinal cord injury.
Use code JAY to make it a bit cheaper 😂 Don't know if this helps, but the tubs do last me quite a while. Also ends up being less expensive than buying bottled sports drinks off the shelf most of the time
