Underrated channel. I just picked up a X-Caliber 9. Tried the Roscoe and didn’t feel as nimble for the pavement that I’ll ride with the family 70% of the time. Now I’m wondering if I would get used to the Roscoe if I just rode it longer than the 5 mins I demoed it? Anyways I do agree with the handle bars being too wide. I’m curious if the guys would do this mod for me at the local Trek shop…great video! I envy your trails as I live in the Houston area lol
I got a trek roscoe 8 because of you Matty, it’s become my new favorite thing. Maybe I’ll see you on the trail one of these days if you’re in the Loveland/Fort Collins area
Wow I didn’t realize how nice bear creek trail is. My brother always tells me about that trail. I’m the garbage man down there I didn’t even realize how close I am to it.
I like the scenery, when I ride it's rarely just about the ride. It's not just that you have nice trails, and tons of them, but they're supported. Someone put a lot of work into maintaining that trail, it's perfectly groomed!
I hit the new trail for the first time this week. It was pretty fun. I definitely need to work on hitting berms. I don't get there very much often anymore just because it is too busy. I miss the good ol days
Awesome trail Matty! I've had my Roscoe 9 for 3 weeks now and the first thing i did after riding it was get some 50mm riser bars (which only just fit due to tight internal cabling) and trimmed them down to 740mm. And put new grips on. My wrists took a hella beating the first couple of times i rode it without the new bars. #roscoegang
Love my 760mm bars. Alot if people think shorter than 770 is too short now but I enjoy not having to worry about tree tapping every 20 seconds and makes bike feel more agile(for me anyway)
Totally agree it’s the main reason why I love this hobby / form of exercise so much! I went from one bike to 4 because I love it so much - exercise while out in nature marveling over its beauty
Trimmed mine to 760 as well. I’m sure it would feel twitchy with a shorter stem though. I have a 50mm. My XC trails are narrow and trees are close so 780 felt scary going fast and I did clip a tree and crashed once. Turning feels much quicker as well.
Matt - I highly recommend swapping out your TranzX dropper lever with the PNW Loam Lever 2.0 . Its a direct replacement and is 100% compatible with your existing TranzX cables. Color match in Grey . The smoothness and positioning is worth the change. I did it on my '23 Roscoe 8. Its MONEY.
Hey Matty, You are making me think about moving to CO, just for all the awesome CO trails! What is your opinion of the best area to stab out from for all the best options?
Lair O’ the Bear is one of my favorites when I visit my daughter in CO. In May I rode the trail and it looked like they were building a new new trail. Is Rutabaga the new trail? Is it bi-directional or one way? Bikes and hikers? I really like it when you take the time to showcase the trail systems you ride - you are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful area.
Have you considered getting a truck? It makes transporting bikes so much easier. You don't need to remove the wheels or anything. You can also transport 6 bikes at once.
