Whoa! What a world of peace, love and understanding without environmental pollution. The simple lifestyle is soul comforting and something to be preserved. Hmmm much love 💖🎉🎉🎉
What i wouldn't do to be adorned with such lovely beads . These people are beautiful and absolutely fascinating. I have such a huge respect for the Indigenous tribal humans of the world. Imagine the peace that would exist amongst humanity if we could just respect each other and Mother Earth. Thank you for allowing us a moment into you're breathtaking lives ❤❤🌏☮️
I like the Maasai people. I like how they live, their gender / age roles. More importantly I like their conservation efforts. Sometimes I dream about living on the African plains with all the wildlife nearby. They are truly lucky, amazing, and beautiful!
Hey man don't be upset its not just American Chinese Japanese russian German anywhere in the world they want to par with a yardman 😂it is what it is 🇯🇲🦍
Very fascinating documentary. With challenges. Sad to traditional cultures dying in many countries trying to adapt international norms. While watching I was feeling both sad , amazing and some moments of happy for children going to school... Watched from Papua New Guinea in the Pacific. Thank you. Stephen
Sharing in the U.S. without any cat fights, getting along with sister wife, respect for the 1st wife, visit one another in a friendly manner, all married to an AMERICAN man e.g. 5 wives 1 husband, but sharing a wife it's the 1st time I hear about this..im and African living Morden lifestyle (we still have long way to go bringing back our history decolonising our minds
People who are flashing out harsh word towards Hoffman should realize that she left her life and integrated within the Maasai community as a wife and even gave them a child so she is entitled to every single resources with the Maasai community as their wife and not a tourist neither a white woman.Copy that
Lived in SW USA with Native Americans of several tribes, very different from this, more modern but many the same things, such as adherence tobtribal culture and ritual beliefs still prevalent.. This stiry and video was very good. Thk you
Sounds like yt bs, but was able to spend a few days with Maasai in Kenya in 2010. Wonderful, kind, welcoming people. And also total badasses. Red garb scares the shit out of everyone and everything on the plain.
The Masai are living a far better life than many other Africans who have accepted western lifestyles in urban areas of towns and cities of Africa..They are not influenced be western capitalistic lifestyle that veiw money as thee life source. They live simply and manage their life with great cure and preservation .Definitely their lives are not humpered by drugs chronic western alcoholism and crime. They adhere to rigid social order that entails respect fir the elderly.. Africans who are westernized are not getting full westernization as the westerners reject them. They are keep behind no matter hiw westernized they can be The Masai dint suffer from that rejection. l would love to be one of them . lts unfortunately l was born in Capetown under Apartheid and l have to deal with half acceptance to the western culture and all the ills of being an urban black in RSA.
By the way the other Africans were forcefully westernized, modernized, dispossessed and colonized and made to abandon their own culture. Please be sensitive on your comments. Not yet uhuru!!
I'm from zvishavane Zimbabwe African culture is good and nice but stop supporting ppl premitive things like sharing wives they are now sexualy transmitted disease
Great show. I am married to a Kenyan from the Luo tribe from which President Obama's family is from. I have visited the Maasai and Masa Maura on my many trips to Kenya. I love this tribe. Or safari driver was Maasai and quite knowlegable of all of the culture. Kenya is my second home. 😇😇😇😇😇
Great Documentary , exceptionally well narrated , with due respect to community, they should be more sensitive towards animal kingdom so as to maintain ecologica balance and stop cruel practices towards livestock, and the wild!
Time marches on, 100 years ago (1917) the last wagon train went thru from Kansas to Colorado, maybe ignorance is bliss; as a farm boy myself, I’ve watched the beautiful Parcel Trench go from 25 farm lights on a vast prairie to an innumerable connecting swaths of lights that have all but extinguished the agrarian way of life, now, fenced and cross fenced 1/8 acre lots litter the landscape where groceries store sell pre packaged & synthetic foods to the refugees who never touch the Terra Firma.
That Hoffman planned ot all out lol. Pretended she was in love, got a kid and then used the kid to as and escape goat back to Swiss, so she could write a book and make millions 😅😅. Tell me otherwise.
Let us not be driven by these western or tourists to change our cultures. We were all created by the same God and He gave us different traditions and cultures according to His will. So I don't approve the fact that one will judge the culture of the other to the benefit of his. Sharing wives or offering his wife to a guest as sign of respect, that's their culture and we should respect that. - How dare you? - Why should you judge their culture? - Do you think your culture is better than the other's?
I'm still at the beginning. I can't help but wonder if anyone else tuned into the colonizer mindset. He speaks of the modern world to mean the world forged by Europeans. He speaks of education as the only education is schools established in the form of European schools as if the young people being taught their own traditions is not education. Lastly, everything he described about Massai social structure is virtually all traditional African social structures. Again, I'm only about 20% in. Just had to share as I feel it is important to be always aware of the colonizer attempting to cultivate and maintain our colonized mindset. One People, One Love
Sex tourism is spreading HIV/AIDS in the Maasai Community. A lot of old foreign women especially from Europe go there and trap the Morans in monogamous marriages that don’t work for the men and those men leave behind the other poor wives to fend for themselves and this exposes the illiterate women to S*xual abuse from other men in exchange for basic needs and that of their children. If a white woman wants to marry a Moran and take him to Europe please take his other wives and their children too, stop creating broken families. Notice that Polygamy is acceptable in their society so wives do not have any jealousy when it comes to the husband because he is essentially a tool for procreation and continuity of the tribe because there are no sperm banks like in Europe and other developed nations. The women need the men only for protection and procreation, they can survive without him if there were sperm banks.
I love the thumbnail of a super model as if that woman was in this tribe. 🤣Look at her flowing hair compared to the complete lack of for a lot of them. 😆
The outward appearance is one of respect. Mentioning a European woman who went to live a traditional African lifestyle is suspect. Note that the story ended with, "concerned fornthe wellbeing of her daughter, she chose to return to Switzerland. " The subtle message is Switzerland is better. The unspoken conclusion being presented is that the Euro-woman really did not respect the ways of the people, she was merely enamored. If she respected people, she would not remove her daughter from her people. Now her daughter having being raosed in the tribes of the colonizer will see her father's people, her people, as a distant lesser people. There are certainly positives within this video. However from the perspective of the African, we must be ever vigilant to purge the colonizing from our collective consciousness. There is a clear implied message that adapting to the modern world by gradually relinquishing that which makes a people who they are is a positive thing. I cite these concerns not to attack the presenter, but to call to awareness of those of us who fail to recognize that the landscape of MODERN COLONIZATION is the MIND of the colonized. The presenter may be doing his best to provide a positive and respectful presentation. He may or may mot be aware the colonizing values being encouraged. But Africans for their own sake, must assume he is aware, and must watch always with an eye of suspicion. Up Up Ye Mighty Race and Be What You Will!
Cheating is a common mistake… but doesn’t mean wrong behavior should be appreciated… they should be leave alone…. Good looking education didn’t grace their culture yet …
I can’t remember what doc I was watching but I remembered a yt guy went to visit a tribe in Africa and one of the chiefs wanted him to sleep with his wife. She wanted too as well. That’s wild and interesting.
@joanbennett4217 yeah hiv/aids devastated Africa about three decades ago, "Dubya" gave $250million to thwart the spread of hiv/aids and Africa is not going to back pedal. So VP Kamel Toe Harris wanted African leaders to accept same sex marriage, all the leaders wholeheartedly rejected her, wasn't no more Hershey tunnels being packed in Africa
I respect most cultures beliefs as long as it’s not hurting anyone. Though I have one question… with so many children around and such small huts, how do the adults have their “bonding” time in privacy? 😂 I mean no disrespect but I am curious
@@myrnawashington9057dee guuud ol yte foke, they walk tens of miles to towns and rummage through the trash pile and dumpsters, then occasionally a charitable relief agency will tarry out to the villagers
You're right this lie about wives sharing is a blatant attempt to normalise European customs of wives sharing 🤥🤥🤥. I totally agree let them tell their own story rather than a European corrupt version.
So in her twenties she went to Kenya on vacation with her boyfriend. He met women and she met a her future Maasai warrior husband and left her boyfriend. She would have been well off in her life had she not gone to Kenya. She found Kenya and her Maasai warrior more fascinating than her boring life back home. The fame and fortune never happened.
@@anthonyproffitt5341 fortune she may have obtained without visiting Africa... But worldwide fame came from highlighting the culture of African People, not from highlighting her own culture.
@@macmen007 maybe that was her motivation, but I don’t see very much fame nor fortune in the short term as nobody paid attention to her for the most part. At the end of the day she was a young person who wanted something different than what she knew back in 1986 when there was no instant attention world wide. I know a lot of folks that are fascinated with cultures different from what they knew growing up and have genuine interest, respect, and desire to learn/experience. Nothing wrong with appreciation of other cultures.
You quite did this piece to detail. Very educative. Unfortunately, capitalism has killed the communal lifestyle in Africa. Individualism has taken over exacerbating the poverty situation in such communities. The weak and disadvantaged are overexposed today more than ever before. Communal life (resource sharing) and Age group training were central to life in Africa reducing stress and it's associated immunity reduction thus guaranteeing better health, happiness and joy of Africans
Maaasai People, 🔋 powerful nation, they put lion 🦁 in check,they can kill them,they smart,courage, resilience, peaceful,respected, flexable,strength beautiful!😍🎂🏆😎🌏💪😟🇮🇳💓🧡🇺🇸🌍🌄
I totally agree with you this narrator is fabricating dangerous lies to normalise European customs of sharing their women. I'm totally uncomfortable hearing such outrageous lies of black African people in relation to sharing wives.
The Writer does not know the Maasai People. He even does not know where they live! Masai Mara is a very, very, very small area of Masailand. It is a just a strip of land along Mara River. In Kenya alone Masailand is a huge territory encompassing Many Counties in Kenya ie Samburu & Laikipia to the North, Kajiado,Narok to the South West. This is about 20%-25% of Kenya. THIS ARTICLE REQUIRES MORE RESEARCH.
