You have taught me so much Aidin. Just appreciate how much of your knowledge that you share. Your insights are like the layers of an onion... so much depth. So with that.. I have been dreaming for months of a video we would create from the Redwoods in Northern Cali... finally had that chance, and your fingerprints are all over our work. I hope that you can feel the weight of our compliment, and find it an honor that you have influenced our work so positively. It’s an honor to learn from you. Can’t thank you enough man.
Hue vs. Luma is an excellent tool but its also the most destructive of the HSL curves if not used properly. Keep your anchors wide and be careful pushing it too far with 8 bit footage.
Awesome my color grading has already benefitted from your other xolor grading videos so I'm stoked to add this to my arsenal! It's surprising how much you can rescue a shot and make it beautiful with the curves and hsl
Aidin all of your videos are absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous. You’re seriously an amazing talent and your work consistently breaks boundaries and proceeds to impress. So glad I found you back when you first made your Lumix 25mm f1.7 review and super glad I’ve stuck round. Keep it up 🖤🖤
Dang that sunrise was incredible! I would not have even thought once on using this effect, thanks for the insight, this tool will definitely be used in my workflow from now on!
As always, you produce excellent informative tutorials and insight into you work. Very inspiring. I’m a DaVinci Resolve user and while I’m no pro and still learning, I started using HVL about 6 months ago. I find it great to darken straw coloured dry grass, and control the red/orange of clothing, footwear etc. - keep up the great work.
DaVinci Resolve user here. I definitely use the luminance controls for video as much as I also use it in Lightroom and Luminar (for photos). I use them creatively just like I do for hue shifts to get the look I want.
bro I could not remember your name for nuthin!! lol and I was working on a film needing inspo. so why I just rendered out and I get this notification.. My man... had to pause the render.
Nice one. I wish I'd seen this video before I started playing with the HvL slider! I went through all the problems you described lol. Thanks for sharing 👍
The hue vs luma is a very powerfull for color the problem is that if use it too much on a 8bit codec is going to create some crazy artifact that make the footage impossible to use, but if used on 10bit or more is awesome
I'm always tweaking the hue vs Luma control, coming from a photography background I'm used to adjusting colour luminosity in Lightroom so it felt natural to apply the same method to video. Reducing luminosity on foliage is something I do often.
I was about to say the same thing - coming from photography and retouching - it was one of the first things I went to, after basic adjustments. HSL is so much more flexible in Premiere than in Lightroom, yet also so much more temperamental and less forgiving. I found it takes a bit of time to adjust.
I've been doing this using the HSL section (the one before Vignette). I like how flexible it is but it does make you increase the instances of Lumetri on your effects controls panel per clip or adjustment layer. Really dope tutorial.
This is a great video Aidin. Loved the beginning time lapse.. Looked like a great location to be filming in also. Thank you for the tip on colour grading. Im going to be putting it to some good use when editing my next video. Really interesting and helpful. Well explained. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Aidin... You're amazing at what you instruct. And I want to say you take the time and effort to SHOW your acumen within the production value of the videos you make. Which makes me trust you. I'm looking to try the Monday trial from your link, though I was hoping I could get your templates for your workflow if you're willing to share. Much appreciated. - Brian
are you shooting log in these edits? perhaps is just the SUUUUPER dry times in Texas, but the greens in my back yard aren't even recognized on my dropper...
Nice video as always!! Could you maybe do a video on how to export the colors correctly in Premiere so they are not washed out? I often have the problem that I spent tons of hours on grading and in the end the colors never turn out the same in the export.
