imagine an entire Dwarven army marching out of the gates singing/screaming this being lead by their war hogs and their kings! No wonder the dwarves were feared warriors!
Tolkien did construct a dwarfish language. Examples of it pop up in several instances in his books. Mostly when they talk about their ancestor Durin. Be glad he didn't choose an orchish song, that would be even more terrifying. 😅
Now I want to hear a Dwarvish version of "Blunt the knives and bend the forks" (About which, I once saw a Tumblr post positing that this was a Dwarf kids' song that everybody learned, and they'd sing it to tease each other while clearing the table)
Ha! As soon as I saw you were reacting to this I thought "This man is NOT ready for what he is about to hear! He will probably end up a quivering wreck." Somehow I don't think I was too far off with that thought! If I remember correctly there is some "Dwarvish" language used by Tolkein in the books, which I guess this is based on, but it's been a long time since I read them so I could be wrong. Colm is such a surprising vocalist, going from his lilting Irish folk songs to pure demonic growling and screaming - he can cover just about anything and I love his vocals in all their forms. He has done a cover of this with Jonathan Young and Peyton Parrish (it's on JY's channel) where he uses both his more normal range and his deep, dark tones. I love that version but, if you're not into the very heavy, growling and screaming type of vocals it's probably not something you would react to - must admit, though, that I would love to see your face when you hear Jonathan's opening verse..... 😂
Each “race” in LoTR has a fully fleshed out language with phonetics, alphabets, writing structure, and even dialects in some cases, its rather impressive, but very few people have “learned” them to This extent
Colm is a stonking musician. E'en from the start of Colm Singing, your facial expressions are something else and very entertaining. Heh his breaking you is hilarious, Colm's forehead is something else. Your reactions get even more enjoyable as the song goes on (waterbottle). Exhausting, nah that was energising. I love your plethorae of gobsmacked expressions throughout the song. Edit: From memory there is a Tolkien Dwarven lexicon somewhere. Edit 2: I cannae like something I've already liked as that would unlike it sadly.
He did you dirty having you react to this one. Then again... Colm did us all dirty with this one. I never even... _wondered_ what screamo would sound like in Dwarvish. I did it even worse for myself, in that I watched this video _right_ before watching VoicePlay's In The Air Tonight. I didn't think that one through that day.
Awesome, don't get to see Colm reactions much. I love just how many vocal styles he can pull off and sound great. His latest rendition of Be Prepared is fantastic. His voice oozes menace as Scar.
Mortius, all I can say is that I just simply love you man. You have the BEST reactions to just about everything and that's why I keep coming back. especially love the small high pitch scream when he got to the scream singing section heh. Please, never change :0).
The best way I can describe Colm's voice is like Eric Hollaway's super insane bass, Marwan's beautiful middle range, and Jonathan Young's rock notes and also Colm's irish accent of course 😂
One day i want to use this rendition for a 6 part boss battle in d&d, have a boss start talking to them, once they attack or run out of speech a calm combat begins, collected, but melancholic, they force them to become somewhat serious, start battling with purpose, they stage 3 and go full rage, only to fall… but, right as they think its over, the fallen boss begins to speak calmly to them once again. Round 2. New form. Stage 1-3, but in a new, much more horrid form. After it ends, seemingly with an abrupt cutoff, they are left wondering, “are they really gone this time” only to feel the mountain breathe
I just think you are not ready (and yes I dare you to make a reaction) for his and Jonatan Youngs metal cover of I see fire. It is awesome and the only thing, thats missing, is The one and only Geoff.
Yes i would be fun to see Mortius react to both "I See Fire" and "Misty Mountains" with Jonathan - but I think he would be totally broken by the end of that!!
If you haven't seen it yet, you should try "Irishman sings a beautiful ballad". That's the name of the video not the song obviously. It makes me sad that I play video games for entertainment, not sit around a table with family and friends.
Just imagine what this would sound like with a whole choir of dwarves. Or at least a bunch of guys with great voices. The scream part would straight kill a man sitting in the front row.
Ahahaha - I was afraid you might hurt yourself listening to this, glad you made it! 🤓 Colm's voice is unique & well-suited to this, but it bugs me no end that the vocal track doesn't QUIIIIITE sync with the visuals.... 🤨 JRR Tolkien spent DECADES constructing intricate social, political, geographic, economic, & (most of all) linguistic worlds for each of the races mentioned in his stories, encompassing thousands of years in some cases. His languages often featured both distinctive written forms & thorough notes on vocabulary & pronunciation! JRR's notes were many, MANY times as long as all his published works.... 😯
WOW, a wonderful performance, yet reading this section of the story, I think the song was done as more reflective then “war like” (even though Dwarves were rather direct, and no nonsense people.), they had their moments of somberness. The song starts perfectly, but gets a little to angry. Love the interpretation of Dwarvish, it also sounds somewhat like “Dragon-speak”. (Forgive my love and obsession with Lord of the Rings.)
Noticed your wish to have an acapella one shot. If you have connection with Cesar de la Rosa, then you have your connections. Voiceplay and Home Free have a close relationship. It should be easy for de la Rosa to contact Home Free to reach Adam. Elizabeth the Charismatic Voice has interviewed Tim of Home Free and Geoff of Voiceplay. All these people are interconnected because the acapella world is rather small. Also, they all apparently share a common interest in D and D. Adam is a huge fan of D and D. You have nothing to lose. Go for a.
Your reactions are always a treat to watch. 🥰 I would like to make a suggestion (or two or three) that are outside your usual reaction theme, but i think you would love them and would love to see your reaction. From Sub Radio, a couple of thier parody covers. First, Bi Bi Bi ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MKVtlGI1-fM.html ). Then they also did a peice of Pride Parade (I don't think they've done the whole thing, just a TikTok-length snippet), and the one that first got me hooked was Stacy's Dad. I Don't Wanna Dance With Nobody is also ~brilliant~. I just...really want to see your reaction to Bi Bi Bi, even if its just "i listened/watched on my own and that was hysterical" with no official reaction vid from you.
Here I am thinking I need to get in tight with Kevin, I want to get a song in front of Mortius but I feel that my comments suggesting it would be lost in the flood and never be seen.
I find this a bit terrifying, actually. Colm normally looks like such a nice clean-cut young man. Here, he's someone I definitely do not want to meet in an alley (dark or otherwise).
It’s funny, the comment I see directly under yours reads as follows. “Your analysis was spot on. Simple but at the same time complex - without one over the other.” So, nah, I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing. Because most people actually understand and appreciate it! I hope you can learn how to appreciate good analysis too; otherwise, I hope you find a channel that fits your preferences, and leave a positive comment on theirs instead of a weird one on mine. Thank you 😊
