Nice. You see these a lot in Yemen during Friday prayers or any large gathering where people will be sitting around. I thought it was pretty clever and was surprised at how comfortable they are. They really do ease back strain. Again, nice.

Yes. Traditional use during prayer and yoga type environments. I remember I tried one year ago on vacation and couldn't believe how comfy it was. So I whipped one up when I got home.

I've been loving the strap and have used it for sitting around camp and reading before bed.

Awesome to hear man. It's such a quirky thing, but man it really works. Hope you're well dude.

Got a piece of webbing just asking to make one of this for POC. It may seem good but the TRUTH is in the sitting. Thanks

I'm leaving for a 3 week expedition in the arctic today...and it's coming with me. Trust me, it will save your back if you don't have a real chair.

Men! Everyone is so creative 😂 I learned something everyday 😅 Thank you 😊 if the strap is long enough maybe can tie to a tree😅😅😅

You're welcome. I believe it was invented by a female though, I just made an ultralight version of what is essentially an ancient technique.

Great idea! I directly made one for myself. Not as light as yours (80grams), but with a 20cm wide non slipping backrest and an 4cm strap and Buckle.(the stuff laying around. Perfect for my three day Bikepacking trip tomorrow!!

Awesome. If you can rig it up yourself with items you already have, all the better. Have fun out there.

Wow.. that works amazingly well! (had an old adjustable strap from some bag lying around.. it's a bit narrow but nevertheless .. wow)
@Suluk46

Yep, just need a bit of support to take the pressure off the back. Anything you have available will work, heck even a long sleeve shirt tied around you 😂

Very cool, is the UL version more of a pain then its worth for the 36grams? I need to grab some of your 8" stakes and would drop one of these guys into the cart as well.
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 Год назад
There is no performance difference between the Standard and UL version. Same buckle, but the UL version has the lightest 2" webbing I could find, and it's very expensive. I mean, as long as you don't lose it, it will last your lifetime.
@luvinfunvan

@@Suluk46 10-4 your write up suggested that the UL version slipped more easily which is what I was referring too. Sounds like a it’s not that big of a deal. Thanks!

This is what I call a "CrapStrap". And as I type that, I hear you say "Poopstrap", lol.

Great concept, I have a few fused vertebrae, I wonder this would support or cause pain.

I can't be certain, but I have had a bad back since I was in my 20's and this literally saves me when I get to camp. Just a little bit of support to take the weight off does wonders for me when sitting around.

Any comparison to the Litesmith chair at the same weight that has a real back on it? I'm assuming the Litesmith could allow the back to relax into it more than this, but the compact size here is appealing.
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 Год назад
Tough to compare as it is a totally different product. I used to make one similar years ago, it's not that I didn't like it, just not as convenient or fast as this and you really are limited to using it on the ground. If you watch any of my trip videos, I use it on logs and rocks often when I am eating. And it allows you to totally relax without slipping down.

you come up with some crazy shit, Steve....and I love it. I've ditched the camp chair for the reasons you mentioned in the video, so this is an interesting idea. Gonna have to check it out! 👊🏼

Mock something up and give it a try. I never intended to actually make it a product, I made my own years ago and still use it to this day. Works very well.

Very cool. How would you use as a poop strap?
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 Год назад
Just like any other. Wrap it around a tree or similar object and then lean back into the strap. You'll never break the webbing.
@JoeZelensky

Is it possible to make the buckles out of aluminum or steel?
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 Год назад
I mean, anything is possible. It would be heavier, but more robust. What ya thinking?
@JoeZelensky
@JoeZelensky Год назад
@@Suluk46 more robust. Could be skeletonized. Used aluminum Fastex in the Army and they held crazy weight.
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 Год назад
Good to know. On the current version, the buckle will let go before the strap breaks. Will look into it.

Ancient technique. Just using modern materials. I certainly didn't invent the Gomthag or Padma seat.
