This video actually triples some people’s watch time. You’ve got the double from watching the video at half speed and then you’ve got people rewatching at normal speed to hear how silly it sounds. GENIUS
Man, exactly. All those other videos, the people are just speaking so slow. I always watch them at 2x speed. This one, so much easier. I didn't have to click anything, they spoke as fast as normal people do.
Jokes on you, spiff. I watched the video at full speed and understood all of it. You didn't double your watch time, you doubled my tea drinking efficiency. I managed my typical 2 cups per spiffing brit video in a record setting one minute and eleven seconds.
Omg eso I was just on your page. Bro thank you for all the hard work. I play Skyrim on switch plz do a collaboration with spiff and break Skyrim on my switch plz
@@lop1652 Same, I almost always watch in ×1.25 or ×1.5. Interestingly, when watching this in ×0.75 I didn't feel much audio quality drop (while in ×0.5 I did.)
This is something I've always hated about how they count watch time. I always watch videos on fast speed. But even if I watch the entire thing, it basically punishes the creator even if it's good enough for me to watch the whole thing. Makes no sense.
Wouldn't it be a good idea if creators just upload their videos at 1.5x Speed so that is fast watchers are still fine with the speed but slow watchers just turn down playback speed so the watchtime increases.
@@bunnington1187 No you don't, a rule can exist and you can break it without knowing it thus the phrase "Ignorance of the Law is No Excuse" exists and so many have fallen before this same issue too. And a lot of em were sentenced to death before they even knew the law... if you don't believe me then please refer to the laws of physics :D
Yup, it worked. GG on breaking the algorithm. (Here at 656k) To the viewers reading this comment, now play the video back a 2nd time to get 400% WATCH TIME for the price of 200%!
The only thing Spiff hasn't realized about this is that most people aren't watching 200% of the video. We're watching 300% of this video. After all, who wouldn't want to see funni tea glitch man speak in 2x speed?
Since I could understand everything at normal speed, I've realized I could potentially watch all your normal videos at 2x speed and save myself some time!
Yeah, as someone who watches all videos sped up (depending on creator/video sometimes even more than 2x) this was easy to watch on normal speed. It's only about getting used to it!
I watched it at full speed to see if I could follow along, then watched it at 0.5x speed to get the intended experience. You, chap, just got 300% viewership out of me.
He didnt get 300%. If you watched the first normal, then its 100% and the second in half speed its 200% So you got 2 views for 300%. In average, he got 150% on your views. So by watching it double but once normal, you actually made the statistic worse
@@PadrinoGian So, I guess we need to watch the video a whole bunch more times on double speed to get the 200% now. On the other hand it will always be a 199.99..%. Can't get the 200% anymore. 😱
I love how everyone's bragging that they watched it normal and how the jokes on him. Not realising that by commenting they are directly helping this video grow
The trick is, after watching at half speed, me, and probably a lot of people wonder; "how would this sound like in normal speed?", and that's 300% watch time
I did the reverse cus I usually watch at x2 speed but kept it at normal cus I knew he'd do something weird...then got curious if it sounded okay at half speed cus normally that messes the audio up. The audio is generally wonky in comparison to normal x2 speed viewing on YT but hey, now I know!
Actually, this video will probably get near 300% watchtime, since most people will rewatch the video from the beginning to see how it sounds at normal speed. Spiff you absolute legend.
This is genius for 2 reasons: not only does it break the algorithm, but it also creates rewatchabilty by insentivising viewers to watch at at half speed AND regular speed to compare the differences.
@@youtubespy9473 It's easier for native speakers, but I'm not one and don't listen English everyday and I can understand even on 1.75x (2x is too fast for me, just need to spend more time hearing on that speed), but I do watch videos on 2x in my native language everyday, so it probably helps. This is something anyone can do in any language that they understand in "normal speed", it's just practice. Some blind peoples, for example, uses the smartphone/computer screen reader on a very fast setting, way faster than the 2x in this video, and they can understand it easily. Our brains get used very fast to this, it is very impressive I would say.
Sorry Spiff. I defied you and watched at normal speed. I've spent years as a college student watching teachers on 2x speed. Watching this is nothing. I'll still share it though even if I'm not giving you that 200% watch time.
I'd say "jokes on you, I understood everything at normal speed!" But really, the jokes on me. Because either way, you made me watch the video regardless as well as many others. Well played good sir.
Watching this at 2x speed sounds like a person listing off all the side effects and tells you to contact your doctor before using the medication shown in a commercial.
Did you know, that is apparently only allowed in the US? Apparently most of the rest of the world sees it as "selling drugs on TV"...Which is illegal in most places. But the US, being a capitalist society realized "Capitalism makes people ill. Ill people don't make money. People who make no money are bad for capitalism. Drugs help people not be ill. Drugs can be sold for money. So we would be making people spend money to not be ill, so that they can become less ill, and make us even more money! We should sell this on TV!" While that is messed up sounding. Few will deny the truth of the statement.
Not only he outsmart RU-vid by forcing people to watch it twice but he also speaks not too quickly in order to make proud people brag on the comment section about how they had been able to understand the video in 1x speed, increasing the numbers of comments (abnormally higher than on usual videos with the same views) and thus the algorithm happiness. It was all part of the plan, good job.
@BCFilmss it boosts the vid with the algorithm with all these comments/replies youtube says it must be a good/relevant video and pushes it onto people's suggested vids.

Yup, I understood it just fine. I then felt the need to comment. Here I am commenting. Now I will watch it as he recommended to see the difference, so that I push his metrics. When I watch old 60s and 70s bad b-movies on RU-vid, I almost always watch at x1.25 speed and sometimes x1.5. I wouldn't do that to great cinema, but Cousin Bobby's $5000 horror movie, starring his cousins, and set in the woods out back of the neighbor's barn, is fine to speed up. A lot of movies back them had a languid relaxed pace that my modern sensibilities find tiresome.
The cool thing about doing a video like this is that someone who usually watches videos at 2x speed can watch it normally and not feel bad about taking away watch time.
The only reason why you can just watch the video at normal speed is because Spiff pronounces the words so clearly that even if the video is sped up you can totally tell what he's saying regardless.
I can actually still understand him at 1.5× the speed (not as much in 1.75× speed, but I can still vaguely hear him). Bro really does just talk so clearly.
@@bread9132 why do you feel so insignificant that you had to say that. This guy is doing something special because speaking clearly is not a common thing, sometimes it’s the editing, sometimes it might be a speech disorder, sometimes it can be the speakers second language, and sometimes it’s just the way people talk Also, 2x speed is nothing to brag about, if there’s smth that’s the most common, is watching stuff in 2x
I have never seen nor heard of this man and I was randomly recommended this video two hours after it was posted. This man is a genius it actually worked.
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't slow down the video. I have been abusing the fact that holding down on a touch screen tablet activates ×2 speed for months now. I was able to watch this as if I was watching a normal video at ×2.
I hate that I’ve only read the title and I already know what shit Spiff’s up to this time, but I’m still going to watch it anyway and love every two seconds. Don’t stop being you, Spiff
John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This man not only got double the watch time for the algorithm. But also gets many people to comment how many views the video had. Making it even better. He is on a whole other level.
But also don't underestimate the number of people watching it three* times once at 0.5 and one more time at normal to see if they can understand the dubbletime.
Ironically, this is the first time in a good while RU-vid has recommended a Spiffing Brit video to me, despite how much I love the exploits you get up to in funny prison video games and whatnot.
Same here, I enjoyed watching those video but forget to subscribe because they were on my page when I needed it. But It's bit a quite long time since I saw a video of him until now. Well, now I learn my lesson and subscribe right away. ^^'
Still a worthy watch at 0.25x. Spiffing Brit sounds like a stoned robot, and it's hilarious. EDIT: Also, Spiff, congrats on gaining the ability to hack reality. I knew it was only a matter of time.
It it's a talk video I usually set it on 1.25. With this one I obliged, just to break Googles algorithms some more, because they are totally broken already.
Being able to understand that at normal speed has only taught me one thing. It's time to catch up on all videos by watching at 2x speed and only giving half a view.
This has only been up for 7 hours by the time I comment this and the viewer count... Spiff can truly exploit anything. From Games to Steam to RU-vid, next he will exploit life itself
If you want to make this video blow up again, set the video to .25 speed mute it, right click on the player, and turn on loop. AFK for an hour and you've watched it 400% of the way 13 times in a row.
So, it's finally happened...Spiff has broken the laws of space and time. At last, we can now say that time itself is perfectly balanced with no exploits whatsoever.
Damnit! I've always wnated to exploit time, but Spiff has ensured us that there is absolutely no exploits whatsoever and the devs have given us a perfectly balanced system.
never before has there been a man with such single minded purpose and devotion to exploiting EVERYTHING. it is inspiring dear God I watched it again at 2x speed
