W works for AP Voli because it applies your passive, giving it a 50% AP ratio once your passive is stacked up. That's right 50%, and 70% with Nashor's. Plus, it auto-procs lich bane if you choose to buy that, it counts as a spell cast, and then it applies the on-hit effect.
