Mazzuccheli is a bone-fide genius, one of the greatest figurative artists in any medium, ever, IMHO. Was going to spring for this in the Artist’s edition on the secondary market and pay an arm and a leg for it, but then they announced the Batman Year One Artist Edition so I’ve pre-ordered that masterpiece and am ordering this edition of his Daredevil run. Your observations on the line quality perhaps being a metaphor for Matt’s decline throughout the story are pretty sharp too, thanks for sharing this and helping me decide to spend even more money 😂. Man Miller and Mazzucchelli, it don’t really get any better than that does it?
Thank you for sharing this. I just finished this book and thought the art was so immaculate, the colors hold it back in a way and should be realized in its true B&W original form.....and here we are. it's so good to see this, David's work reminds me of Alex Toth almost, not too much, not too little but the goldilocks zone of rendering, its like he was a granted a wish to make the perfect book and this is it. Both he and Miller directed a film on paper. I will buy this edition for sure. Thanks again!
Ok I like this video so from a penciler and inker to then a colorist. How does a colorist know what steps to take, in choosing what colors go on a page of art work? should be for another topic
I really wish IDW would pick up production on printing other Artisan editions like that. I love the larger books, but it's a whole 'ordeal' to get them from a different shelf, and get it out of the box and put it on a table big enough to accommodate this huge book. The smaller Artisan editions by contrast are great to have near the table to grab up and look through quickly and easily. I've got this DD book you're featuring and the Simonson Thor. I wish they'd do an Artisan of the Byrne X-men or the Sienkiewicz book. Both of the larger editions of those have been sold out for a few years now.

@@chuckgibson3973 Oh, they have that one as a artisan edition?! I'll have to look for it. I passed up a copy of the artist's edition for $50 a few years ago at a used bookstore. I kick myself till this day for doing that!
@@thomaspitilli -- It's not an official 'artisan'. They have the small regular print edition, which is about magazine size, but I think is missing some of the material of the larger artist edition. I'm not sure. I don't have either one. Too many books at my age...
