Bass fishing in the fall can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a source of frustration depending on weather and water conditions. That's why it's always good to have several tricks up your sleeve in order to convince those finicky bass to bite. A wacky rig is a great way to do that and in this video we'll cover some easy ways to coax those reluctant bass into biting even when they aren't in the mood. And I'll also give out my super secret trick for times when the bass fishing is really a grind! #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips

@@ReelRobFishing When it's super windy, I'm probably going to have a chatterbait or spinnerbait tied on to start and see what happens from there. If those fish are active, a hard jerkbait can also be a great choice, even from the bank. Those work all year long.

@@LowBrowFishingWhat's a good Jerkbait to throw from the bank?
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 7 месяцев назад
@@ReelRobFishing There are quite a few options, but I'd start with something simple like a Rebel Minnow. They are a great budget lure and are quite effective. I'm also quite fond of the Yozuri 3DB. No need to get fancy with it.

I've used a wacky rig on a dropshot it works great. Faster retrieve in warmer weather works. Letting dropshot sit 3 to 5 seconds then tap handle. Let it sit 3 to 5 seconds lift rod tip a couple inches let it fall. Then let it sit 3 to 5 seconds tap handle let it sit. Then 1 last time lift rod tip a few inches. If no bites slow drag an reel a couple inches let it sit repeat pattern. I usually don't do this pattern no more than 3 to 4 times max. Working this all the way back to you. If it's really hot longer pauses between tapping handle and lifting rod tip just a couple inches. 5 to 12 seconds when it's really hot or cold. In warmer or hot weather a 8 inch leader works. Generally no more than a 16 leader. In the fall I use an 18 to 24 inch leader max. More than 24 inches it's harder to cast.

A wacky worm is just such a great setup. I use it all the time. It took me years to be able to be patient enough but when I got that part down I caught so many more fish than I ever thought I could.

A good one for sure! For years I used an insert tube head as my weighted wacky setup. A low-budget option for me at the time. We headed to highs in the 40s next week. Yikes!

I learned in a weird way today, cast my wacky rig out and the line on my reel went wonky. Took me an extra 30sec to pull it straight and then bam, theres the bass!

I've caught more fish than I can count when I was picking out a backlash. Those fish want it really slow sometimes and I can be too impatient to wait, lol!

For years I’ve actually done this same thing- cut the ends of a worm to get “tentacles” but I do it to one end and throw it on a shakey head and you’re right- idk what it is about it but it gets bit. I’ve thought of doing it to both sides and wacky rigging it but I have no reason to ruin my baits -yet- as the wacky rig on a senco just never fails when I’m jones’n for a bite

Great video, I am new to your channel and really enjoy the content. I’m going to try a 1/32 pegged weight above the hook and fished it Wacky style. It should work well in windy conditions also.

I have a tendency to use a necko rig more than whacky style I just have more confidence with it , maybe I just need to try a little more and stick with it and I have not had much luck with a jig head.
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 7 месяцев назад
A neko is a great technique for sure! Sometimes it can be hard to fish a wacky because of how slow you have to go. Things like line type and hook size really matter since you don't have much weight with it. I know I can get too impatient at times.

@LowbrowFishing what are your must have lures for newer people to bass fishing who bank fish?
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 7 месяцев назад
Oh, that's easy...Texas rigged stickbait is at the top of the list. A wacky rig or a jig is a close second. Those work great from the bank!

Would a medium spinning rod or medium casting rod work ?
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 7 месяцев назад
Sure, if that's what is more comfortable for you to use. If you noticed, I use a spinning combo for working a jerkbait and that has a medium power rod.
