People are saying that Warner Leisure Hotels are just like cruise ships. I spent the weekend at Heythrop Park to see how true that is.
Ad - I was invited by Warner, but these views are 100% my own.

I agree with you, that if you don’t want to go abroad but like cruises, then Warners might be worth a go. We’ve been to several! We stayed in a suite in the Manor House at Heythrop last October and like your room, it was beautiful (and had a separate sitting room)! It was 33 steps to get upstairs to the rooms though, in the Manor House, and there was no lift… Like others have said, though, it is far too big a property if you have mobility issues - there’s no easy way to get from the Manor House to other parts of the site if you can’t easily walk up and down stairs - the easiest way is to go outside, but that’s only good if the weather is fine! The food was delicious, but to dine in the restaurant of your choice, you have to book early! I don’t think I’d want to stay at Heythrop again - pretty much all of the entertainment was at the other end of the hotel and it would have been nice to have some events, like talks or tastings, in the Manor House (there was nothing when we were there). Cricket St Thomas had similar issues with distance to the dining/entertainment when we were there - it’s a choice you have to make; beautiful, historic rooms, or proximity to where ‘the action’ is. But there are many Warner hotels that are super and you don’t have to worry that the nicest entertainment, etc., is too far away to walk to. I thoroughly enjoy Warners and if I can’t go on a cruise, I find that Warners is a great alternative!❤️

Warner hotels are great I use them often (as well as cruising) but not Heythrop Park as yet. But they are not cheap, in Sept 23 the Superior Room type featured will be between £1336 - £1736 for four nights. Stunning, absolutely, but a little above me.

For 2 people? You can find deals for about £100/night which is similar to a cruise and the food alone is worth at least £50 of that.

to me the key of the thing is that isn't at sea... stunning indeed, but not our thing, even if we can get it cheaper than the prices you found....

I was looking forward to this video since seeing you posted about this place on Instagram - I'm hearing such good things about this chain! Whilst I appreciate the cruise ship link, that room doesn't look overly similar to my usual inside cabin on Deck 2... Haha! Great video :)

Haha yes I agree, the room is nothing like a cruise ship. But the overall experience is pretty similar.

@@cruisemummy not really our thing, as I mentioned in my comment above, I think this is a marketing/publicity trick. to attract people in an industry recovering from a wide world pandemic that almost killed society and weakened the tourism industry, cruises being not what they used to be, even way before pandemic, because resorts of this kind have existed for at least half of my life (and I am over 60!!! LOL) a great place, but give me the sea life any time over this :)

Jenni, I totally agree with you. Anyone enjoys cruises must like Warner’s also. Have you checked Tom and Dom’s Heythrop vid? I‘ve never been there but on a mission to complete my annual Warner’s crawl. I couldn’t go any of them in some years but a few more left. I used to visit 1 every Twixmas but my employer/s has/have banned hols in the festive period. So I‘ve decided to go there around my birthday by Shearings’ coach. Will get to Nidd Hall next week. I got to your site (and here) through the Cruise Critic boards, someone posted a link., I signed up for your email list, refreshing to see a young Brit woman running a service like this :) Now, about this hotel. Is great, but is not a ship ... our land holidays are to go for history, local food, exploring the cities.... we have taken 5 stars resorts holidays that have exactly the same (some even better, but this was over 10 years ago) but our idea of a land holiday isn't the resort type (which this plainly is) I don't think you can really "see" or learn much about the cities you stop in ports during a` cruise, but what we love is life at sea... so, maybe this kind of hotel is great for others, not for us, but thank you for. great review, I'm of to read at the site (yours!)

Far too big, such a long way to get to entertainment and spa place was absolutely Freezing and Manager nowhere to be found. LANDED UP with an oil filled Radiator with cables all across the living area floor ,no Heating working. So far to walk outside to get to spa, ridiculous. Everywhere Freezing people sitting in there quilted coats to watch shows, not worth the costs.

I went to Studley Castle. Miles to walk anywhere. Room was just like yours but two floors up with no lifts or porters. Also found as a solo, all old couples there. No solo get togethers or table sharing and I felt far too young and out of place

You'd be surprised. You can find deals for about £100/night, which is great value considering it includes food, activities and entertainment.
