This Was Completely Unexpected!! Susan Boyle (Britains Got Talent 2009 Episode 1) Reaction 

Susan came in second place, got a record deal, has released 7 albums so far that has sold a total of over 25 million copies worldwide, 250 million streams and she's got more than 650 million hits on RU-vid, and counting. Her story is certainly a hope for many that dreams do come true. Thank you for reacting to this!

Susan still lives in the house she grew up in, with all her family, she also paid her struggling brothers mortgage. She is the most talented down to earth person I've ever met. ❤️

A lesson for all to not judge a book by its cover

Being a rocker a metalhead and a rap lover and I still get the chills listening to her!

She spent all her years taking care of her parents, with all that talent held in. I imagine they loved hearing her then and now she is a star, still living in her village. This always makes me so happy to watch.

as of 2022 she now has 8 albums out and is worth 40 million dollars, but still lives in her little village in Scotland. THIS was a HUGE example of "don't judge a book by it's cover." You don't have to be young, slim and gorgeous to be a FANTASTIC singer. It seems that women get judged on that more than male singers. By the way, it was Simon Cowell who signed her to a record deal not long after this show.

This performance makes me cry every time I see it, not because of it being so good (which it was) but because she's 47 and never been given the chance to showcase her talent. Her God given talent shouldn't have been hidden away for 47 years and not shared with the world. People are so damn judgmental regarding looks, age or other superficial reasons which prevented her from sharing her gift, which makes me incredibly sad. I'm so glad she was given a chance to perform and did so well. She deserves everything great for the rest of her life.

Everyone saw a plump, frumpy, middle-aged woman and were laughing up their sleeves, then she wowed them with her beautiful vocals. A great moment.

I cry every time I see this clip. People were laughing, rolling their eyes, and just so rude to her. She put them in their place. I hope humanity learns from this and people stop judging others. She put her life on hold to take care of her sick Mother and sacrificed her years for her. When she finally decides to try and make her dreams come true she is treated like this. For shame people! Show some kindness and compassion for others.

I love Simon's face, first when Susan walks out, then when she sings that first line. His eyes open wide. And then near the end, he looks like he's in love. Piers reaction being shocked by what he was hearing.

My god, the bravery needed to walk out on the stage knowing you've got what it takes if you can rock this moment - - still gives me goosebumps....

I remember watching this episode and it left me in tears,I was shocked like most of the UK was when she was runner up, but now look at her ,how fantastic, how beautiful and how famous she is.

She has raised the level of humanity.

I can't listen to her sing this without tears in my eyes. I've been listening to RU-vid a long time and she's my absolute favorite person to listen to. She reaches your soul with that beautiful heartfelt voice. God bless her. I hope she gets all the good things in life she deserves. She's a wonderful person. 💞💞💞🎶 🎶 🎶

I remember watching Susan come on stage & the reaction of the audience & even the judges. She was amazing & showed them all - with her fabulous voice. Susan, lived with her mother and cared for her mother until the time of her death, which was only a short time before this audition. Susan's mother always believed in her daughter, but as it turns out, apparently Susan suffers from a disorder on the spectrum which sometimes effects her communication with other people. There is no doubting her pure talent and she went on after this audition to conquer the world, she had millions of sales of her album and was managed by Simon Cowell on the judging panel here

I listened to this audition a hundred times at least. Wow. She had a very surprising voice.

She knew this was going to be epic, backstage she said I'm going to blow their socks off, she knows she's a great singer. I love when the judges are shocked, and wrong. This was great, thank you!🥂

The night we watched this I was in tears. That next Christmas my son got me her first released CD. It's still in cellophane, unopened because it's not my type of music to run on a whole albums worth. Lol. She took care of her mother and stayed almost a hermit in doing so. She'd given up her dream of the big time and devoted to caregiver instead. Before you know it, life is past 40. She still believed in herself and others believed enough that now she's known worldwide in her genre of music but honestly the woman has proven she can sing almost anything.

Perhaps the best lesson to be derived here is that so many of us, there at the time, and millions more afterwards, were prejudicially cynical because Mrs. Boyle did not appear the most attractive. She proved us all wrong! She has a gift from God and, yet, we doubted her. It was wonderful to see her amazing talent evident with the very first note and how it continued to rise to incredible heights. It is good that we have been blessed by this valuable lesson and reminder that God's works are mysterious and we must not be so cynical or prejudicial and give thanks for such miracles.
