After arriving at the city of Lahore in Pakistan, all that we have been hearing about is the Wagha Attari border parade. This border is the only international border between Pakistan and India.
So, of course, we had to go and check it out. From what we have been hearing, it's basically a parade where India and Pakistan go head to head in a march off in order to keep peace between the two countries. This march off has been happening since 1959 and has remained a tradition ever since.
As soon as we arrived at the Pakistan Indian border, we were greeting with not only one but 5 security check points and a huge presence of the Pakistan army. This is typical for a border crossing, but we were just going to a parade.
Once we arrived, things started to get loud, with people cheering ZINDABAD, which means 'victory for Pakistan'. We could also see the Indian side of the border, and it has a huge theatre, filled with thousands of people who have come to see the parade.
The point of the ceremony is to open the border gate and lower the flags of the countries in order to show peace. It is so unique and a must do if ever in Lahore Pakistan.
