He performed this live for the first time at the grand ol Opry and could hardly contain himself walked off stage and told a friend he would never do it again, his friend encouraged him to never stop singing this because other parents needed to hear this

Ricky Skaggs told Craig, "that's a beautiful song", Craig replied with "well, I'm glad you got to hear it, 'cause I'll never do it again, I'll never be able to do it again". Ricky Skaggs grabbed him by the shoulders, and said "you have to sing this song, there are people that need to hear it, you have to do it". When he'd first finished writing the song he sent it to his buddy Blake, by text, when he finally got back to him a month later (life got in the way), he encouraged Craig to continue to sing it. Yes, Blake lost his brother.

I’m so glad you got to this one. I’ve been suggesting this to everyone once I found it. I’m glad some people still have it on their list to do because it’s such an amazing and impactful song. I wanted the world to hear it. I heard it the day it came out or when he first performed it. I don’t remember which came out first. But it’s Craig’s BEST ones and he’s got a bunch. Definitely in my top 5 male singers. ❤loved it! Thanks for pushing through for us. ❤

Thank you for the very articulate words, You are an amazing content creator. I lost The oldest of my 4 kids, He passed away in 2008 it’s been tough trying to block it out I volunteered to deploy to the Middle East thinking serving our country, it was a hard decision it didn’t help much, I feel I let my son down was I a good Father-what could have done better. This song has helped my heart..sorry for babbling on. He is in my heart forever. Thank you Sir.

I have come close to losing two of three of my sons. But by the love and grace of God he brought them through. I thank him everyday for his mercy. My heart and prayers go out to all the grieving parents. What a beautiful reaction Ray❤

man ive heard this song several times but this is my first time to hear it after i lost my son. He was stillborn April 16 of this year. he passed 13 days before i was supposed to be induced. 9lbs 10oz. Waylon Alexander. 💔 it’s the worst pain i have ever experienced.

Great reaction. My Mom has lost two children. In 09" my oldest brother (hers & my Dad's first born) passed away from an OD. He was only 39 yrs old! Yesterday was his 15 yr angelversary. In 2021 my sister passed away from Alcoholism. She was only 51. Unfortunately, our Dad was murdered in 2012. My Mom & Dad had four kids. Now, there's only me & my baby brother. My brother is an addict and refuses to talk to me. I feel so bad for my Mom because he hardly calls her. It breaks her heart for me because he won't talk to me. I call my Mom every day twice a day and talk to her. I can tell you,without a shadow of a doubt,if she didn't have her faith , she wouldn't be with us herself!

I appreciate what you said about doing something to farther damage the family. A friend told me his brother accidentally ran over his little child with his truck and a couple months later put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. I can’t imagine the pain, but his family needed him to be there. I truly don’t know what I would have done

Damn UNC, this is a deep one. Never lost a child, but I Lost some of the guys in my unit over in the sand. It fucked me up pretty bad for a long time. I really liked what you said about we will see each other again. There's a saying I don't know who said it first but we definitely said it a lot, too many damn times if I'm honest, which is "We don't say goodbye; we just say see you later". I know I'll see all my brothers again one day, and God I got no clue what I would do if I lost my baby girl. When j get home from work today, I'm definitely going to give her an extra special hug. Then I'll hug the old lady pretty tight too. I always appreciate your reactions, definitely the funny stuff, but the more serious stuff as well.

I lost my Son on 8/5/23 he was 28 and he left behind a 4yr old Son and a 7mo old daughter. I have not been the same since that day. This Song is so hard to hear I feel his pain. RIP ROBBIE FOREVER 28😢

I’m so sorry for the loss of your son. Your comment tugged at my heart-I lost my daughter two weeks after she turned 20 in 2019. She died suddenly by accidental overdose. I’ll never be the same either. Almost 5 years and I’m still broken.

My husband and I lost our premature son when he just over 10 hours old. In July he would have been 17. It’s a pain that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

Craig lives in a small town just outside of Nashville called Dickson Tennessee. In the first verse where he says the lights are shining bright downtown on the row and people want him to show them around. He's referring to Music Row and Broadway Street in downtown Nashville.
