One cool thing that gets unnoticed is when Po tells shifu he’s not hungry, it means he’s not upset. As mentioned by Oogway earlier in the movie, Po eats when he’s upset.
It’s part of Po’s arc of finding self worth. He finally is content with himself and not upset anymore. There’s a bunch of subtle symbolism in the film and this was undoubtedly intentional.
@@LooDoesStuff As much as I can respect that analysis because it's actually a pretty clever catch. I still think it's reading a bit too deep. Just my opinion though.
It's really not... That symbolism is basically in the forefront. Literally after the 5 disappear and po gives up, he's snacking on all the food he can, because he's upset. So it fits that after finding his way of doing things and being trained properly, he's not upset, ergo not hungry. Hell, it happened directly after :/ Now, squall from ff8 being dead the whole time, that's a stretch. >.> Just...throwing that in there.
“One often meets his destiny on the path he takes to avoid it”- Oogway. As Bryce points out at 15:04 (Points for paying attention, Bryce), if Shifu didn’t send the messenger, Tai Lung would never have gotten the feather to escape.
I love how all of the furious 5 have some kind of special trait for themselves. Monkey is very agile, Crane can fly, Tigress is very physically strong, Mantis is small and hard to hit, Viper is very fast and mobile. Po has his own special trait too which is being a tank, he can take tons of hits and still get back up.
Well the man IS adorable. He's also awesome, amazing, incredible, humble, funny, smart, kind, loyal, dependable, professional, hardworking, and all round fantastic human. So yeah.
These movies for me rank among the most beautiful animated movies ever. The art style, colors, animation and music is all top-tier. Definitely check out the full trilogy!
One detail that I really love is Po’s “I’m not hungry” after his dumpling fight with Shifu, because in the beginning Oogway told him “you eat when you are upset”, meaning he’s not upset anymore. Also, the message of teachers needing to learn to adapt to their students and their learning methods really resonated with me. Po just needed proper training in the way that works for him. He has the major advantage of having a big strong build and because of his extra fat in the way, nerve attacks can’t hit him. That’s one hell of an advantage! I love that he didn’t need to change himself during that montage, but rather learn how to use his advantages to his favor. I love that Jack Black really poured his heart into Po’s character and helped write it. You can feel the passion behind it.
I think that Kai was a better villain, while Shen was a better antagonist. If that makes sense. I think 1 has the best overall story, while 2 has the most heartfelt and 3 has the most wondrous. But man, 1s wuxi finger hold is the definition of a chekovs gun xD
That Finger Hold doesn't kill people it literally just sends you to the Spirit Realm. It legit just skips the murder part and goes straight to the end.
The thing I loved about this movie is that before this “3D” animated movies sort of all kept to the same 3D style and this one really was the first to treat the 3D as “film” and then put a layer SFX on top of that, and it really makes it pop.
Man i feel bad for tai lung tho, was told he was destined for greatness and trained his whole life only to be rejected and thrown away like trash in one moment. Many would be pissed if that happened to them like Tai lung
Being pissed is different from literally going mad without thinking Tigress didn't get to be dragon warrior but she got pissed just for few days and accepted it
@@Kookiepookie2025 Tigress is different in a number of ways, because unlike Tai lung, Tigress 1: Had friends to talk to as equals. 2: Had a life outside of Kung Fu to go to. And 3: Had memories to go to when feeling unhappy. Tai lung had literally nothing but the dragon scroll to look up to in life, and nobody but Shifu himself to talk to, and it's obvious even at the start of the movie that he doesn't have the mixture of caring and responsibility that a good parent needs.
@@Kookiepookie2025 Was tigress’s head filled with dreams from shifu her whole life? Was she told everyday that she was destined for greatness? She learned humility growing up by shifu whilst Tai lung never did because Shifu was too arrogant.
While I completely understand why Tai lung was upset. And justifiably should be. He still had no right to take it out on innocent villagers. Shifu was definitely in the wrong, that scroll was not his to give and he should never have guaranteed that it would be Tai lungs. tai lung definitely did not deserve that. But still, him attacking innocent villagers and terrorizing the town is what made him a bad guy.
The scene where Master Oogway chose Po I love because it's him completely open to what the universe put in front of him. He accepts that Po fell right where he pointed and took that at face value because THAT'S who the universe wanted.
It may sound strange, but Po's patchwork pants are an important detail: it shows that it is his nature - having to combine various moments together (like his love for food with fighting and his wish to learn kung fu with helping at the cafe) and trying to become "a whole"
The Chinese variant of the Preying mantis is pretty accurate in this movie. They can hold things that’s of hundreds times their weight and to flex they literally spin around just to show off.
your reactions are awesome, but I can't help but notice you left out some of the best parts of the film! I was dying to see how you guys would react to Po's speech about his self worth to Shifu, or Shifu finally saying sorry to Tai lung, and that chilling moment where for just a few seconds it looks like he might falter... AND you didn't react to Shifu and Oogway's fascinating conversation under the peach tree! I'd love to know what you thought of those parts!
What I love about these movies are the great lessons that are the main center piece of the movie. But there are small lessons built into it. Like how everyone learns differently and Shifu needed to figure out what it was for Po and what motivated which so happened to be food. I also love how Shifu got over his on flaws because everyone had these built up high standards on what the Dragon Warrior should be and look like. People had to tear down that idea because Po was never gonna be become. He already was. Fantastic movie. Can't wait to see you guys react to the other 2. 😊
if it hasn't been mentioned yet, the furious five represent real fighting styles used in southern chinese martial arts (crane, viper, monkey, mantis and tiger)
just started watching you guys, and this was the cutest reaction to this movie. i LOVE this movie! when it came out my son would watch it so many times that i could recite it as i washed dishes. you guys looked like little kids watching it. keep doing what you’re doing and please watch the other ones, i was a puddle of emotions for the third one.
Yes a classic that’s right one of the best if not the best animated trilogy ever they don’t make animated films like this anymore this brings back my childhood nostalgia loved the reaction
I completely misjudged you guys. I had an unfortunate diagnosis recently that's been really rough to process, and I was having a REALLY bad day the other day. I left a rude comment on one of your videos that day. I apologize, particularly to the guy in green on the left. You made a joke that, in hindsight, was obviously not serious but I took it seriously like a jerk. You probably (I hope) never even saw the comment but I just wanted to say sorry and that you guys are really cool. My issues are no excuse to take my pain or frustrations out on other people. The last thing I want is for other people to hurt too. Thank you for this reaction, you guys got me through a panic attack and by the end of the video I was actually enjoying myself.
Tai lung is one of my favorite villains. He not only is really cool but you really feel bad for him knowing how he became what he was, it was preventable yet tragic all together. Although I would have liked if he lived and eventually was able to cope It definitely wouldn't have been the same impactfully. I feel similarly about the villain of the second movie.
after this movie was made, Chinese officials sat down with animation companies and asked why a Western studio was able to make a better film representing their culture than they ever did
Little bit of lore shifu trained po for seven days and the reason he mastered so fast is because the water he used to wash his pits from the pool of sacred tears was magically connected to kung fu
I love how most people who watch this movie for the first time, never realize Mantis is Seth Rogen until he laughs. Like, that laugh is too noticeable! 🤣 Oh ye, and basically, Po sent Tai Lung to the shadow realm...
One detail that I like in this movie is the whole reason tai lung able to escape the prison was entirely because of shifu trying to prevent his escape. I'm not only talking about the feather, but also the guard stepping on tail lung's tail enabling it to move. Because tai lung was being held down by acupuncture needle.
"Shifu didn't teach you that" "Yeah, I figured it out" It's a common theme that Po is naturally gifted. In the show "Legends of Awesomeness", there was an episode where Po finally became better at kung fu than Tigress and she had to deal with that, and another episode where he learns forbidden/special kung fu techniques (which is pretty much magic) in mere seconds. None of it is canon, unfortunately, but it's pretty cool nonetheless
You dont know how much I want you guys to react kung fu panda!🥰😆😆😆 I love the reaction, I love the movie, I love everything so I am happy when you enjoyed this one.😊
There's lots of symbolism with the colors in this movie. (which color for each emotion) There's some excellent vidoes that go over it. Also many of the names are ironic/funny when translated. "Shifu" means "master." Tai Lung means "Great Dragon," the name of his "Chorh-gom" means "sit in prison," and it goes on.
Master Shifu is a follower of the philosophy of Confucianism, which is all about being in control of everything in life, while Master Oogway follows Daoism, which is all about going with the flow of the universe and letting things happen as they happen. This is a very, _very_ simplified summary of the two philosophies; Xiran Jay Zhao has some excellent videos about the cultural references in these movies.
A lot of reviewers give Oogway grief about passing on to the Spirit Realm when he did. Yes, Oogway could easily take down Tai Lung. However, I like to believe that Oogway could see what could have happened if he stayed vs what did happen when he left. If he took down Tai Lung, Shifu would not have gotten serious about training Po. Po wouldn't have achieved his potential as a martial artist and the Dragon Warrior, and Shifu wouldn't have found inner peace. Oogway in that moment was doing a very teacher-ish thing: I could do this myself, but if I did it would deprive you of the opportunity to learn, so I'm going to hang back.
Tai lung is a snow leopard. The furious five are all different fighting styles of Kung fu, like tiger style where you for example bend in your fingers half way to create a tigerclaw to fight with.
So, Kung Fu Panda really is one that holds a very special place for me. A lot of the things that Po struggles with (and continues to struggle with over the other two movies) are things that I have... and yes, continue to struggle with. I've had to fight to stand up for the belief that I, of myself, have value for who I am... not what others insist that I do or be. I have a very significant relationship that is having to give way to that in my life right now, but returning to that belief has been... amazingly freeing. There's no secret trick that I need to unlock or master, I just need to embrace who I am. The second one is amazing, and I'm one who even loves the third movie, as much as some people may not regard it as the strongest, but that's a conversation for another video. I'll just say that I feel as though it holds up.
@ReelTimeYT the villain Tai lung is a snow leopard ❄🐆 they are a rare and endangered species of big cat native to the high mountain's of Asia 🌏 such as the 🗻 of the Himalayas ( MT Everest )
It was easy for Tai Lung to tell that Tigress wasn't the Dragon Warrior (or what he expected the Dragon Warrior to be) on the bridge because she wasn't anywhere near his skill level. You can see that when the bridge tips sideways, Tigress keeps having to make micro adjustments to keep herself stable and not fall off. Meanwhile, Tai Lung is just leaning on the other side as balanced as you please. It's a sign that it isn't just hype; he really is that good of a warrior. Naturally, if Oogway refused Tai Lung the Dragon Scroll, the real Dragon Warrior has to be even better than the best (or at least that's what Tai Lung thinks).
Oogway did the Jedi master thing like Obiwan, Yoda and even Luke when he gave up his physical body. Why they do that when they´re needed the most remains a mistery to ordinary people like me though...
You guys definitely gotta watch part 2 and 3… Kung fu panda is one of the only animated films where the sequels are just as good if not better than the 1st
