The worst part about Mercury, and the thing that made it feel bad, was Mercury. It was the smallest location, and it was a paid one. If the infinite forest was always open, it would have been so much better
@@BrenoGF144 exactly. It had the potential to be literally anything they wanted because it was a simulation. We could have used it in so different ways and it got completely underused. It was pretty sad
@@ethanhensley9355 he probably bought it before it went Free, Curse of Osiris and Warmind were free for all player back in 2019 or 2020 i don't remember but it was when Shadowkeep dropped i think
Remember getting the osiris dlc on ps4 for the first time. I really loved the forge weapons & design of panoptes. Shame we couldnt use sparrows in free roam on mercury though.
The shot of the Vex "seeds" arriving on Mercury is simply incredible. I really hope we learn more about their nature in the future, maybe witness their actions in other star systems.
It's a shame they took Io mercury and titan from us and its just like get over it is how the devs come across like those places were all cool in their own ways....I still hold a big grudge over them doing that
i wasnt too happy with this content when it came out. now. i want it back so so badly. more than ever even. the ornaments too. i only have 1 leg. and i missed the chance to get the vex hunter leg ornament in game. and it hurts.
Here’s the thing, whether the expansion was good or bad we paid money for it. MONEY. We spent our hard earned dollars on this and it got taken away from us. We shouldn’t be arguing about “Well, people didn’t like it back then so how would you guys feel if they brought it back?” It doesn’t matter what we feel, what matters is that we get what we fucking paid for.
I pre ordered it and really liked the thing about weapon crafting. This small forge in the lighthouse made me smile every time I had to craft something. Oh, yea, the paradox was really perfect.
The final boss was the best part of that entire DLC. Panoptes was a cool and unique boss. Wish Bungie had done more with it. Even the mechanics to defeat Panoptes made it feel like a raid boss.
I honestly loved the curse of Osiris campaign, sure some things in the campaign weren't 100% amazing but all in all it's one of the big story lines that got me hooked right back into the game along with the warmind campaign.
A Taken or SIVA corrupted version of Panoptes would be neat. Honestly, a SIVA corrupted Vex (Vex corrupted SIVA might be better) quest line, raid, dungeon or whole season would be awesome.
I loved the visuals of Past Mercury’s luscious yellow landscape and pink forests with vex architecture floating in the distance. I was always hyped to play the Garden World Strike because majority of the strike took place in past mercury. The rest of the dlc was underwhelming, small circle hub world with one public event. Final story boss, PANOPTES was unmemorable and didn’t live up to being the finale. The highlight I’d deem unique was having Osiris fighting alongside you. It’s upsetting that they couldn’t cast SAGIRAS voice actor again for future update with Osiris present because she was “too expensive” and Bungie decided to just have her killed off-screen and mention her death through lore and transmissions. If I ever get back on, I’ll put my Sagira Shell on and FLEX REAL GOOD, I mean commemorate her. If they could bring back sunset worlds, I’d want mercury back or at least put the Garden world strike back in the game.
Curse of Osiris might be underrated. There were a lot of weapons to chase. I don't think the expansion was that bad, just the state of the game overall. The current seasonal model has become to formulaic, cut-and-paste.
Now we got this pay to do every single activity game. Dont even bother booting it up anymore such a shit game now just looking to get cash with every activity.
And there it is, the last time we had a good vex villain. Now we just get shitty hiveminds and other boring stuff that gets deleted and reincarnated every other strike run
Mercury was one of my most visited places because of how much lore there is, but when adventure were still in, they were good to farm with other people in the community.
This expansion spawned so much infighting at Bungie claiming it and its fans were sexist because they didn't like the Woman lead. No, it was just a terrible expansion and badly written story, and we fans were told to eff off when we pointed out lore contradictions. Similar to Star Wars drama. 😆
for whatever reason the when warmind came out it felt like the peak of destiny two for me. I loved the difficulty of SOS and the ikelos weapons being broken + WOTW. I've returned back to d2 recently and I'm enjoying it a lot but its just much more complicated now than it was back then.
If they made Mercury an actual destination, it probably would not have gotten as nearly as much hate. I still feel that most of D1's DLCs were not as interesting to me simply because most of the assets were already made and supposed to be in the base game. If Mercury was a whole full destination, maybe even with a past/present/future versions of itself, then it would have been awesome- AND our first desert/oasis themed destination too!
I never saw Curse of Osiris as a full scale Taken King sized expansion, which is probably where a lot of the dislike of it came from. It had a decent campaign, a lot of weapons, Infinite Forest and a couple of strikes-which is in some ways more content than seasons brought us. It’s certainly the least of the traditional DLCs that we had before the season model kicked in, but there have been far worse seasons than Curse.
If Bungie ever brings back Mercury, make the area much bigger, give the Infinite Forest a genuine RNG on platforms, enemies and pathways that leads you to either the past, future or present.
I always find it intriguing when people use what if arguments. No. I don't think cursive Osiris would be hated as much as it is if we had it in today's destiny 2... But we didn't. The game was incredibly shit at that time. So we judge the dlc that came to expand on a shitty game
Panoptes was a cool design, but the boss fight was kind of meh. A wave of enemies, then hop onto some platforms and hit panoptes once or twice to knock some health off, repeat twice more. A classic lame "do a thing 3 times" boss, like a lazy platformer boss
This should have been added to the strike playlist so we have more of the same three strikes and the rights of proving maps. WAY WAY WAY too much cut from this game
Dlc was ass the weapon crafting that dlc was the only thing worth doing and most of the weapons were trash. The public event was kinda mid and story felt like we're on a Osiris side quest and nobody told us
Do you have any footage of the old tower through the years back when Saladin and Efrideet and Petra were there and like the different special events and such?
I don’t think it would be well received today either. It had like one strike and one raid lair. Not even a full raid. It was closer to what is known as a season than a DLC.
I didn’t mind curse of Osiris and warmind tbh, I was getting into destiny again right around season of arrivals, so catching up on a load of old content was pretty nice. I still really love Mercury and the infinite forest, there are so many things that can be done with it and I really hope that bungie somehow brings it back in some form. Mercury with the same time scars Mars has right now, with looks into the golden age and possibly even some of the vex’s dark future leaking into them. And while yeah we killed Panoptes, it still feels like a waste to have that badass of a vex design be simply thrown away for what is essentially a season sized dlc. If Panoptes were to return somehow, maybe now that Osiris and guardians haven’t been around to take down any new threats that may come up in the Infinite Forest, Panoptes or some other vex with a similar design (maybe even some kind of backup or a new mind seeking control of the forest. After all it’s still a massive asset for the vex) could break in and try to take control back from the witness. And this part is a stretch, but maybe we could find some way to work with the vex, only the ones in the black garden seem to align with darkness specifically. And with Asher Mir seeming to be a harpy now, with his now much more expansive insight on the vex, he could make a return as a possible candidate for us to be able to work with and even ally with a vex faction (forget what they’re called specifically but I mean stuff like the Sol Divisive and the Hezen Corrective. Not those specifically though ofc) And with that potential alliance we would be able to use the Infinite Forest as well as the vex usually would. Whether it be for predictions, training, (I’ve always had the idea in my head for some kind of wave based thing that can go on as long as you want. Probably just a better way to test out weapons than shooting those weird discs in the enclave lmao. Could even use it to try out rolls before getting them, just only being able to use them there until you get it/craft it yourself) or whatever else.
Back when this add on came out literally everyone I knew and also youtube videos people said it was a completely missed opportunity for random rolls to return because of the vex forge that we unlocked. Also panoptes uses oryxs animation frame
If mercury returned I personally want to see it in the golden age or the collapse era or even the dark future or rotating one like the past/golden ago have fallen The collapse have vex and dark future have red legion cabal but that's just me tho
I really hope they would be able to bring back all the old planets and even the old expansions, so my favorite memories from the game are back on Saturn's moon Titan
Personally, Curse of Osiris was my favourite expansion when I first played before Shadowkeep dropped. Forsaken definitely had a great idea with revenge for Cayde-6, but the Vex are a much cooler enemy then the Scorn, and I kind of felt like the Barons were padding. It's not a popular take for a reason, but it was my favourite expansion, just wish I took the time to learn how to get Sagira's Shell cause it's my favourite in the entire series and I can no longer get it :(
Your opinion is extremely unpopular, so you definitely fall in a very small minority here. However I still respect it since taste is subjective and there is no objectivity when it comes to preferences.
in fact the area it was in looks similar too, more toward my hypothesis that the vex network functions like an inverted parallel world. All the structures the vex have ever made are mirrored in that realm with their true functions revealed- this explains how their teleportation works. They have a combined computational web that envelopes entire star systems geometry.
I think the thing that made Curse of Osiris so lackluster was how bad the patrol space was, I mean hell there was only one public event that would spawn in because of how small the space was. Also the infinite forest, as cool of a concept as it is, kind of started to get boring after your 5th time having to run all the way through it again. But I will say Curse if Osiris did bring some cool looking weapons and set pieces.
