Back on 74 is by the group Jungle. It came out in, you guessed it..... 2023

During this period of releases, Ren was leaving Easter eggs. The song he released before this was Fred Again Mashup. He used the song Jungle by Fred Again as part of the mashup. This song has Back on 74, by Jungle. In it he shouted out Nas. The next song he released after this one was Halftime (Nas Retake). Also, there is a different version of Ren doing Message In A Bottle on the Brighton Beach Busking BBB channel. The audio is not as good as videos on Ren's channel. But it's still pretty cool. There is also an Englishman In New York cover that he did with his band The Big Push. That is a whole different rabbit hole if you haven't seen them on your other platforms yet.

The pause is more than just a device to highlight the "awkward pause" lyric. Nas wrote a song called "The World Is Yours" that touches on a lot of social injustice themes. It's an awkward pause because, if you're familiar the lyrics, the Nas shoutout is jarring against the nostalgia of Back on 74.

This was another brilliant ReNtake. Just Ren doing Ren things. Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. I LOVE singing Ren & his sexy manly after hours Mad Men look too lol. He's a fan of The Police and his range is very similar to Sting's (if not better). I can say that one thing he has over many artists, is versatility and in spades! He likes to flirt with reggae once in awhile too, which is always cool. He compliments these amazing backup singer's perfectly. He never overpowers them, just rides the wave with them...beautifully and always keeps his performances interesting & captivating.

He can rap, sing, beatbox, plays guitar and piano, produces all his music. In fact his talent is unlimited. The style is classic Ren. If I had to compare it to a style in time, I'd almost have to say a 1970's Motown feel. It's funny because if you go back and listen to the original song, Back on '74 by Jungle, it's a very modern dance number. It sounds nothing like this. Ren brought back an old style and gave it a fresh face. For those who don't know, Kai, the guitarist, plays Kujo in Kujo Beat Down.

Ren and the police are a match- you need to listen to big push Englishman in New York. It’s probably the best cover of any song I’ve heard

Ren's musical brilliance is definitely in the arrangement of this mash-up. Opening - Back on 74 - by Jungle (UK electronic funk/soul group, song released 2023) Bridge - Naughty bars by Ren (original lyrics 2024) Closing - Message in the bottle - by Sting (The Police, song released 1979) Ren's musical arrangement is incredible because he blends 2 songs from different decades & genres, as well as an original rap by him, all seamlessly. Ren uses the famous "Message In a Bottle" guitar riff by adding it to the 1st song "Back on 74". Then he incorporates the lyrics "Let it go" from 'Back on 74" and let's the backing vocalists blend it into the "Message in a Bottle" cover. That alone would be crazy good, but then he goes & connects both songs bridging them with an original rap that he wrote on the fly. 🤯🤯
