@Full Throttle HOG and I enjoyed the sunshine and morning coffee before our ride up to Beartooth highway! The weather in the area was predicting 0% chance of rain and mild temps! It was a perfect ride! Right up until we reach the summit of Beartooth Pass... The ominous rain clouds looming over the horizon had me PRETTY confident that we were going to get rained on haha. One thing this Ohio girl forgets is ELEVATION! So very quickly that rain turned into hail and I could NOT hang! Amazing how much those little breath mint size hail balls STUNG! Hmm, I think I see how you avoid the wind flattening your Insta360. The mount is cocked 45 degreed and it looks like the pole is pretty much straight up? The wind always wants to blow mine flat. It's been pretty annoying. I use the X2, which is skinner (less wind resistance, right?), but it's been pretty frustrating. Keeping the pole short (2 segments) helps quite a bit, but still. Ha! I see where your mount went flat in the rain! It's not just me! I'm glad only a little bit of your beartooth ride was a bust. I can tell you, It sucks riding all the way to the north rim of the Grand Canyon only to be socked in, foggy, rainy and not even able to see the far wall of the canyon. I am the Taker of the World's Worst Grand Canyon Pictures. The view at the top of Chief Joseph Highway is incredible. you can see range after range after range on a good day. I'll be doing this ride in a few weeks, coming from Lolo Pass, MT, heading to Tetons, then over to Estes Park area. I like the lights on the back of your side bags. The hail should be a reminder not to ride in a hoodie. lol Did it leave bruises? Hail: 1 star. Would not do business with ever again! It's funny how rapidly chipmunks nibble. Like, what's the rpm on that lil buddy?

You just showed me what kind of a ass rider you are . Going down the highway with no hands on the handles of the bike . To bad you didn't tip over and smear yourself down the road. You never know when road hazards pop up .

I was once a rider like you, then I took a huge chunk of hail to the knee! Dohvakin!!! Foos Roh Dah! In all seriousness, those were some epic vistas, thank you so much for sharing! Definitely a bucket list of roads to hit up in the near future!

I wish they had all this technology back in the 90’s. Since May of 1999 I’ve had 5 Harley’s the you could travel across country with. I had a 1999 heritage, a 2001 road king , a 2005 ultra classic and I now have a 2014 Streetglide special. Between all o those bikes I’ve rode over 230,000 miles and I’ve rode to all 48 of the continental US.

Not the worst hail I've seen. Got caught in storm in northern New South Wales near Graystanes. We had golf ball sized hail and luckily for us we found a toilet block to shelter in for two hours. Worst one I've been through.

Rode Beartooth on our way to Glacier last year; it is an amazing and beautiful ride. I also loved the pull off/ overlook with all of the chipmunks running around; the critters were cute, but the view from that overlook is awesome.

Wife and I rode the Beartooth Highway on July 4 several years ago. Crossing the pass, the road was dug out of snow with walls 16 feet high beside us. The pass was a huge snow field with skiers playing on it. We had a snow ball fight on a beautiful day.

I've been out here since 1986 and have seen it snow ❄️ EVERY month of the year! We had a stretch where it snowed 🌨 on the 4th of July somewhere in Wyoming for like 5 or 6 years straight. A few year's ago we had a blizzard that dropped 15-18" of snow on the last day of school before summer break..lol..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠

Heck yes! Watching the Jess goes West series and reliving those epic roads!! I came over from Australia for Sturgis last year with Heavy Duty Motorcycle Tours and we headed out through Cody, in to Yellowstone before heading south through Colorado and Utah. Just spectacular riding!

Back in June 1983, my first wife & I was on this highway only so many miles east and west of Beartooth Pass was a gravel road. I stopped at the peak of Beartooth pass and took a couple of pictures. Let me tell ya, there was still snow there and WINDY! I jumped back into the car and warmed up. You are hitting this at a good time, Jess. I didn't stop at The Top of the World because it was closed.

Hi . Just wondering if you are HAPPILY married . What does hubby do while you,re out on these trips. Keep up the vlogs . Great scenery . We have travelled Western U.S.A on bikes and by motorhome. LOVE IT . If not for Covid we would have been back again by now .We free camped everywhere and never had a problem. We always found people to be friendly and helpful . We travelled the Bear Tooth and it was a highlight of the trip.We crossed the top of the Rockies.12,5000 ft . We camped in Yellowstone on 3 different trips . FANTASTIC . I could live in the U.S .So different from Australia . I,m proud to be Australian BUT inland OZ is BLOODY FLAT AND ENDLESSLY BORING .I love the coastal riding . Keep doing what you do . Graeme . Wife, Eldest daughter, Granddaughter and I were there in June. All snow covered except roads. Many Moose, bear in bottoms where we stayed near entrance to Yellowstone. Greetings from Oklahoma

Yes ma'am, we rode Beartooth pass in 2009. My wife on her Dyna Low Ryder and I on a Ultra Classic rode basically the same trip as you . We live in Pennsylvania, took three off from work, rode two lane roads to Jackson hole, headed north from Tetons to Yellowstone, well you know all the rest.

Love that place so much! My husband and I went there on our honeymoon and fell in love with it. The chipmunks were definitely one of my favorites too! We hope to get back out there on our bikes soon! Your footage is amazing!! ❤️

I’m glad you got to make the trip up there. I’ve riden it twice, so beautiful! Sorry it wasn’t the best experience. Words to the wise, best to get up to max altitude in the mountains in the morning and down some before noon - weather is always going to come in the afternoon. As for the forecasts, nearly useless in the higher mountains, and whether it some as rain or snow or hail is an unknown. Hail can get really big in a hurry, I’m glad you not got the small stuff. Riders without helmets can get concussions and be knocked out in hail, seen it a few times, bad stuff. I guess you’ll just have to go back again!

All Hail Jess! I've only ever seen hail half that big while underway. But I can assure you that heavier gloves and a full coverage suit would help a lot. Cutting speed was very smart to reduce impact.

Been on Chief Joseph and Beartooth a couple of times now. Wife and I got hailed on in 2015 (on the down slope from the lookout you were feeding the chipmunk) and got the rain, too! :) And they're always doing some sort of construction during the summer months. It's their only time to have decent weather. Hopefully you got your Top of the World shirt. If you stop in Red Lodge, MT they have a shop called Bone Daddy's motorcycles which sells shirts that say "Get your ass over the pass!" in honor of the ride. Glad you made it up there, hail and all! The Big Horns in Wyoming are also very nice off of 14A. Great vid! The views are breathtaking and incomparable!

Great ride report. Loved the Skyrim reference. 1 thing in learned from traveling. Whenever I was west of the Mississippi River, if I saw a grey cloud l got rained on (only hail once) by the end of the day and it didn’t matter how far it was . It always caught up to me . 😆 Which is why I got a Aerostich roadcrafter

We've ridden Beartooth before, and plan on it again for the Beartooth Rally in Red Lodge this year. It's definitely one of the greatest rides ! Love your videos,keep them coming!

Been there done that 4 years ago. Add to my adventure pulling a m/c trailer, we entered from the South and when on top it started sleeting and snowing and it started getting dark as it was late afternoon. One good thing the temp held at 34 degrees so no ice on the roads. Stayed the night in Red Lodge Montana. The next day the group wanted to go back over. I said see you and Cody and we finally met up later that day.

I do the beartooth pass nearly every year. You got to enjoy one of it's glorys. 12 foot snowbanks are possible in june. Beartooth rally is always the 3rd weekend in july. Very laid back. A lot more fun than sturgis. Book rooms a year in advance though. The chipmunks and rock chucks are awesome critters.

That was an amazing ride. Even from behind my screen. Mountain weather has got nothing about what weather reports say, they just don't care lol. Ngl the hail ouch you had. made me laugh a little bit. 😂But could totally feel the stings they give. When I was younger riding my bicycle from and to school and work in sun/rain/snow/hail haha. My first hail ride was a nice summer day, I didn’t have a jacket on and there was a random hail squall that I went through at 60 mpg. It lasted about 30 seconds, the pellets were airsoft BB sized. When I got home I had welts all over my arms, and neck. Basically anywhere I didn’t have a shirt.

The tall poles on the side of the road are for the snowplows to help them find the road in the spring, cause the snow usually gets to the top of those tall poles.

The hail and the rain you rode through is showing reality what it is when you ride a motorcycle cross country.The elevation and thin air to breathe. Beautiful country such a joy to watch. Bob and I rode Chief Joseph and Beartooth in 2015 on the way to the BMW Rally in Billings. We had better weather than you did no construction. Loved the rode and the scenery. We continued west and got our wheels just into WA and OR. ID was awesome. Great video Jess.

Those chipmunks are awesome… I’ve experienced the same reaction from them 45years ago…. I had crawl right up my pant leg and sit on my knee and take food from my hand… I think they have developed and instinct that they are born with in that area to trust humans for food

Rode the same roads yur on this year b4 sturgis, from cody to red lodge, then through the big horns , very beautiful, fun fact it could snow at any time on top of beartooth, it did a few weeks b4 sturgis, washed out part of the roads.

I rode this in 2021. top of the world had a ton, of mosquitoes. we moved on and hit the Summitt. I remember thinking how earlier in the day we had no snow and at the Summitt we were riding in snow. enjoy your trip.

I've been fortunate enough to ride it 3 or 4 times over the years. We were up there this past June and Beartooth was closed due to the heavy rains that closed Yellowstone for awhile. It's one of if not thee best roads I've ridden. It rains and sometimes snows even in summer

Attended a wedding in West Yellowstone and drove the Bear Tooth Highway with the family. I tell everyone about it! Awesome, even in a rental car. I want to go back on motorcycles.

My buddy and I just came through there that day. We passed you on Chief Joseph going in the opposite direction. He was afraid I was going to flip a Uie and chase you down. Fortunately for us we were ahead of the Hail and rain. It was one of the best rides of my life. Glad you made it safe.

That was awesome. It's a shame the weather turned on you but since you were laughing I don't feel bad for laughing when the hail hit. And that fat chipmunk was soooo cute. I can't wait for Yellowstone next.
