I took the Basic Bike Bonding RiderCourse and Ultimate Bike Bonding RiderCourse at the MSF Campus in Alpharetta, GA. See how I finally conquered that u-turn box at the end of the BBB so you can too, and find out why I'll be back for the police drills of the UBB, the hardest slow speed skills course I have taken this year.

When I started riding and did my MSF courses, I realized that slow turn maneuvers and u turns and right hand turns were really difficult. But when I got up to speed that stuff didn't matter as much so I just ignored improving on those slow speed skills. After watching your videos about your fear of u turns, I realized I have the same fear. So now whenever I go out riding, first thing I do is stop in a parking lot and use the parking spot lines to practice u turns and slow speed maneuvers for at least 20 minutes before I head out and do anything else. I'm improving and feeling better about it and that translates to feeling even better about high speed riding and confidence. Thank you so much for sharing this obstacle and for conquering it because it has affected and improved my riding skills as well. You're awesome!

The thought has occurred to me this morning that nothing is more important to your continued safety are motorcycle training courses. I have been riding motorcycles for 40 odd years and have worked as a Traffic Police Officer (and had to pass a Police driving safety course.) I was out this morning and twice nearly taken off the road by car drivers who failed to yield to me. (Me on the main road and them coming from a side road at a minor junction. ) Please do as Doodle does regularly, She is an inspiration to the riding community. Please Please Please, take a rider training course, as many times as you can. One day it WILL save your life.

Something you may have learned from your martial arts training. A beginner practices until they can do it right. The master practices until they can not do it wrong. Pick one skill, and practice it on every single ride. Just for 2 minutes or so. Then do it for another skill. You take on the tough things more than any other channel. Bravo! ! !

Oh my gosh, Doodle! Watching your excitement causes me to get excited and proud for you. I know that with my Goldwing, it isn’t as easy to do slow maneuvers as other bikes I’ve rode and own. But that’s because it has the brake system that when you apply the back brake, the front caliper also grabs. Too much on the brake pedal and the entire bike will squat like a stubborn farm animal and cause you to topple over. I love your stay positive attitude in situations where you’re challenged!!!

Hi Doodle this looked liked a real fun day with a great group of guys. Counter steering does seem to be counter intuitive, but I remember as a 10 year old, doing just that, when racing around a dirt track, it's so easy with the weight of a bicycle. This is where the difficulty comes in, having to push against the weight of your motorcycle, but once over that initial fear, it becomes perfectly natural. I can both see and hear you've mastered the skill, and one definitely needed for dirt riding. Thanks' for a great video, and keep having fun🌹💗🌹

I love the idea of these MSF courses. I'm in WA and you do one-on-one lessons with an instructor, then get your license. While a learner mc rider you have to always have a shadow. These courses really beneficial to have other rider's perspectives and how they deal with the lesson/challenges. I think maybe some clubs have one-off/special group courses every now and then.

I’m glad you guys did it the right way to get your license by taking the course. I just happen to be lucky living next to a church with big parking lot and just took at the time a brand new 2017 street bob and practiced and took the test and passed to get my endorsement. I traded that bike in got me a 2020 street glide that I still take to church parking lots and practice for 15 minutes and watch joe from ride like a pro, fast Eddie from motojitsu, Dan Dan the fireman videos on YT that are very helpful. But I’m still planning on taking an advanced course in the town I live. Great video and enjoyed watching it.

Congrats on the box! I practice the box every couple of weeks. My bike is difficult because there is no real friction zone for me. I ride a 2019 Goldwing Tour DCT. I'm lucky that my previous Goldwing was of course a manual transmission so I know what the friction zone is supposed to feel like. I emulate that now by throttle vs back brake. That takes a lot of practice to make it smooth.

I had a big problem with 20' U-turns when I first started riding. I would always get nervous and slow down too much to keep the bike up or snatch my front brake. After tons of practice in a parking lot everything just clicked. That was 30 years ago, now I can turn around in the width of my driveway on a large motorcycle. I drive a Tiger 900 GT and I am only 5'6" with a 30" inseam.

Nice job Doodle!! For me the biggest keys to slow speed maneuvers are getting right on the friction zone to feather the clutch, and most of all, pointing where I want the bike to go with my chin, turning my head way to the side to make those slow tight U-turns. It sounds weird but give it a try.

I started practicing at parking lots with my cones after watching Motojitsu channel. I've gotten a lot better at my slow speed turns, U-turns and swerving. I find it's a combination of body position, where you look and controlling the clutch, brakes (mostly rear for slow speed) and throttle that works best for you.
@10secondsrule

It’s really simple if you got the basics right. Increase revs for some extra gyro effect stability (use more clutch to compensate), use rear break and counter balance with body.

Been riding all of a solid week on my 2022 Honda ADV150 (auto obviously) and was having trouble with leaning while turning & taking off after stopping. I chose the ADV for its simplicity and didn’t want to start out on anything bigger than a 200cc. Once I get a few years under my belt, I’m eyeballing the Honda NC750X DCT 😉 since I can start out on auto with it, then swap over to manual when I’m ready to learn how to use a clutch. I came to realize after hopping on that it requires you to lean it just like a typical motorcycle since there isn’t a foot floor like most scooters. From what I’ve seen, most scooter riders don’t need to lean too far/only have to shift their weight or twist their hips, maybe I’m wrong about that but from what I’ve witnessed, this is the case. The ADV has what I call foot boards and your legs are up against the fuel tank. Anyway, last night I conquered my fear of stopping smoothly and taking back off again as well as leaning it more! Went to a parking lot and practiced about 30 mins, then stopped at 4 stop signs without issues. Muscle memory from over 20yrs of riding a mountain bike has helped tremendously so it feels like a lot of it has come naturally to me. Gonna practice my leaning/turning more this evening along with countersteering. Not comfortable attending a MSF/MREP course yet. I’ll prolly teach myself for a bit & go take my test for my endorsement before I do anything like that, so I’ll just take an advanced scooter course in 6mos. Don’t have $200 to throw around right now so I’ll just spend the $55 for my endorsement test Lol Practice makes perfect!

Did to me only noticed after the fact when I took my glove off and my thumb fell down completely away from my hand!!!!! Also …. Crash bungs are ok, but….. they can cause more damage than you think, if you crash, they smash your legs to pieces, and Can rip the bolts out of your engine, and can warp, and break your frame. Do some research before buying them, I hear covers are the best, or covers with added pieces. R&G make the classic ones. Just sayin.
