You spoke a lot about the wheel working on different bases, I have a Simagic Alpha and it has an identical quick release and pin connector set up. Do you know if the Moza wheel and the Simagic base would be compatible?
I think you forgot to mention that all the switches and thumb dials are aluminium not plastic. I have the V2.5, and this definately looks a step up. If it was available to mount to the Fanatec based, I would 100% get one.
If you liked that then Please check out this one. Its my best one and its not a review. I recommend you check the other kinds of videos here. Its not all reviews ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ASLwRwYn35Q.html
300mm formula rim is perfect size. 300mm is the best size for a wheel in my opinion and I love my fanatec wrc rim for that reason and because of this my formula v2.5 feels a tad bit too small
Honestly, best thing MOZA could do with this product is come up with their own USB conversion that slots into this quick release with a 6x70mm PCD on the back of the conversion. Have it work with their own software so it's all still first party, and then allow it to be used on any other platform. Nice wheel!
It is a system seller for them. It looks they want to go the Fanatec way and create a closed system to sell their own hardware. Unfortunately. The wheel just looks stunning.
@@PrepaidKreditkarte81 can't disagree, but it might be a better move from Moza to make adapter's first party rather than third. Either way, if someone has managed to hack Fanatec to make their products USB compatible, the Moza range won't be any different.
I agree .. they should release it for other QRs and wheel bases too. Put a USB port on it , one which is robust . 300mm , thumb rotary encoders 💪. There's no word on clutch pedal bite point adjustability though ? Thanks for the review though 💪👍❤️
i have this added to my basket with the R9 just need to pull the plug on ordering but cant justify it currently as not been able to sim race in the last 5 months due to kids and work. Loved the video and the R9 and all the others. Keep up the content. Also the discord is brilliant and funny AF
I have pulled the plug and in same situe mate but will make time for this lovely bit of kit was waiting for thrustmaster but bored of waiting this rim is absolutely stunning
That wheel is its own thing from my observations. I only use the F1 style wheels in modern F1’s. Everyone seems to be using that style of wheel for all sim driving so being a larger diameter would work better for say GT 3’s etc I think.
Upgrading from a G29 base/pedals to the Moza ecosystem minus the dash (VR racing) after flirting with a Fanatec DD for ages. Your videos amongst the other reviews have sold me.
I love this, I am saving up right now for entry into the DD arena and have been doing much reviewing of available products, I keep coming back to Moza, and am likely going for the R9 base with this wheel and the CR-P pedals. A very exciting upgrade from my Logitech G920.
I didn't realise people criticised this for looking similar to the fanatec formula wheel. I mean, formula and gt wheels look very similar in real life so what do people expect? I think it look goooooorrrrrgeoooouuuuussssss.
the one thing that I wanna see in the formula v3 is a couple more dials and fewer buttons. IMO Moza got the layout almost perfect, thumb encoder on the right I have mapped as engine brake but still looks like it'll do the job well
Talked me into a preorder of this wheel and the r9, still got my csl dd on preorder incase i change my mind via some futher reviews. If your excitement is anything to go by then the r9 + GS will be perfect!
About your review. The visuals/camera work was a pleasure to watch. I wondered, if there was another review of this so new Moza wheel. I found one that was posted a few days before yours. What makes your review better, is you describing the experience of using it and that is a big important point. The other review did not cover the driving experience of the wheel. Looked like a generic review. But did cover something you did not. The user interface to manage the wheel features. They also pointed out how to set the backlit button colors and that the configuration of that setting could not be saved. That save is a feature the wheel needs. There are SO MANY buttons on it. Different colors for different functions would help. No ability to save that configuration is a missed feature. But that's a small fault. End the end. I think your review is better. You used it quiet a bit before making the review.
Anyone who says that MOZA copied Fanatec obviously hasn't seen real racing car steering wheels. There are a plethora of real steering wheels that look very similar to these. They do look similar, yes, but so do many real steering wheels in real race cars.
The only problem with it is the price for us Canadians the wheel is $930 through a local distributor as moza doesn't ship to canada directly vs the formula V2 being $500 cheaper although this wheel is much higher quality.
Great review and nice edit, again!! 👍 Wondering, i did see the 2 pedals set on Monza website, but cannot find any info over this. Will it be release soon?
Well made vid of supernice rim! If i may indicate 1 potential issue: how many years will the alcantara last? I have a cheaper fanatec Mc Laren rim, certainly not as nice as the Moza, but the seamless smooth rubber grips give fantastic hold, and will not be determining factor for its lifespan for sure (zero wear after couple years use)
It could be very doable to make it compatible with other wheel bases you just need a USB outlet for the electronics and have the bass compatible with a 70 mm a quick release pattern so that you can attach a podium hub to it
The one thing I think that these guys and other Will manufacturers should add this year to the 2.5 Anh Tu this is a small 4.3 inch screen or even 3.5 if it doesn’t fit I think that would really take things to the next level if they can make it affordable even better.
1 minor issue for me, I don't love that they already label all the buttons. Although thats not just an issue with Moza loads of brands do that I just find it annoying. Either way great review and the wheel looks awesome!
Oh I totally agree with that. But Moza do sent out stickers so you can change what they say. It can be forgiven on the GS though as they labeled everything that I would of labeled anyway
I've just been speaking to someone who sells these wheels and bases I've enquired to what they are like his reply was this - I can’t compare the two to be honest as I have a Dd1 for comparison rather than csl dd, I can say the wheels are on another level compared to fanatec. The wheelbase and performance of this unit really impressed me but I can’t give you an honest comparison of the two. I can’t see you being disapointed though. Moza are an incredible company to work with and have been second to none with everything I’ve needed in the last 6 months.
Rotary switches came off on at least one. I saw a picture today where the guy had two rotary switches missing on reddit. Sad that a wheel that's probably a few months old at best is already falling apart.
If this had a option to work with other DD bases via USB I’d certainly buy it. There’s no way that Moza is going to convert me from Simucube 2 Pro and I don’t think I’m there target market right now. But that doesn’t mean they can’t sell me a fantastic wheel or other components.
Hello, the steering wheel is great, just in my opinion there is a place for the display, if it was nothing more, nothing less. It's just my opinion, What do you think about it?
Happy the market s growing, better for us. Just wish their was a degree of cross compatibility so we could use this on a fanatec dd. I would get it in a heartbeat
Quick release comes standard vs having to pay extra for it (which pretty much adds up evenly with the v2.5 wheels, if not the moza still a few quid cheaper) I think once they release a cheaper wheel this company is gonna take off for the mass markets especially with them shipping to any place in the world vs other companies that only ship to certain places
Saying this wheel looks similar to the v2 is like saying all cars look similar because they have 4 wheels and some seats, possibly true but cars, like sim wheels do favor one another but they're all different
The backlit buttons are very useful in the dark ... but it you really had used the weel in the dark, you would have noticed that there is nothing to help locate the 2x joysticks and the 5x knobs ... Not even phosphorescent stickers !!! And there is of course the magnetic paddles unbearable noise issue. Of course you can add the little rubber patches to decrease the noise but it also changes the feeling and the travel of the paddles ... Moreover it is not normal to have to fix a 500 euros brand new wheel (you need to remove the paddles axis for that) Perfect ? Not really ...
in a review i was expecting at least a least of the type of inputs (buttons) and the feeling. Not asking for the load in grams to trigger the button but at least a comparison or some close up on the buttons. Same as per the joystick...are two joystick or like fanatec 1 joystick and a 4-way/d-pad?
Moza just needs to release a cheaper round wheel now without the clutch paddles. Their current one looks good but for a round rim I don't think you need dual clutch paddles, that's more of a feature for formula cars.
I have ordered my GS and R9 from Moza! Also ordered the CRP pedals but for some reason this morning the packing slip they emailed me did not include them. I ordered everything on Monday morning and on Wednesday the pedals were sold out. Hoping I didnt get screwed here, waiting to hear back. Let me ask this though, what pedals are you using? Incase I did not get the pedals like I ordered and paid for what would you recommend? Maybe Fanatec V3's?
Hey seb. I would be using the CRP pedals if I wasn't using others right now for review. That being said though, if for some reason the pedals haven't gone through I would recommend you check out my review on the simforge mark 1 pedals. It is my most recent review. If you give them about a month or 2 to fix some issues I addressed to them then I'd recommend those because they are basically heusinkveld sprint pedals for much much cheaper. Not to mention they are cheaper than the CRP pedals
Awesome vid. Thanks for explaining it in detail. In the fence of upgrading to the simagic alpha mini with the gt4 wheel or the moza r9 with this GS wheel
Now without being biased. I have tried the simagic and while it is a good deal the detail in force feedback is simply not as good as the R9. There's also some kind of clacking effect when the car goes over a rougher surface which is very weird. Go for the R9. Plus the GS wheel is infinitely better than the GT4 by miles
Why don't you tell people about there Rip off shipping? DHL 10-15day express shipping is $233 to usa Standard shipping is 40-50days for $38 Shipping from moza Is definitely a rip off on shipping cost for a brand new company that hasn't even proved there worth yet.
Hey! I am curious which wheelbase would you buy out of the 3? R9/R16/R21 with the GS rim? The bigger bases costs almost as much as a simicube pro 2. Tho I love Moza, but still not much reviews out and I just can't decide O_O
If it was my money I'd buy the R16. But honestly it's a difficult choice between the R9 and the R16. Both are astonishing value for money and perform better than anything I've ever tested.
To be honest I don't see any reason to ware gloves in the house but that's just my opinion. If you are worried about the life of your wheel grip you should only need a pair of thin cotton ones at the most. It's not like you're at risk of fire or I would hope not anyway 😂 You're basically giving yourself less feel when there's no reason to. Great looking wheel though and as I said in your previous video they need to get console support especially with that price point. They would make a killing! Good info again, thanks. ✌️😎
For protection and more power. It will hurt your hands if you’re not wearing gloves considering you’re using DD. I’m doing seamracing for 10 years and this long Time will hurt my hand skin
hi! great vid. in all honesty would you recommend getting the entire kit. dd and f1 wheel. i'm using the fanatec v2.5 and mclaren gt3 wheel and looking for a serioud upgrade.
Its like the McClaren GT3 & the Formula V 2 evolved in to a highbred lol, im to invested in my Fanatec gear :( to think of switching & really would need to have console compatibility as i have a ps5
As someone who just just commited to the fanatec ecosystem by going with the csl DD. I really hope they somehow make this compatible with fanatec. I'd like to use this wheel but im not gonna switch ecosystems again after everything ive recently bought for fanatec. Great review of what looks to be a great value wheel!
The one thing that annoys me about a lot of these wheel is the noise the paddle shifters make..that loud clacking! I race mostly at night when the family are asleep and the loud clacking is annoying!
So. if i understood correctly.. owners of any other DD System like myself (VRS direct force pro) cannot use the Moza GS? if so it would be pathetic. is there any way ?
@@CoyoteRacing if that is the case I'm in for a buy. price performance is amazing. really good video quality by the way, thank you for the response also♥️
I really like that wheel. If they offer it for mount it on a Simucube it would be on my list. I don´t understand people saying this is very similar to the Fanatec 2. I don´t see that. For me are pretty different but in the case it would be that similar who cares??? I´m also pretty autistic and OCD guy hahaha and I was with you about the dial thing until I though that ABS can´t start at 1 so that´s why they did it different. You need "0" as "no ABS/starting point" and then you only have 11 more steps. My autistic thing would made kill myself if that starts on "1" but would be even worst if I see "11" as the last value just because it starts on "0" hahahah. 10 and then Max or 12 is ok but 11 kills me hahaha. Very nice review ;)
Moza wheel base quality seems very questionable. R16 had serious issues on review , Karl Gosling noticed R9 bad thread cut in the QR bolt holes. And what is with reviewers getting gear with rusted parts. Buyer beware, Chinese QA/QC. I’d run a mile until these lads get their quality sorted out.
@@Omniverse0 I get what your saying...its true.... But, when I see a new product I want it to have it's own identity or look....when i first seen this, i immedately thought of my Fanatec Formula V2 Wheel... I'm sure it's cool and will make many folks happy... !
@@Omniverse0 Pretty sure Fanatec's designs are all pretty well established and where ahead of all other releases from other manufacturers..So I don't think they need any defending... Eye Roll Yourself....LOL
@@Omniverse0 lol.. dude..I feel bad for plebs like you. Seems like you want to fight about something. I went out of my way to be nice and compliment where I could. Fanatec have more wheels available then you have brains in your thick skull. OBVIOUSLY I'm not saying they influenced actual designs of F1 manufacturers wheels.. give me a break. If you stopped to think about what I was saying instead of reacting like a thin skinned kid... you'd understand I'm only comparing Fanatec to other sim equipment.. not actual F1 Team Wheels. Now take a deep breath and go find a life please..
Hold up there, the rims look similar? Why of course they do, all of them copy real world cars 🤣 Who's complaining about copying other sim racing stuff? Lol
It will come down to whoever has the best support and software. The new players in the DD market are looking good. Moza and Cammus are solid companies - they produce other stuff besides DD wheel base. Sim Magic and IMMSource are relatively the newcomers in the DD game. Compared to Fanatec, they are 25 years ahead of everybody. And let us not forget Simcube which started back in 2006. More options is always better for us consumers. Fanboys will always have something to say and I will never understand why they have to prove their favorite product will always be the best when everything is made from.... you guessed it! CHINA.
