"This could be the bourbon bargain of the year! Have you tried Wild Turkey's Jimmy Russell 70th Anniversary Bourbon yet? Is it living up to the hype? Share your tasting experiences and let’s discuss why this could be the bourbon steal of the year!"
I got my brother a bottle, and one for myself. I tried his before i opened mine since im not a huge turkey fan, so wasnt sure i was going to like it or not. After trying his, no doubt i was going to be opening mine. Its damn good. Weird. Says the video was posted 10hours ago, but this pinned comment 16 hours ago. How the comment is 6 hrs older than the video is pretty weird haha.
I was able to pick up a bottle at Wild Turkey last Saturday. Jimmy was in the gift shop and signed it for me. He was super friendly taking time to talk with people as he signed.
Happy travels to Oregon, the Whiskey community here is incredible. Westward has a great new space in the newly renovated airport. The Scotch Lodge & Multnomah Whiskey Library are great places to check out if you have extra time!
Man it’s a great bottle! I shared some with my grandpa and he loved it. It brought back some old fond memories for him. Great for experienced drinkers and newcomers as well. Fantastic stuff especially for the money.
First and most important, congratulations on the charity drive! As for the Wild Turkey 70th Anniversary, you talked me into it. I just ordered two and I’m also a Wild Turkey fan so looking forward to it. Really like your show.
Yes, I caught that too. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find flavors similar to ancho in a bottle of bourbon. Anchos are sweet, earthy and slightly fruity with notes of raisin, prune and tobacco. But they aren’t green
I just got a bottle today because of your recommendation and taking my first sip now: just like you said, really good. Smooth and complex at the same time. Cheers!
I am NOT a Wild Turkey fan, not because of anything other than it is what my grandfather had in the cabinet and I considered It to be cheap rotgut. Man did this change my mind. Such a great nose, mouth and finish. It’s a total banger for sure. Cheers to Jimmy!
i found 2 bottles at Sam's Club and immediately invited the boys over. we were all EXTREMELY impressed by it. Unbelievable bottle for $50. ill grab one every time i see one for sure.
Got a bottle last week and opened it up last night- love it! Need a backup bottle now. Only wish it would have been released at the distillery last month when we visited so I could have had Jimmy sign it. I did, however, have him sign a barrel head- it was great meeting the Legend!
I love this channel and I love the app I downloaded the app a week or 2 ago and I’m so happy keeping track of my collection and my wish list. Started with 5 then 12 then 16 now 20 bottles. Thank you 🙏
Ready for that Sagamore 9 year old review. I scooped a bottle and thought it was phenomenal. Absolutely love the extra oak on it. Way better than the already great 8 year.
Fantastic pour, especially for $50! I bunkered 3 of them. The only place I've seen these in Michigan so far is at various Meijer stores - haven't seen it in a liquor store yet.
A couple weeks ago I was at my local for a bottle of Buffalo Trace and spotted one of these on the shelf behined the counter. It was $59.99 so I bought it. Glad a did, a great pour. Cheers.
god bless wild turkey for making AMAZING bourbons for such great prices. i went soooo long not giving it a chance because back before i knew anything about whiskey i tried old crow and for some reason always thought wild turkey was trash on the level of old crow. I've never been more wrong. I've spent double or triple on bourbons that can't hold a candle to 101 or rare breed. thanks for turning me on to wild turkey.
I was hoping you were going to do a review of this bottle. After searching unsuccessfully for several weeks, I finally managed to pick one up a couple of weeks ago. Then, unexpectedly, I was able to get a backup yesterday. It really is a great bottle and I was so happy to see that they didn't give it a $200 price tag.
I got it about a month ago on the first run, was spectacular. I finished it a week ago. If they would make that available all the time it would be in my cabinet always.
Thank you for all you do and I will love to try some Wild Turkey soon! I called the wine shoppe in Troy Michigan and they already sold out. But they took my number for the next delivery soon!
Good luck, I just got done hunting around Detroit and the only place I found it is asking $130. They can keep it, fortunately I found it in California.
thx Guys, great review!!! I just purchased at Total Wine store in Myrtle Beach, SC area after watching this video, purchased for $55 less $5 rewards I had so net $50. Cant wait to try in a few days
From what ive seen, the 70th anniversary is a blend of 8yr and 9yr barrels from jimmys favorite rickhouses. Also, i think its better when yoy do reivews after the bottles been open for a bit. Makes the review more accurate for what its going to be opposed to the neck pour.
Dropped last week at our ABC store for 45.00, there are no limits on bottles. I bought 3 bottles, and they're still on the shelf. We were told that they should be relatively available.
Guess I’ll pour a Russell’s 10 and watch. Love infusing a stick of vanilla in the 10 year for a few weeks. In laws just brought in green chilis from NM 🍻
Someone needs to teach Trenton about inflation. (11:45) $50 in the "60s & 70s" was NOT a "working man's" bottle of whiskey...since that equates to a $400+ bottle today.
I love that 70th Anniversary Bottle!! I think at that proof and at 8 Year min, it is the best price of 2024!!! Cheers to the "Godfather", Not Grandfather LOL
Just a smooth 101 in my opinion happy I got one and gave it a go but not my favorite for the price point considering I scored a couple 24b stag for 58$ a piece
Invest in Bitcoin before retiring by diversifying across assets, allocating a small portion of your portfolio, staying updated on market trends, and considering long-term holding to balance risk and growth.
I recently sold half my tech stock holdings due to all-time highs, leaving me with $400k. Should I invest in ETFs now or wait for a market correction considering potential inflation?
Did anyone else notice the " orb" that came out of the glass in front of Trenton, moved right to left, then back left to right? At the 16-second mark of video.
I drank WT101 since 78. I saw no need for anything else as it was spot on the best. That faded in the 2000s. I have several bottles of the 70th. It seems a bit softer than the current shelf bottle. I added a splash of RR SiB to the 70th and it took me back to the 90s WT101. One friend said he thought the current shelfer was better than the 70th. Another said he couldn't tell the difference. I don't think the 70th has the 10-14yo juice in it as the original AN8 did. I think they grabbed barrels that were exactly 8yo and dumped them to match current profile. Recently scored a 1983 unopened decanter. Hopefully it's every bit as good as I remember and wasn't subjected to extreme temps.
Is it better than Rare Breed? I get that they are different, but they are the same price point for me, so is it worth camping out for this one instead of getting a Rare Breed?
Hello I live in Portland, and was wondering if the westward distillery is going to air your show and if there is a way come there to see your show live Thank you
I have yet to explore WT in my whiskey journey so far and I’m just sooo dying to go buy like four different bottles rn and spend the weekend getting to know some WT!
