Holy shit, I remember you saying that you had chronic pain from a few episodes back, but I didn't know it was that bad. You should be proud of what you accomplished. You didn't just start a RU-vid channel, but you stuck with it. You reached out to publisher for review copies, and got copies for reviewer purposes. You dipped your toes into not just game reviews, but even gaming discourse. You created a community, and as small as it was? You continued to stick with it. You said that you were no hero, and that in games you could be one? I don't believe that one second. It takes dedication to not just stick with something, but put hard work into it. Thank you for everything, and please take care of yourself.
Yea, its um....difficult to describe how it feels and what it does to you. Obviously you can look up Fibromyalgia and see for yourself but yea, I was diagnosed with "severe Fribromyalgia" so its definitely on the strong side. I am definitely proud of what I was able to do but I wouldnt have been able to get anywhere without people like yourself watching my videos. I cant even tell you how much I appreciate it. I tried stuff, did my best and learned how to do things along the way. Thank you for every kind word and for every time you watched a video or left a comment. It still blows my mind that anyone watched anything I posted haha. You're very welcome for the content and I'll do my best to look after myself🙂

Hi John, I sincerely hoped that this would never happen. I hoped that I could build this into something cool but sadly, it has to end. As you said, I am glad I was able to do what I did and I'm proud of it too. Maybe in another life, things would be different but as it stands, it is what it is. I'm going to miss this but sir, you were a true help to me, both in terms of encouragement and donations. I couldn't have done a lot of this without you and I'm eternally grateful for everything. I'm going to rest, relax and try to just live day to day. I'll play the odd game here and there and play some card games in real life but other than that, I gotta focus on my health. I dont want to push myself and be gone from the planet in 10 years. I also dont want to push my luck with my health and end up forgetting important memories or people. At the end of the day, my hand was forced and it sucks but as you said, I just have to look after myself the best I can. Thanks for everything my friend🙂

I've lived with this all my life. Not brought on by any accident or anything, it was genetics for me. But I completely understand what you're going through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's why I can't do content creation as much anymore either. I've been told it gets worse as you get older, and that's been the case for me too. Man, I'm sorry that you have to deal with it. Its such a crappy thing to contend with because it affects different people SO many different ways. The pain and other symptoms are unbearable sometimes, it comes and goes. You just never know what you're gunna be dealing with and its just....I dunno, a bit of a nightmare. These are the cards I've been dealt and I have to deal with it. Sadly, my channel is just another victim in the long line of things I've had to quit in the last 12 years. @@ConsolesOnlyGaming likewise. Your reviews convinced me to get a few games and all of them have been great. I even recently got into Coromon and....I honestly like it a little more than Nexomon. It feels the most similar to Pokémon but still feels like it's own thing. I also REALLY love how shinies I'm this game work and repeatability is really high with the difficulty customization. I may have to reply the game with some of these new rules...I'm surprised nit too many monster tamer tubers don't boast about this game incans we thus having a surprisingly long shelf life with how prominent nuzlocke content is.

I always liked your videos, and although I'm in Texas, I always thought man this guy is basically just like me, likes the same games, says the same things I'd say about them in reviews, etc, he could probably even be a good friend if we didn't have a huge pond between us, lol. But with all that being said, a real friend would want you mentally and physically okay. So what really sucks here, is that you're going through this. So as you're friend, half a world away, I wish the best for you, I hope there is some respite for you, and maybe we'll get to meet and have a beer or a coffee even if it's not in this lifetime. Hey man, thank you so much for that. Yea, unfortunately my health is at an all time low and it looks to be getting lower as I get older. There's not really a lot I can do about it except rest and try to slow the process. Its not something that can be cured or recovered from but I'll do my best to live well. I'm quite saddened to hear of this as you & your channel are one of my favorite smaller up & coming channels, even though I don't always comment. I understand & empathize my friend more than you know as I also suffer from chronic pain emanating from a head on high speed car crash with a drunk driver leaving me in & out of a hospital & rehabilitation clinic for 5 months. The other drunk driver was killed in the crash it was so violent. In 2016 the pain was so bad I could no longer sit upright for more than 20 to 30 minutes tops whether in a car seat chair or couch, so sinking endless hours into my gaming hobby overnight became a thing of the past, even though I've been on a high dose of Oxycodone since my botched lower back surgery in early 2016. 8 years I suffered without being able to play & enjoy a game more than a half hour at a time, so big open world games became a thing of my past. In 2020 I had a successful spinal fusion surgery to repair 3 vertebrae & the destroyed disc with titanium hardware to hold it all together. So now via physical therapy I have slowly upped my gaming sessions only recently from one hour to 2 & even 3 on occasion. 8 years I kept buying great games I couldn't even experience so my backlog is quite long. Please don't lose hope my friend, miracles can happen, they happened to me.
Hey man, I was hoping you'd see this video. I'm really grateful for the support you gave to me and the channel since I started this. After reading your comments here, I can tell that you absolutely understand what I'm dealing with. I've heard of the surgery that you've had and unfortunately, they wont do ANYTHING like that here in the UK. Unless I pay many thousands for private health care which I cant afford. I've had meds, physio and a single surgery on my spine but that's really it. Funnily enough, my surgery was also unsuccessful, it seemed great for about 6 months and then it VERY quickly went south. I'm gunna do what I can to just.... exist, I guess, but its gunna be difficult. Thanks for all the support and encouragement, it means a lot🙂
@Consoles Only So sorry to see you have few options for help with your back. While in California it seemed I couldn't qualify for the much needed spinal fusion surgery, then once in Idaho the Doctor told me it should have been done a long time ago so they scheduled me during the Covid lockdown period here in a special surgery center where I spent 3 days until I was ready to return home. Extremely painful recovery I very much underestimated but I toughed it out & got through it, only now I can't feel much in my legs & feet as nerve damage was great but at least I can sit in a chair or car seat again, which I'm greatful for. My operation was about $74,000. with my part being around $8000 out of pocket which I've paid off finally.
Jesus christ man, $74,000?! That's insane! I mean, I know you paid "only" $8000 of it but good god. The NHS here in the UK does surgery (like my first one) for free but for specialist stuff like what you had, they wont do it. Well, unless you're elderly. Because of how the NHS works, they tend to put people into a unspoken prioity and sadly, a 35 year old is not high on that list. Problem is, the list never shortens because new people get added above me. I can get meds, physio, psychiatrists and minor surgery for nothing (with a year or so wait) but the more specialist stuff is off the table mostly. I've got a lot of appointments coming up so I'll have to speak to them and really see what they can offer. Thanks man.
@Consoles Only Here in America we have the option for Gold plated health care via private insurance policies. My wife works for a huge corporation that has exceptional medical, vision & dental insurance, so I was fortunate enough to get a quality operation with a very good surgeon. Sadly I can't feel my legs & feet which are always numb with a strange pins & needles sensation but at least I can sit & play video games again for longer than a half hour so I'm extremely greatful for the blessings I do have. The downside is having a 8 year backlog of video games to play & my career as a Painter is finished as I can't climb ladders anymore because of balance issues from the severe spinal fusion, so now I make a lot less money than before.
Wow dude, you definitely have it bad and I feel bad for saying it but, at least you can near enough fully understand my situation. Yea, that's the thing, when you have these kind of problems it massively hurts your prospects. You become, as I said in the video, inconsistent and even if you wanted to get a job, you might not physically be able to do it. At least not to the standard that you'd like to. What can you do though? You just have to get on with it and keep yourself as happy as you can I suppose.

Chronic pain is absolutely no joke, I live with chronic migraine and can relate in a sense to your feelings of frustration in regards to how debilitating it can be, not just for your personal life but for work also. Please don’t apologize, or beat yourself up over any of this. It’s a raw deal you’ve been given, but you’re absolutely right to feel proud of how you worked with it. And I can only imagine how terrifying it must feel to hear it’s going to get worse over time. But I hope that the greater awareness of the condition in recent years translates into new and more effective treatments with time as well. Until then, though, I can only speak from my own experience (admittedly with a very different handful of conditions) and say to believe in your adaptability. It’s awful to find yourself so limited, especially when it comes to the things you love, but if humans are good at anything, it’s adaptation. Look for things that bring you joy, and you’ll find them. They may not be the same things they used to be. They may not even be the same things they were yesterday. But there’s always going to be something to find if you look. Sounds like you’ve been doing that, with what you said about card games, and tv/movies. And with the idea to focus more on turn-based games. I hope those bring you plenty of joy. It’s sad to hear you have to stop with RU-vid, and even sadder as to why. But I hope you never lose hope for your own future. Even though we may find ourselves without joy at times, we never lose our ability to look for it. That’s what I believe, at least.

I'll definitely miss our chats about games but as you say, its just the reality of the situation, I have to stop before my body stops on its own. Its difficult to know that its getting worse but exactly as you said, I'm trying to rest, relax and find joy in other things. Things that I can do without hurting myself too much or holding myself to a deadline. I'm planning to playthrough all of the Legend of Heroes games over a long period of time (only having played a couple at this point). I'm going to a Pokemon TCG Scarlet and Violet pre-release event on the 18th March so that should be fun. I'll be on pain meds and using a walking stick but I should be alright for a few hours. Plus yea, lots of movies, tv and anime to catch up on. Probably more than I could consume in a life time so I'll be good there haha. Anyway, thanks a lot dude, for everything🙂

Your awareness that “not for me” != “bad” is an admirable perspective both for media criticism, and general life. And it sounds like you’ve got lots of fun stuff lined up! Definitely no shortage of good shows, like you said, and Legend of Heroes alone is quite the expansive series. That pre-release event sounds fun, too, though I admit I don’t know a ton about TCGs. One thing I did want to suggest, though you’ve probably already thought of it, but have you tried finding some letsplayers/streamers to watch? Not a perfect substitute, of course, and it can be hard finding one you click with, but it may let you still experience games that might otherwise be off the table. It’s also helpful having the ability to rewind/rewatch things. I get migraines fairly regularly, and on bad days it can be hard to think straight, or absorb anything. So the ability to rewind can help me to process things when I’m sluggish, or refresh my memory if I forget something. Anyway, thank you too, for everything, and good luck with everything going forward!

I suppose I could but I dunno, the idea of streamers doesnt really appeal to me but maybe its because I havent looked properly. And yeah, streamers/letsplayers might click, or might just not be your thing. I watch a few creators, myself, but I’ve admittedly bounced off more than I’ve clicked with. (Migraines don’t mesh well with super loud/shouty personalities, for example, though I know many enjoy that.) But yeah, could be worth looking into.
i am very sorry to hear all this & i honestly don't know what to say but i will say this. even tho i've only found this channel 6 maybe 8 months ago your content. your videos were very entertaining & enjoying & even unique & it's sad to see it end this way but i hope your future is far & bright & wonderful. you will be missed & i will say as well that in a way you were a hero why? because you did what you believe is right & you brought joy to people & at the end of the day that is 1 way to be a hero & is why you are a hero to many & i thank you for all of your hard work & bringing joy & GN Or Good day to you & stay determined

Its sad to hear you leaving and everything you ve been through. But I hope to see the miracle of you one day returning and getting that spring back to ur step. I have an idea of the suffering you’re going through and not even our worst enemies deserve such fates. I had a friend who was given the same fate with a different diagnose and doctors couldn’t help him. But (I know how this will sound and I only thought Id share this with hopes of one day you being able to enjoy gaming again like you used to and I saw on ur channel) my friend decided to start eating vitamins and went on an extremly heathy diet eventhough doctors said it wouldnt matter. But it helped him balance the chemicals in his body and brain, he was at it for 2 years and he still has to visit the doctor but he has bounced back quite significantly. (It was last resort and he was desperate) Also I find mentally having hope can help a lot too. I went through personally a few years of suffering each day and the only thing that kept me alive was hope that all the suffering will end, that it eventually pays off because for every day you suffer you’ll be that much stronger and one day strength will prevail. I realise what I went through doesn’t even begin to compare but I hope its of some use. This comment might be a complete waste and not even applicable but I genuinely hope to you see your revitalise some day and get better. You were one of the good ones
Thank you for the kind words Martin. I see that you've been subscribed for a week which I thank you for but I'm sorry that I essentially wasted your time. Its out of my control but still, that doesn't help me feel any better about qutting. In terms of your advice, I will absolutely take that on board. I have already been on a better diet for a few years now and losing a bit of weight did help me feel a little better but so far, it hasnt done much for the pain etc. It may help more in the future but I'll have to wait and see. I'm not actually a massively overweight guy, I'm 6'5'' tall and I'm only slightly over what I should be, weight wise. Probably due to lack of physical activity, exercise is near impossible. Your comment was absolutely not a waste and its nice to know that people such as yourself care enough to give me some helpful advice. Thank you again, I greatly appreciate it🙂

It is really sad to hear that you have such a big illness, especially because I really felt that you enjoyed what you did here, even with the complaint here and there about stupid things in modern gaming. Hey there, I do check my comments from time to time so thank you for leaving one! Its a mixed bag really. I did end up losing the weight that I wanted to lose which was like 85-90lbs. So I DO feel better with some aspects but sadly, nothing stops the pain and the brain fog which.....to be honest....I struggle with more than ever. Its stronger than ever but as I said, a few other things have got better so I wont complain haha. Thanks a lot for leaving a message. I appreciate that!

bro, I literally found your channel today. I'm really sorry you're dealing with that lower back pain. I've had a handful of motorcycle accidents that wrecked my back so I feel your pain. I have to share with you what's been working for me- Kratom. It's organic and comes from trees in southeast Asia, specifically Thailand IIRC. I take roughly 10 grams (1 gram is equal to a tablespoon) throughout the day. I use 2 grams in powder form mixed with hot water, like tea. Also, I mix in tumeric, cinnamon, and pepper for antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties. Trust me, bro. Try Kratom
I have an inherited illness called ehlerdanlos type 3/classical. My mother is crippled from it. You have 50/50 chance of inheriting it from that parent, turns out my dad has it too. It’s basically as simple as the collagen being super elasticity and your body can’t hold itself together. Severe muscle pain, chronic fatigue, grinded/dislocated joints, bowel complications, infections are more severe ( I was on 4 different types of antibiotics and didn’t sleep for 4 days because of a spread tooth infection) going to the toilet for me has been horrendous and I’ve been getting up at 5am every morning just to have a bowel movement for 18 years. Feels like most days gravity is pulling my innards out of my body. I have to take bowel powders everyday and prescription pain medication just to get through a day especially at work, the constant migraines don’t help ,I’m lucky I have such an understanding girlfriend who is patient with me. But needless to say I completely understand your pain
My only advice going forward is to do this as a hobby and definitely not a job. Even if you made 1 or 2 videos a year and treated it as an outlet. No fancy editing. Think pete dorr style. That said i have no idea what youre going through. Im depressed sometimes sure but i have no idea what its like to have my hands hurt. I wish you well and wtv you end up doing i just hope you find a way to deal with day to day.
I really do appreciate the advice🙂 I've thought about that (and many other options) but ultimately, my health is only going to get worse. It seems and feels like a losing battle but who knows, 5 years from now, they might invent some sort of miracle cure for it. If that happens, you can bet that I'll be back. (also I dont know who pete dorr is but I assume he doesnt post often?) There's a bit more to the issues that I didnt go into, like severe insomnia, restless leg syndrome, headaches and the fact that my fiance is my legal care giver. She has to help me in most aspects of daily life now and yea, as you said, my hands are in absolute agony sometimes. Typing this message isn't too easy right now either lol. Still, I thank you for watching and for caring enough to leave me some advice. I'll miss this channel and I'll miss people like yourself.

I am sorry that life has dealt you this hand, I don't really even know what to say. I found you through your Sonic Frontiers video and I left a comment saying that you put into words pretty much everything I thought about the game. I just feel so guilty for ending the channel, like I'm letting people down or like I wasted their time. People watched, subscribed and even donated to the channel and now, I'm just ending it. I know that the choice is out of my control but it doesn't make me feel any better about it😢 I remember your comment on that video and we did seem to be on the same page with Sonic Frontiers🙂. In terms of my reviews and videos in general, I just tried to learn as I went on. If you look at my older stuff you'll see how bad it was in the beginning haha. I had no experience with game capture, video editing, script writing or voice over. I just had to learn video by video and I did that because I wanted to share my experiences with other people. I had no agenda, no plan, no.....anything really. I just wanted to review games and make it clear that my opinions aren't facts. I've had quite a few people tell me that my videos were super high in quality and I never really knew why that was. I only watch a few other reviewers and I suppose they became my inspiration. The memory problems is heartbreaking. Please look into the ketogenic diet and the positive effects it has on memory. Getting the brain to run on ketones is the only proven way to help with early Alzheimer's. Good luck with everything 🙏🙏

Yea Samurai Maiden is kinda mid, but since these style of games is almost impossible to make these days I got into it! I think the combat and controls is really solid tbh!
Hey Buddy i just came across this video and wanted you to know about something that might help with your illness. My cousin has a condition called Sponlothropy or something like that but it essentially is artiritis of the spine. He used to be in ferocious pain 24/7 and could hardly walk. But his doctor recommended an infusion called SIMPONI ARIA. This is an infusion that he gets every six weeks and my cousins pain has gone from a 20 to about a two. It has completely changed his life for the better and just thought you should know because maybe it can help with your condition.
